I've loved this video for a year or two now. Maybe something subconsciously told me to watch it again. Yes, it took this long for that Wicked movie to finally come into being! I am a fan of everything Oz, and the fact that Wicked is finally a movie is so exciting! Hungry Reader is one of the best TH-cam channels!
I have an explanation for the "tin that rusts" thing--from a Highlights book I read years and years ago. The popular theory is that the Tin Man was actually made of iron, with a thin coat of tin--like a tin can.
P.P.S. I really admire your Gayelette theory! I never thought of that before. P.P.P.S. I think the wizard's "courage" was whiskey, since it was described as being poured from a square flask. I bet the old faker needed to drink an awful lot of it himself to get through his long career of fooling people and hiding from witches.
I thought of something. At the end of the book the Scarecrow rules over the Emerald City and the Tin Man rules over the Winkle Country but there’s no one left to rule Munchkin Country. Maybe the lion should have ruled over the Munchkin Country in the end.
It turns out, the Munchkin country already had a king! Or would have, at least, if they hadn’t sworn fealty to Ozma. His name is Unc Nunkie, and we actually meet him in a later book.
@@whyiamafs When Dr. Pipt introduces him to the Glass Cat, he says: Excuse me," returned the Magician. "This is Unc Nunkie, the descendant of the former kings of the Munchkins, before this country became a part of the Land of Oz." So maybe Unc Nunkie was never a king himself, but he’s introduced as if he were next in line for a throne that no longer exists.
There's an early 1980s anime version) that many fans say is arguably the most faithful adaptation of the book(s). But Return to Oz is the most faithful in terms of tone, design, and ascetic even if it's not based on the original book.
I had to look it up: not saying you’re wrong, but I do have to wonder how one would develop that fetish as a child in the 1860s… watching animals get butchered?

What does "If you like me...which most people aren't" mean?
It’s “if you’re like me”, because most people are not like me! Which is true for almost anyone, I guess.
