- The Boston Dynamics robot, Spot, has just leveled up at the AI (artificial intelligence) Summit in London.
Boston Dynamics exhibited a new AI-powered self-learning development in its autonomous robots.
Spot is a four-legged mobile monitoring device mostly used in industrial settings, costing $74,500 (£55,000).
Brendan Schulman, vice president of policy and government relations for Boston Dynamics explained the update to the BBC’s AI Decoded.
AI Summit London is a two-day conference featuring panels and presentations on emerging AI technology.

I’ve seen this Black Mirror episode
lol
How about if the bad guy has that robot dog? 🤭
Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation unto this day. Joshua 8:28
how long before they shoot back
like refugees in europe
They've already been used by the NYPD. How long before the Met have a unit of them?

It’s already happening.
already out
I remember an old cartoon of a robot bulldog that was built to replace "spike" in Tom and Jerry.
It didn't go so well.
We can make AI robot dogs but we can't solve the real estate scam because then rich people would lose money.
Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation unto this day. Joshua 8:28
how to make sure that a REAL dog is always friendly and never harmful... you just can't
Emotionless metal, how "cute"!
They'll be allowed on public transport soon enough.
😂
The "dull" part is rather important. Sometimes humans get lackadaisical and skip minor things that could be very problematic if they become major things. Personally, I'd like to see routine checks done with both human and AI in tandem.
"Spot the robot got shot."
Oooo.... That's fun to say!
The ominous intro music, is befitting.
I think they need that terminator track really...
they won't remotely disable robots in the same way car manufacturers don't build in a way to remotely disable cars - which could literally solve vehicle crime - and that's because no one will buy your car knowing it can be remotely disabled, and also those who do use it for nefarious means could simply remove that capability.
I recall a case, in an airport, where bus drivers were to be replaced with an autonomous bus. People did not board the headless bus. Now imagine, telling people, it works with internet and chances are, it can be hacked.
That would generate so much marketing, even normal PR would struggle.
No wait, we have AI, thay could also automate the PR response.
@@tben7808 But dozens of airports have driverless people movers that transport people between terminals and have done so for decades
@@explorer47422 Yes, if the track is fixed, like a train track, it sets a guard rail.
A road and a tyre do not present such challenges. Initially it does, since the ML used to train to drive, used to understand black surface as a driving surface. That got changed since most of the Airports have concrete flooring.
Just wait till someone out there finds a kernel exploit and makes it shoot lasers.
Have you seen the version with the flame thrower available commercially? Only in the USA.
running on software? network-enabled to be ongrid?
Loopholes waiting to be discovered and exploited by hackers.
And if the hackers don't get you, it can come from within itself.
AI potentially becoming self-aware and going rogue against their human masters.

5:39 I only see a Robot going about,, where is the DOG 🐕 !!
Military applications?
The bullet proof dog is a technology of peace.
In the movie “Red Planet” the robotic dog Amee killed people as the robot doc can be broken. Also it has risk to be hacked..
"I promise just the tip"
That chilling intro music: "da da da da daangg...." 'mimicking terminator robot scenes'.. lol
10:17 You should presume that if someone "hacks" or otherways modifies the robot's software or hardware, disabling the "remote disabling" functionality may be among the first modifications made. A compromised robot may "pretend" to be disabled while reactivating later when it may be unexpected, and shouldn't be trusted.
It doesn't bite!
This guy is so excited and positive.... acts as if it was an ad... in fact both of them... so profoundly weird and uncritical.... This is troubling.
Anything developed for a civilian use then becomes a military tool
That's fishy, I won't let my robo-dogo near my bullets at all
It won’t be used in military just in “defense “

