Love your house. It's so refreshing after all of the cookie cutter houses with all the same colors and decor. Your house tells a story and I like that.
Sofia, I love the calmness that your house has brought to you...just you talking through this process has brought calmness to my routines! I'm not where you are yet in my house, but slowly and surely I'm getting there, and just to see the peace you have gives me hope! Keep going girl! BIG thumbs up! I love to see the shots you made of your boys decorations, reminds me of when mine were young and it warms my heart! Enjoy every minute! They are growing so fast!
I love your new philosophy and I try to live by it, especially when I feel overwhelmed. Sometimes it's better to slow down and enjoy the process of making a room look pretty rather than killing myself trying to do too much. I adore your channel and sometimes worry because you're so active with work, family, cleaning, cooking, shopping, quilting, kid's activities, etc. These days will pass quickly, sometimes we all need to be reminded to slow down a bit and enjoy life, even if the grout isn't perfect! xo
Another great video, Sophia! Here's something to try for your closet purge: hang your clothes with the hanger hook facing towards you. As you use each article of clothing hang it up again with the hook facing away (the usual). When you switch over your closet seasonally you can clearly see what you don't wear. Donate the article of clothing instead of storing it away.
Hi Sophia! Glad you didn’t rush around today. I think you are right by mixing it up and taking it slower sometimes. Life is always to busy! Hi to the family
I do that sometimes too Sophia, take my time cleaning, actually more often than not. Today I took my time cleaning doing a Whole House Refresh, taking breaks in between. We were not doing anything today anyway, not where to go and hubby was working from home today. I actually enjoyed my day doing it that way. However, I also like to do Power Hours too sometimes when I am crunched for time.
I often encourage my clients to practice mindfulness while cleaning. Our lives are so busy and stressful sometimes we miss the opportunity to enjoy the small things.
I'm going to pick on Scott's chest of drawers. Yea, I know you don't like it and he doesn't want to part with it! LOL !! I thought when I saw him leaning on it at the beginning of the video. Cass on "Clutterbug" did her kitchen cabinet s with General Finishes JQ Gel Stain. Her cabinets look great !! Just an idea for making his chest look like your bed and nightstands. :) Glad to see he's feeling better. Hopefully your family is all done with the nasty flu !!
I like the slower, more mindful approach. You're not worn out when you've completed your work and you have time to think and concentrate. I think perhaps this is a healthier approach. I often listen to music when I'm cleaning or listen to a pod cast. Life is already filled with enough fast paced situations and I feel like when you are in the comfort of your own home that you are entitled to take things at a more leisurely pace. Give yourself permission to relax.....you deserve it.
House is perfect you’ve come sooooooooo far.... pat yourself on the back for this accomplishment 🙂 you have worked so hard to get to this point.... yes take your time enjoy your beautiful home and clean the items that make your house a HOME and be happy.... your beautiful inside and out with a great family Thx for sharing all your life with us 🙂
Dear Sophia, I think what you done was very Flylady like, because she says "making it fun will getting it done" and that is just what you did! Plus I think when one doesn't rush, one can enjoy the stuff and appreciate its beauty.
I agree with you but the FlyLady has helped me at least stayed focused. I am a Squirrel personality but I don’t like to feel rushed. Thanks so much for the videos! Glad your feeling better
I'm a SAHM so I do my decluttering and cleaning Always in my own time and the only time I get into "troubles" is during breaks when I get distracted ;) I started with decluttering with the konmari method and that was an eye opener, not going to thank all my things I'm way too grounded to do that but I understood what she meant to teach. After months and months of decluttering I'm finally in a home where it's easier to clean, and still I am doing the decluttering also with the fly lady and I don't know Sophia if you know Diane from Denmark? She's awesome too. What got me lately is that as a SAHM I need to do my chores and then put on nice clothes instead of staying in my work clothes. when it's done it's more ME time, I don't need to look like a slob because I can. Your video's are my treats, I watch other videos as well but I will safe your's to the last one and thank you so much for all you share and do and I must admit I was a bit tempted to do a thumbs down just for teasing's sake but I chose the adult option LOL.... ;) xoxo
Love the video! I like the idea of taking your time. Since you were sick not too long ago probably a good idea to go slow. Your house is awesome! Your new platter is just right. See you tomorrow. 👍💖😉
I breakup all my tasks. I do laundry everyday and on Saturday I wash one rooms bedding a month. When my kids were your kids ages they had to clean and change their own sheets except once a month when I did all their beddingdepending on which week it was. I swish and swipe the bathrooms each day so I deep clean the bathrooms/laundry once a month as part of my zone cleaning. Dusting and mirrors I spot clean main areas daily and the deeper cleaning is part of zones. Kitchen is the same, deep cleaning appliances and stuff part of zone. I have broken down my house to 4 zones so each zone gets done once a month. That leaves me with mopping on Saturday and vacuuming on Sunday. My aunt had 2 boys they had one day a month they did a big clean. They would split up all the chores including my uncle and get it done fast and usually go out for treat afterwards. It worked for them, I tried it with not much success. The above has worked for me for over a quarter of a century though I do find I am easier on the grandkids but that is the way it is supposed to be!
