Few understand analogue delays, and there isn't a lot of clear communication as to what's so important about them. They use old inefficient technology (bucket brigade) which is responsible for the response (the Marshall sound, for example, is largely due to very inefficient mains and audio transformers!) Yes, it is relatively easily overloaded, but that means that it has a natural ducking feature, something digital delays copied from analogue! So if you play softly, the delay is less intense. But if you hit it harder, the delay kicks in stronger. The warmth, grit, and overall sensation that the delay brings to your touch is what many of us LOVE about analogue delays. Those that I have are: MXR Carbon Copy, Vox Double Deca, Boss DM-2w Waza Craft, DOD FX90. Anyway, I hope this helps someone a bit.

That said, he's using too much dirt for this demo I'd say. It's hard enough to hear the nuances without that added in. Not something I'm going to be investing in though. Too subtle.

Great sounding pedal but have to max the mix to hear it especially if you use drive pedals with it to the front of your amp. Even maxed mix it is still very quiet in the repeats the small box cc isn’t this way.
I’m having sellers remorse. I sold my regular Carbon Copy and bought a Walrus Audio ARP-87, but the MXR colored my tone is such good, thick ways that I miss. I’m assuming this will also do the same, so I might have to hit up guitar center tomorrow!
maybe someone here can help me. I got the original carbon copy last night and can't figure it out. I've watched demos and tried to copy the settings and make my own but no matter where I set it it has way too much delay. even with the mix all the way down the delay is almost useless for anything other than rockabilly ragtime music. the mod button is stuck as well sok I'm not sure if I got a dud pedal or maybe just don't know how to use it
I was under the impression this way a dual delay, probably because of the size, but it's just a Carbon Copy in a massive box with tap & some bells. To bad, if it was a dual delay it'd make the G.A.S. list but...I'll stick with my OG.
I'd still rather have the new Walrus delay. Or a "Deluxe" that has an analog on one side and a djgital like the Flashback or Obscura type on the other.
HELP! I HATE that shrill noise you get when you do bends. I don’t have this problem on even cheap amplifiers with built in delay. They just sound very smooth. What can I do to create a setting for solos in the blues and shred genre that won’t have that piercing effect. I think it happens when while the bend is being released it’s still repeating so created the effect of an out of tune guitar.

I agree that it's not a great demo, and I know that delay is used a ton in other types of music. But most guitar players are doing straight ahead power chord rhythm playing or blues based lead. That's the target demographic. It's not some prog metal oriented super delay like a Strymon or something. MXR is selling to the largest market, and that's people who play like in the demo.
That dude is a demo guy for Dunlop\MXR. He said so in the video. It most likely was not Reverb's choice. Also, that was a pretty crap demo, even for a blues dude.

If it's not too late, I'm going to post a detailed demo of the carbon copy deluxe INCLUDING this exact feature! Because i had to sit there and figure it out and count it out and all that myself. Now I have the knowledge to share the info in a simplified way. Keep an eye out hopefully next week when i get my guitar out of the shop lol
that's what im wondering. i would love to replace my CC with this, but it depends. I already have 2 other delays so I aint breaking the bank over options the CC should have had to begin with.
Saam Yeah, that's the tough thing about delays...there's a bunch of great ones out there, but they're usually either super expensive or take up a lot of room (because you can only fit so many delays on your board.)
This is great but I honestly think the original is great, I with they just added a tap tempo and made it similar size to the new xotic rc, this is looking a bit too much.

I like the tones I get out of it more then my DD-500 which was expensive. You lose all kinds of presents and functions but for bread and butter delaya- DD-8 and NOT the MXR.

Vertex steel string supreme, Strymon riverside, Ronno Bender by manlay sounds, MXR sugar drive and a wah. Excited to use my new pedalboard with my first tube amp!

The original Carbon Copy never sounded this distant. I've had a Skreddy Echo that experienced the same low repeats. The pedal was faulty.

How do you get at the internal dipswitches in the Carbon Copy Deluxe? The bottom backplate does not have regular screws.
