    I have played this game at the Vancouver, Canada pinball expo a few years back. It was left alone by people as it is SO different. Perfect for me because i loved it and therefore had tons more time on it with no one waiting around it!

    Just acquired one of these. Works partially but needs to be gone through. Excited to get it working completely.

    It blew my mind that there are no magnets in the playfield and it plays like that! Amazing!

    I remember playing this in the 80's, but I don't think that I played it for long. It was certainly different, and you've gotta love those Williams sounds! It may have a high level of frustration built in. Great videos, thank you!

    I had the privilege of playing this at the MIchigan Pinball Expo. I couldn't believe a machine like this exists. Unfortunately, that one machine was the only one I ever saw. I'm glad to see there's a video about it.

    That bumper mech is brilliant, props to the engineer who came up with that. I thought it was a magnet, not a spinning motor. Magnets might last longer though :-) I've had a chance to play one but the curved playfield makes it difficult for me to hit any shots at all.

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes...very clever and never reused that idea again by any manufacturer...i think because the motor bearings would wear out after many hours in an arcade.

    I played this game at a mall in West Virginia, in 1988. The light under the playfield was out so I had no idea the field was shaped like that. It drove me crazy how the ball was just going in all kinds of crazy directions. I couldn't tell the bumpers were spinning either. I could never remember the name of this game until I just happen to come across this video.

    They seem to be all about recycling old themes these days. 😉

    There's an ORBITOR 1 living on the floor of the Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame, if anyone is interested. I'd never heard of it before seeing it, and was duly awestruck.

    It was either geniuses or madmen who came up with Orbitor 1, the thing takes the cake insofar as unusual pinball machines go.
    The first time I saw one played, I was like "Whaaat? No way...", for I saw the ball go down the outlanes and go zipping back up through the gaps to the flippers again, as well as the weird movements the ball made over the table, particularly after getting some hard spin put into it by the bumpers.
    It wasn't until I got a closer look and the guy playing it told me a little about the machine that I got that the playfield was curved and the ball was not bewitched. Had a fun time giving it a go myself too.
    Still, Orbitor 1 seems to break all the pinball rules, and that's why it's so cool. I mean there's not a lot to do insofar as target shooting ot anything like that, but that curved playfield sort of makes up for it, you can pull off stuff you just can't do with an ordinary flat playfield, and that's what makes this pin so special.

      But, it IS totally unique and worthy of a place in pinball history!

    • @tntamusements

      Sadly, it was a complete disaster when released. Considered "junk", it was closed out new in the box for $2199. The reviews were "Ugly Sound, Ugly Graphics, Ugly Gameplay!"

    Ditto to eins2001 post about your videos, I really enjoy them for the same reason. I have a giant Saitek toy pin with two spinning bumpers like the Orbitor1. It's a fast and fun pin for what it is.

    • @tntamusements
      @tntamusements  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This really was a great idea and a fun unusual twist to pinball...and certainly worth playing a number of games to get the hang of it!

    • @dude8869
      @dude8869 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Obviously the spinners and the flippers are in are in a slightly depressed part of the playfield from the rest of the game giving it a gravitational pull effect. When I look at the game play I'm like, Who would have come up with this awesome idea? So outside the box.

    This was interesting but incredibly dull. Most of the time, you'd watch your ball go around the two center spinners with very little play. It was broken down most of the time too
