I loved playing Telestrations during Wavecon - it's such a fun game (especially when you have people playing the game who are terrible at drawing …. like me lol!)
I'm only at 38:42, but how I would draw First Person Shooter: draw three people with an arrow pointing to the first, + a gun, = a video game controller connected to a TV. If you know that it equals a video game, and you have the gun, then "shooter" should already be in mind, and FPS should come easily from there especially with the first person arrow. Maybe. Anyway, back to the video!
Awardings points in this game is a bit weird. Most of the time we play without awarding points or do the points based on a "what if we played with points?". In general I think you shouldn't play it with people who can draw specifically well. The worse you draw, the more fun it is.
Yup, my family used to play this game we called picture telephone, where you basically did exactly this except you came up with your own word or phrase and used a piece of paper that you folded down over the preceding word or illustration, then at the end you unfolded the whole thing and went through it. Though I think the format of this being a board game or kit so to speak streamlines the experience more and makes it easier for newbies to play.
