Fx and fx pro are def better. The paddles are downgraded. The rotaries are downgraded and its just a downgraded wheel. I love my gt neo but i believe peopel have gotten to out of hand and setting way to high expectations. When i got it I expected this flagship feleing wheel due to how cfazy reactions are haha. Now you have people out here who dont have the fx or fx pro saying oh gt neo is better oh it feels as quality etc and they are just full of it. The gt neo is the best budget wheel on the market but yes still had corners cut for sure. I also believe people get new things and they get carried away with there opinions and go arouns screaming the best thing ever omg best wheel ever made best base ever made etc. Same goes with the fsr moza owners out here trying to act like the fsr is as good as the fx pro they feel like two different worlds when in the hand. The fx pro feels way more quality with real cf. With much better condtruction overall. So just some examples i wish more would return to earth and stop being so bias. You were absolutely spot on. Thank you for being honest. You pointed out things no reviews do. They are over selling the wheel. People really think this wheel is the same as a cueb controls f-core in quality and its just not true. Fx pro now is def at that level.
Tbh I mean its not about being bias here. Quality is quality and it's a fact. better materials stronger wheel higher quality part= more quality. The gt neo is a monster for race feel. The way it feels in racing may be one of the best wheels made but the wsy it feels in hand with the thinner rubber on the grips harder and the more open plastic hollow sound when you hear the ffb and the shifters resonate through it. The buttons are a hard plastic instead of s slight rubber nice touch mixed wit plastic. The fx is made with a gull alu body mixed with a real cf front plate. Instead of a plastic composite made to reduce cost. Dont get me wrong its one of the best plastic composites on a wheel ive ever felt. Def quality for the price! But these wheels are both incredible its just the fx is more quality overall but you can't go wrong with the gt neo due to just how incredible it feels when actually racing. So does the fx imo the fx feels even better then the fx pro in actual racing. Also the way the ffb feels coming through that alu back and then full of front plate reslly has a density the other wheels from simagic doesn't have. @thijsazerty692
So update guys! Every simagic wheel now comes with the new qr. Even my fx pro came with it. For me and newer buyers makes it easy dont have to calibrate it each time or center it I mean. Love the fx pro now want the fx to replace my gt neo tbh.
Oh man, im honestly conflicted. I have the FX Pro and I kinda wanna just have the GT neo, I use lovely dashboard overlay on screen, so currently have my wheel dash and rpms turned off. I don’t wish I had more paddles on the Neo, but I don’t drive F1 cars very often, so maybe it matters more if you do. On the FX they would be nice, since I’m limited to one funky switch and only 3 rotaries with that one I definitely find the grip shape of the Neo more comfortable, especially without gloves. With gloves they are about equal
Hey, great video and thanks for the recommendation on Reddit. Stupid account got banned again so couldn't say thank you there, but cheers. Ordered with the maglink a few hours ago, can't wait to get my hands on it
Size comparison between the two? I know the neo is 300mm and the fx is 290mm. Does the fx feel small in your hands or can you not tell a difference that much?
@@bfife22 I'm switching from Fanatec to Simagic, and I'm looking at the FX pro, bc cool. It's also so much money that I don't want to be unhappy. Currently have the McLaren GT3 (300mm) and the formula v1 (270mm). The formula hurts my hands because of how small it is. Does the FX become uncomfortable during longer races?
@@RBZENKI Yeah the FX Pro is a big jump up price wise from even the FX lol. I find the FX comfortable enough for longer races, though I've found I prefer to wear gloves with it, where on the Neo I actually prefer not to. The grip shape of the Neo is just smoother/more ergonomic to me.
Nice comparison. I don't own any Simagic wheel. Just a Fanatec Esport Formula wheel. I mostly play ACC with it and very happy doing so despite not owning a GT3 specific wheel. If I buy a Simagic wheelbase along with the FX wheel, do you think it is detrimental or incorrect to play ACC with formula one wheels?
What a great review ans also very honest and different than the overall overhype around the Neo. It's good to compare it keeping it's price in mind, but still, this will no be an high end wheel

No those extra pieces are for maglink/simhub so you can use it with other bases unlike there other wheels can't. From ehat was explained to me by simagic. It was something they had to do for it to work with others. The whole goal was a budget wheel that anyone could buy and use. As you stated so that's good! there is a reason simagic was sending out the v3 bases for a few reviews to them thats there new base. @bfife22
@@madgamer574 No, the FX does not support it unfortunately. The Neo supports it on the top two encoders only when used wirelessly, and on all 4 when used with Maglink through SimHub.
What a great review - thank you. I have a GT4 and am planning on getting a GT Neo. My main concern is if the shifters are loud on the Neo Are the paddles similar to the GT4 and can be muted with pads?
I doubt you will need to mute them with pads. I don't have a GT4 wheel to compare them against, but they are easily the quietest paddles of all my wheels, especially on the return travel.
Hey, thank you for the video, great all around information that I was looking for. I am about to get the FX but I am worried on cornered form factor where the thumbs rest. Considering not using any gloves on FX wheel, does your thumbs hurt or disturbed by those corners over time? Specially matching with bases like Alpha or Ultimate with high tork levels...
@@olcique It can hurt when catching a slide or from long races without gloves. But honestly you could probably wrap that edge with some grip tape to smooth the transition from the grip to the body and make it less pronounced. I have an Alpha Mini, so it’s possible it could be worse on other bases, but wouldn’t be able to say myself
@@olcique You'd just have to cut a thin piece of grip tape probably. And really it's just the corner that you'd want to try and cover, and not the front facing side.
@@bfife22 Okay I will try... If I get it, I will get this as a bundle so don't have much choice anyway. But this wheel's selling point is premium feel/looks and build quality so taping it as such is a bit ironic to be honest...
@@olcique I mean you aren’t wrong on that point haha. And honestly you may find you have no issue with it. I know someone with an FX Pro who never uses gloves and finds it perfectly comfortable
Is it possible to mount the paddels to the other side of the shifter arm? That way it would be closer to the front of the wheel and the screws wouldn't disturb as they would be on the other side of the paddles. I'm guessing it should be possible by swapping left and right paddles since the holes are not symmetric.
It's definitely possible. Quite tricky to get the screws in correctly with the limited space behind the grip, and the magnet on the shifter arm trying to yank the screws away haha.
Purely on usability, I’d personally choose the Neo, unless I absolutely wanted the extra thumb encoders of the FX above all else. The Neo having the option to take advantage of extra settings in SimHub with Maglink sets it apart, in case I wanted to do that in the future. Maglink also allows the option of using it on a different brand wheelbase if you ever switch in the future, whereas the FX can only be used with Simagic wheelbases. I find the grip shape of the Neo basically perfect too.
It would be yes. They are positioned where my index finger and middle finger rest on them naturally, so you wouldn’t have to reposition your middle finger in any way
Question then: I’m going to get this wheel and the Moza R9. Do i need to buy the Moza quick release or just the maglink since the QR’s are the same size?
I believe just the Maglink, but not 100% sure. Might be worth looking on a Moza Forum or Discord to verify someone else had success, as I haven’t used any Moza products. I would be slightly concerned about the pins in the Simagic QR making contact with the Moza base and causing issues, but you can remove the board with the pins on it, through the backside of the QR to eliminate that chance.