I've gotten to the point I break WHB down throughout the week. I don't hurry. I do a little bit in zone too, so maybe 2 tasks a day in addition to my daily routines. Like you've said many times if you stay with it, the house doesn't get that dirty. Nothing takes long to do.
Hi Sofia love your videos. Maybe you should not do scrubbing doing your home blessing and just do main areas. Isn't flylady system great lol Margaret. Don't knock yourself out. Have you seen Diane in Denmark. She does some great videos too . Go girl !
I can identify with getting lost in cleaning. Use to be cathartic. I could clean for hours and never feel tired until I was done then it hit me hard...
The older I get, the more I take my time. I make a to-do list for the weekend on Sat. morning, and I slowly get everything on the list done over the weekend. If everything doesn't get done, I just add it onto the next weeks list. It's not always cleaning things though. I try and do one cleaning out project. Yesterday I went through my sheets and pillowcases and purged. I got rid of 2 trash bags of them. I only have a 2 ft wide linen closet and they are only on 2 shelves. I have no idea how I had so many, I know I could never get them back in, lol. But they were nice and neatly folded and organized, lol. I keep toying with the idea of getting those velvet hangers. I like the idea of them all looking the same. Maybe one of these days. Good to see Scott up on his feet.
This was such a good video. Great editing and your home is really clean. I love it all. Your family. Your dinners. Your purges. Your DIYs. Your Christmas vlogs. You're the best
I bought all of the velvet (?) hangers and they looked so pretty, then they ALL broke within a short time--the hook part pulled out and couldn't be fixed, so I now use all plastic hangers, so they look uniform, but they are sturdier.
Both my husband and I yank our clothes off and we have broken so many hangers. I switched to the Ikea wood hangers 6 years ago and in that time we've broken 3 hangers. All of them are still usable.
Thats what i did. Each time i went i bought about $20 worth of hangers. It took me a while but it was worth it. I also picked up some sticky back felt at our local craft store ans cut it into strips. I put the strips on the hangers to keep my silky and wide neck tops from sliding off. Works like a charm.
Sophia, I love to see your office. I remenber it from your earlier videos and then you decided to change it all. What a project. It was great to watch you doing all the building. So inspiring. It is still one of my favorite rooms in your house. This was a really good video too. Nice that you slowed down. Good choice of music for it. Cheers.
WHEW !! So glad you decided to slow down this week on your cleaning routine, Sophia !! You have a lot of house to keep up with and I don't think a little over three hours was bad for all you accomplished. Love the plate your friend gave you, it goes so well with your décor. I always enjoy your videos. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you for inspiring us and also for reminding us that the Fly Lady routines are not written in stone and are flexible for every person's needs. :D
I do power hour cleaning often but I really enjoy what I like to call lesiurely cleaning. I find in super relaxing when I can do it that way. Love your videos!!!
Is it the Soji process. I like the idea of taking time sometimes. It's nice when you need to do the work but still need to keep your energy. Love this video. Thank you.
I really enjoy your videos, always! I take a relaxed approach to cleaning and take my time most of the time and I find it much more enjoyable than doing super fast power hour cleaning. There's a time and a place for speeding through a cleaning routine. But most of the time, I like it slow and steady!
I always get lost in the task at hand, I completely agree. It’s more meaningful that way. The result is always much better. That’s why I don’t clean that much! No need to clean everyday.(Aside from daily tasks in highly used areas that need to be tidied and maintained more then others) Cleaning every single day is a waste of time in my personal opinion. There’s just no need to do all that. It’s called SLOW LIVING. You did great as always Sophia! 👍🏾💐
Still loving ya Sophia! :) Zen Buddhist monks apply that form of "meditation" you speak of, when going about their cleaning and daily routines. Known as "soji" - they go about "mindfully" cleaning for 20 mins after their morning meditation and then just stop! I guess Zen monks don't have an awful lot of clutter to get through (lol)... but it's a good way to start something you just don't want to do :) Personally, I find racing the clock to do a proper clean (especially the floors) is too stressful... probably because like you, my house is big. But I do like to use it for the tasks I just put off (like decluttering - yuk!) Here's a laugh for you..... I'm like the Zen Buddhist monks when I iron... Yep! I iron everything, (socks, towels, underwear, sheets... everything) because this is the time I truly switch off... and it's just me and my thoughts running through my head... with no interruptions! Sheer Bliss! And btw.. I get immense satisfaction from seeing those creases disappear under the steam hehe... x
We all have different colour hangers so when I hang each person's items of clothing from the dryer on to the their colour hanger. They can just take their bunch of hangers and hang it in their wardrobe. Save a lot of mixed up clothes.
