I am a born and bred Kentuckian and I have heard this song a.million times. But this version is the absolute best there is. I couldn't stop crying, because although I have traveled and lived in many different places, Kentucky will always be home. I am back home again as Kentucky always pulls me back. Please tell the guys that I appreciate their version. I wish they could sing it on senior night for all the sports, especially basketball for both the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville. There would not be a dry eye in the house. Thank you again for reminding me that I am so proud to be from Kentucky.
This version needs to be recorded and released and played all the time. The song in itself is beautiful anyway, but these men make it modern and it's an beautiful improvement. Somebody give this version to every media outlet.

This is a beautiful rendition of a song that really shouldn’t be performed anymore. It’s about slaves being sold south to a “crueler” form of slavery than that of Kentucky, and pining not for freedom, but just to return their “old Kentucky home” where slavery wasn’t quite so bad. Even though the words have been cleaned up, the song’s white supremacist legacy is entrenched and cannot be washed away.

Everyone makes much to do about sports teams using Native American symbols and mascots, I wonder what would happen if everyone starts singing the original version of "My Old Kentucky Home"? If you're going to do a thing, be true to the thing!
They know the original lyrics....that's why they changed it up a bit. They didn't want it to sound like a song of racial tension. Although the original song isn't intended to sound that way, they wanted to change it so that everyone could enjoy it without offending anyone. If you want their whole opinion on the song, they have their own page on TH-cam and Facebook. You could message them there. They're all really great guys. They just want to make music that everyone can enjoy, regardless of race, gender, musical preference and such.