11:57 Absolute 🤡 statement. Almost like saying “ Huamns will never go in to outter space.” A person who doesn’t understand improvement and progress overtime would say something like that.
So that mean,... aibot will n can kill human right bro?... I mean anything wrong can also happen...
@@buckroger6563 Anything can happen. Just like anything can go wrong and anything can go right. And if you believe these statements then you would agree with what I said originally. Don’t be a clown by limiting an intelligence of something that may think billions of times faster and can be trillions of times smarter because at that point you don’t have a logical way of interpreting what you are dealing with much less to deal with it.
Remotely disable spot is very complicated and could also cause even more harm (for example you shut it down at the wrong moment and it falls on someone's head), it is better if the owner takes legal responsibility for their spot and how they use it. Pushing that responsibility to the robot manufacturer doesn't scale and will kill innovation.
I think people are going to rent robot dogs as baby sitters. Not a totally crazy idea, it would allow kids to roam with supervision.
🤔 how is a robot following your kids Babysitting,,,
You have no idea what Ai is 😢😢
A parent that is happy to have a robot dog look after their child should probably not be a parent...
if you haven't noticed WE DON'T LIVE IN MEXICO!
Wow. Relying on legal process to shut it down AFTER malicious use?!
This comment makes sense to me: "they won't remotely disable robots in the same way car manufacturers don't build in a way to remotely disable cars - which could literally solve vehicle crime - and that's because no one will buy your car knowing it can be remotely disabled, and also those who do use it for nefarious means could simply remove that capability." So that's why they rely on law enforcement instead to deal with the problem. Cops are going to have to learn how to take down bots.
Freaky
Ai is something we all need to focus on improving and keeping safe and accessible to all

Ooohhh, there's _legal_ recourse in case of misuse. Ok, I can sleep now . There's no way bad actors will violate terms of service.
Exactly this, it is completely insane. The world has gone completely nuts.
The Robot Rampant Rabbit may not be more popular than this, but it's definitely up there. 😅

I've seen the A.I.-controlled robot combat dogs with built-in flamethrowers, very scary 😐
I grew up watching "Tomorrow's World" on the BBC. Funny how tech moves so quickly.
I was just saying to myself last week.....why dont we have robot dogs yet?
Ohh most lonely men wouldn't agree wth you dear.. men need sleeping companions, where most women these day reject men.. lol

No way. Keep that scary thing away from me.
AI will never replace human creativity? ludicrous
So basically, yes the robot can harm humans and animals, and there’s nothing anyone can do. This a big accident waiting to happen
Amazing work
What is the point? Dogs are awesome.
Because we can... but mostly will lead to other stuff😊
What a load of shite about "democratization" we say to make ourselves feel better.
Robot dogs... NOT A GOOD IDEA.
Holy. Sarah McLachlan doppleganger.
One day in near future we will start hearing recipe talks of how to live without AI.
Every time an artist uses this stuff, they are training it to copy them and their style directly. Then, in the near future, they will be able to cheaply and efficiently replace many pesky and expensive career musicians.
The war dogs
sogood robot dog improvement 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Humans you are not creating enough Euphoria for creativity.
Euphoria, a state of intense excitement and happiness, is often linked to creativity. However, not producing enough euphoria can hinder the creative process.
This is what we want from Ai. Euphoria can lead to a state of mind where the boundaries between the physical and the dream worlds blur, allowing access to ideas that don't make logical sense. This flow state is crucial for creativity.