Oh I love the monk cleaning method..would love to learn more...i have watched an old zen monks video...they clean so thoroughly but not are very quick. I think thats hair color on the forehead... I got myself glove duster after watching your videos and i am so in love with it...thgh it isnt good quality..
Love the more relaxed cleaning method. I'm a type A and seem to move too quickly just to get it done. But, I'm also a clutz and end up breaking something. I'm going to try slowing down because really it's all about getting just enough done to be satisfied not perfect, right. =D
great video. The experience of cleaning you do here is like "hygge". It's a term for spending time doing something that makes you feel cozy and calm like meditation. I think your house is so cozy and clean. I love all your bookcases. Willie is keeping his room rel good. I like that you put on the essential oil diffuser while you did this too. I sometimes put on some classical music. My health has prevented me lately from cleaning and it's just piling up but it's beyond my reach right now. I haven't seen some of your last videos because I was in a car accident and had a concussion for this past month then fell down the stairs, but trying to recuperate and catch up. About the closet I like the idea of the dresser in there if you have room for your clothes too. I have a room upstairs that is beyond a one day organization but found some hangers on Amazon at a very cheap price and also some chrome hangeers that allow you to hang like 12 items on one hanger to utilize all the vertical space. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071H2WVGF/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A29BOJF70WNE9C and www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MRPXWG9/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AQ67B0WY6QKNG
I like your approach because why do we set a time limit for our cleaning routine? Your house is in great shape and you did declutter so much that cleaning now is not overwhelming. I used to rush and now I take my time.. maybe take a break here and there.. have a coffee and then continue. It makes cleaning more enjoyable. I really liked that you changed it up 👍
You have come such a long way from your earlier videos where you had to spend 8+ hours cleaning. You definitely seem less stressed, angry, and frazzled when you're cleaning! Absolutely love your videos! And this is just my two cents but I love the grey hair. It just looks classy! Haha. But I understand wanting to color over it, it looks good no matter what. :)
I completely agree with the method you used today. When you did that video of running around like crazy and checking the time to make it in 2 hours was nuts!!! (In my opinion) I was worried about you! A balance between the 2 methods would be great it seems.
I think you may be referring to the Benedictine monks. Kathleen Norris wrote a book called the Cloister Walk which documents her retreat time with a particular abbey. And this slower take on cleaning really makes it seem like a true home blessing! 👌🏻👌🏻
Sophia I know that you and Scott just finished decluttering the section of your attic with the sliding white doors, but I have an idea. Why not hang a pole in there like the one in your existing closet so Scott can hang his clothes right inside of the doors to free up space in the one you have for your clothes. It would give him alot of room and you guys would have separate closets. Just an idea. Great video.
Loved the slower video Sophia. The power hours are nice but can be exhausting. It's nice to lose yourself in a task I think. Your home looks great keep up the great work. Can't wait for the next!
Hi,Sophia .Why don't you try Henna hair dye , it's natural rich colour .If you are interested I can give you good instructions to use it . Following you from Egypt 🌷🌷
I like the no-rush method! Seems more relaxing and manageable - at least on the days when you need it to be that way :) Makes me want to clean stuff now and enjoy doing it by taking my time and not feeling rushed or hurried!
You seemed to have some new and different camera angles, which I enjoyed. What are you spraying on the floor before you steam mop? Always enjoy your videos, your energy and you.
I agree about taking your time and getting zen'd out while doing it. That is what Konmarie, the monks, zen folk, and Amish do. One task at a time and being mindful while doing it. At my age (68) I can't do anything fast anymore, haha. When I watch some of the TH-camrs rushing around to get things done in a short amount of time it makes no sense to me.
Love your channel and how you keep it real. You had mentioned hair color and Schwarzkopf hair color covers gray and lasts at least for me six weeks. A little more than L’Oreal but worth it.
