Charming! Daddy Long Legs: it didn’t matter that there were no memorable songs, the voices were not outstanding, and the plot was sentimental. Jervis, Jerusha's mysterious scholarship benefactor, demanded that once a month she must send him letters that he will never answer. Just seeing the play of emotions - the varied facial expressions shown - as she writes the letters is worth the price of admission. Her thoughts, feelings, and discoveries conveyed by pen and paper are sung and it is very, very endearing. Loved it.
I brought my family to see this on April 2 and we LOVED the theater and ADORED the show!! I have two teenagers who are as different from each other as can be, but they both found the show entrancing. My wife and I were so impressed with the two actors and how they portrayed Jervis and Jerusha. The 3-piece orchestra created real magic! I wish we lived in Pittsburgh because I would've gone more than once. It was a great success in my opinion. Well done!
Saw this and enjoyed it so much that I bought another ticket and watched it again the following week, something I have never done before. Just a first rate production, with exciting performances and a really sweet, fun show.
The age gap is made less extreme in most of the other productions, with a 19-ish years old Jerusha and especially a 25ish Jervis. Which could still be critized, but yeah. That production has an older actor, so it's more jarring. Hope it makes sense.