So as the Swab guy said, in the future you will own nothing , only lease, if you listen to this guy, you do not buy the dog bot, you have a "licensing" agreement that they can cancel at any time, sure he says IF the bot is "missed" but that is lawyer talk to say they can clarify anything as "missed". YOU DO NOT OWN THE BOT, IT IS UNDER LICENSE. Tesla's FSD is under the same conditions... this trend, I repeat, AGAIN, is unstoppable. People are too fat and happy to rise up against this, hey teh dog is so cute after all.... until it is given other directives!!
It's genuinely astounding, how far behind the conversation, the BBC is.... It's like listening to your Grandpa explain :Amazons & Bookface in the interweb", like it was shocking new information!
Creepy af. Didn’t you watch War of the Worlds? Gabriel Byrne and Daisy Edgar-Jones in War of the Worlds (2019). AI should not have arms and legs.
Yes but how does it smell?
"Is AI good? Let's talk only to people who think it's good to settle this debate"
Nice reporting 🙄
I hope the police dog robot that was shot, recovered and is well.
There is no such thing as a person using the Robo to harm an animal or a Human. A Robo cannot harm a Human and this rule must be used for the Robo to understand that humans or animals cannot be attacked
Well it against the design of it.. that is to serve n protect human, what if peoples been attacking by bear or others animal?
Could it be that bullet intercepting robots will supplement or even take jobs away from personal protection units like the US secret service?
They have had that dog ages, ou should see the stuff they ain't telling their slaves
Remote shutdown or shutoff could and most likely be exploited as a vunerability for hackers, if not governments. #ThinkingLikeAnEngineer
love keeping up with BBC and AI News! Here's a burning question I have: When will most people be able to use phone calls to access ChatGPT anywhere in the world, using specific phone numbers designated for that purpose, possibly with an easy-to-remember number pattern or termination? Imagine a world where anyone with a phone, who prefers traditional communication methods, could simply pick up the phone and call ChatGPT, just like calling 911. It would be as free as email and as affordable as local low-cost phone calls, accessible in all countries where the internet and services like Airbnb are available. #Rotary_International
"It'll walk around the facility autonomously 24hrs a day"
A lie. How big do you think the battery is on that thing? 1kWh weighs 100kg; that's carrying a person which this thing obviously isn't. The more weight you add the more energy you need to move, the more momentum. No way is the battery much over 10kg. That's 100Wh. It has to accelerate maybe 25kg against gravity but not all the time plus movement but it's not constantly floating so let's call that 30kg*10m/s/s but it's only having to do 25% of that so let's settle for 75N constant output.
It'll run for about 1hr 20 minutes.
Maybe it recharges itself
@@BossMax511 Ok but that'll take time when it's not patrolling. Plus, completely draining the battery and completely charging it is slow and impractical so it'll be 20-80% when the charge is quickest. So it's 45 mins on, 20 mins off. That's statement misleading enough to qualify as a lie.
And Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation unto this day. Joshua 8:28
How can I put it down? Lol i can upload viruses to it?
Boston Dynamics the most advance robotics company?? 😂😂😂😂
Jesus, the BBC is way misinformed and ignorant... incredible.
I know they got to pander to tear revenue sources , but the most EXTENSIVE and massive AI is Tesla, and thus Optimus, by extension, since all that data will be used on Optimus.
The BBC keeps insisting on being goofy. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember the first trial model lmao I wonder why the us military never bought the contract lmao. Oh yeah to much errors 😂😂😂
Those with natural human skill will be more skilled at prompting and working with Ai, so those who have jobs now I recon will still have the the jobs in the future, so it's fair, Ai is just a new tool to make music with, not to replace the musician.
Ai music can't be any worse than the new drivel we have now.
No feeding, no fussing and no fur. Clean, efficient, dependable. Mechano 😂
She dressed up like a robot dog. How very odd.
Creepy.....
Look like amee in movie mars (2000)
Will smith movie was the sign..guys
What in the Black Mirror 😮
Joshua burnt Ai, and made it an heap for ever, even a desolation unto this day. Joshua 8:28
Everyone will be forced on the AI mark of the beast. We are all going to hell
My hope is that AI will eventually reduce my workload so I can actually live a more fulfilling life. I can't imagine working another 50 years for 50 hours a week.
Why would artists use it if it means giving away ownership of their art? Corporate led, profit driven AI development is probably the fastest path to self destruction for humanity. Seems like we’ll find out soon enough.

Lol people afraid of spot are funny, its no different to the same tech that allows a robotic vaccum cleaner to intelligently navigate around your house which is the same tech as whats in self driving cars, its friendly to humans because it has no ai beyond navigation and sample, as for spot not waponised im pretty sure i saw one with a flame thrower lol
Edit ok its not boston dynamics but another company made it be a flame thrower

AI is just parroting and copying other humans. In music and art, it’s just copying other’s style.
BS
I trust AI more than humans, absent other information.... Of course that's mainly because "human" is a particularly low bar to clear.
AY👁️ IS NO BUENOOOOOOO MAMI

Farage was right , you are probably the most boring presenter 😴😂

Looking at creative aspects, these tools are still going to cost money and will end up once again being for privileged people. The gap is becoming bigger, you better stay on the right side mentality.