Hey it worked! Whatever you and Scott did, no abrupt cutoff! It didn't keep me up nights or anything, but yea! House continues to look great. Doing a super job...don't know how you have the strength sometimes. Do you do a garden every year? I would love to have a vegetable garden, and to be honest some flowers along the front of the house, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start AND I kill every living thing I bring around this house (luckily my kid's still alive at 17) -- the latest casualties are a little bamboo tree and a money tree (THAT can't be a good sign). I did have to buy a new furnace a couple of weeks ago so there ya go. :)
Who could ever give you a thumbs down????? I SO enjoy all your videos! Say, I've been wondering...do you have a main floor powder room? I've just never seen it if you do. So glad you could take your time for this home blessing! Hugs!
Loove your videos. Have to go back and watch all bec I missed some. I am not able to keep up with cleaning like this 😢. I just do not think I could realistically do all this tasks daily 😩. I wanted to share I was able to find 100 velvet hangers for $20 on Amazon (free ship w Prime💕!!!!!) the brand is Amazon basics and the cheapest was the cream color (the ones for shirts without the bottom bar) awesome deal!!! Thank you for inspiring me to clean my home. You are an amazing lady💕💖
Maybe your home blessing hour could be split into 2 days, so maybe the basement and 1st floor one day then the top 2 floors the next day. It is a huge house and you seem to be wearing yourself trying to achieve it all on the same day. Just a suggestion. I love your videos. Donna in the U.K. xXx
Just to try something different, ~ have you ever thought of putting your bed at a 45° angle from the corner, pointing towards the door/stairway, (like model homes do during Open House showings??) It might be fun to try it, though, just for a few days. {If you don’t like it you can always move the bed back to where it’s ALWAYS been!} But it might be a nice bit of FREE variety to try out!? (Like you staying at some new bed & breakfast inn!!) 👍❤️😉
that 's a nice suggestion for her but i have done that in the past and felt that the two end tables didn't have room enough to reach while in bed. On the diagnonal does look like a nice change. Back in the day when I was younger i used to change my room around all my by myself and under 100 lbs. LOL not now though.
looks like it is a reaction to the hair dye you used today. Hope it doesn't get worse. nice cleaning video.Sometimes when I go slow I don't feel like I am accomplishing any thing.
Hi, Sophia! No abrupt ending this time. Woo Hoo!! Love you, love your videos. Just a suggestion regarding hangers....you might want to check QVC or HSN...can"t remember which one...but one has the Joy Mangano hangers and sometimes you can get pretty good deals. I got sucked in to ordering a crazy amount of hangers a few years ago. Well, I loved them and have ordered more hangers at least 4 more times. The color choices and package sizes are numerous and I have never had a problem with them.
HSN has the Huggable Hangers from Joy Mangano. All my closets have them in a different color. I even got some for my son and daughter in law when they moved into their new place. They definitely save space. I absolutely love them!
I wish TH-cam had a love button instead of a like button! Love your videos!
Love your house. It's so refreshing after all of the cookie cutter houses with all the same colors and decor. Your house tells a story and I like that.
Sofia, I love the calmness that your house has brought to you...just you talking through this process has brought calmness to my routines! I love to see the shots you made of your boys decorations, reminds me of when mine were young and it warms my heart! Enjoy every minute! They are growing so fast!
The little bit of grey makes it look more natural. Nice color.
I love your new philosophy and I try to live by it, especially when I feel overwhelmed.
I never get sick of watching you clean

Dear Sophia, I think what you done was very Flylady like, because she says "making it fun will getting it done" and that is just what you did! Plus I think when one doesn't rush, one can enjoy the stuff and appreciate its beauty.
Love your video. Yes, take your time every once in awhile, nothing wrong with that.
Success! Not cut short! Whatever you did, it worked! Great video, Thanks for sharing!
I agree with you but the FlyLady has helped me at least stayed focused. I am a Squirrel personality but I don’t like to feel rushed. Thanks so much for the videos! Glad your feeling better

You are so wonderful, Sophia. So motivating and inspiring. I could never do less than like/love your videos. Sweet dreams to the four of you.
Love the video! I like the idea of taking your time. Since you were sick not too long ago probably a good idea to go slow. Your house is awesome! Your new platter is just right. See you tomorrow. 👍💖😉
Costco has the best deal on huggable hangers, usually much cheaper and better quality than home goods
I only always clean this way. I don't believe in hurry-burry. Shortens one life somewhat.

the heavy duty hangers are worth the extra cost as the others are flimsy cr-p

Your hair looks pretty. Your clean home is very calming. I am working hard this week to get my home to zero.

12 loads washed, dried and folded this weekend. Now to put it all away! You’re not the only one!

Oh I love the monk cleaning method..would love to learn more...i have watched an old zen monks video...they clean so thoroughly but not are very quick.
I think thats hair color on the forehead...
I got myself glove duster after watching your videos and i am so in love with it...thgh it isnt good quality..
I love this way slow but steady. 😉
I love this"meditative " cleaning and declattering!!! I love how you do this and enjoy your new music a lot👍👍👍
God bless you all hope you all feel better
Love that platter on your dining table! Your home is lovely, just like you!
You work hard I love your work ethic I enjoy every video and your ideas and recipes. thanks!
Hi Sophia, I wonder if the redness was due to the hair color. Anyway, big thumbs up and the house is looking great. The dogs crack me up!
You look so much more relaxed after using this method.. Use it when you have a free day or something.. It'll be alot less stressful
The platter is beautiful, what a lovely friend.xx
Check Amazon for the hangers got 150 for about $40.
Sophia! This is my only complaint about Fly Lady! I do not like the timer! Too hectic and I prefer to enjoy the process too.
I still think a cordless (stick) vacuum by any good brand would save a lot of time and energy (and strain on your back!)
doremifasowhat I know it would be a lot better on my back, it's on my list.
Sofia, you are able to build anything you want and Scott can design anything why not design and build a better closet system.
I think you may be referring to the Benedictine monks. Kathleen Norris wrote a book called the Cloister Walk which documents her retreat time with a particular abbey. And this slower take on cleaning really makes it seem like a true home blessing! 👌🏻👌🏻
Great job! Keep on eye on that rash. It might be allergic reaction to hair dye or shingles....
Love day in the life videos like this!
Love your videos. Glad to see you're feeling better.
Loved the slower video Sophia. The power hours are nice but can be exhausting. It's nice to lose yourself in a task I think. Your home looks great keep up the great work. Can't wait for the next!
Sophia, I think that signature says Kathy Graybill. You may want to look that up.
several youtubers have the same problem . perhaps its better to make two videos insted of one which is cut. still love youre videos! great work!
You may consider putting foldable doors that match the other door on the closet it would look amazing
Why I like to iron clothes, when I'm doing it I'm only thinking of the task, it is a mental break from all the problems, things to do etc.
Hi Sofia, what a great idea to take your time and almost enjoy it. Do the boys make their own beds ? Your house looks beautiful!
For a quick fix I use the same color in eyeshadow (as my hair) and apply with a makeup brush
I LOVE YOU VIDEOS!
Another great video.....much slow pace....either way.....Love them!
I love your videos
I add music to my cleaning method and I don’t rush but I can focus better when I listen to music
Costco also carries the velvet hangers.
Love the french music in the back ground.
Love your channel and how you keep it real. You had mentioned hair color and Schwarzkopf hair color covers gray and lasts at least for me six weeks. A little more than L’Oreal but worth it.
Sophia! I would be so interested in knowing what perfumes you currently own and any recommendations of French perfumes. Love your videos ❤️
Donna in the U.K. xXx
Just to try something different, ~ have you ever thought of putting your bed at a 45° angle from the corner, pointing towards the door/stairway, (like model homes do during Open House showings??)
It might be fun to try it, though, just for a few days. {If you don’t like it you can always move the bed back to where it’s ALWAYS been!}
But it might be a nice bit of FREE variety to try out!? (Like you staying at some new bed & breakfast inn!!) 👍❤️😉
that 's a nice suggestion for her but i have done that in the past and felt that the two end tables didn't have room enough to reach while in bed. On the diagnonal does look like a nice change. Back in the day when I was younger i used to change my room around all my by myself and under 100 lbs. LOL not now though.
Try checking for hangers at Costco. They are very reasonable. Love your channel
Would love to see on the boy's chores. I have a 6 year old and she does not want to pick up even her toys :). Any tips? :)
TheCaiira
Start training her & showing her HOW to, NOW, when she’s young, together WITH her!
Could you be having a reaction to the hair dye?
I like that Americana 👍❤️😍😍😍😍 quilt?!? Did you make it?? I love it!!
looks like it is a reaction to the hair dye you used today.
I did the same thing. Only use those new hangers and it is such a nice look.
HSN has the Huggable Hangers from Joy Mangano. All my closets have them in a different color. I even got some for my son and daughter in law when they moved into their new place. They definitely save space. I absolutely love them!
I love to see you guys,a hangers video OH YAY LOL
