Camera shown is the GoPro Hero3 Black. Settings will be slightly different on the Silver, White and Hero3+.
Still helping people in 2020. I just acquired a 3+ silver, and a 3+ black. I had zero knowledge, and this helped me tremendously.
Does your take long to download video from the go pro app?
@@spazsi3838 Yes. Depending on the quality I choose to record in, and the length, it can take a long time, sometimes longer than a battery will last so I keep it plugged. The desktop version is faster, or pulling the card and plugging it into a desktop with an adapter. But I much prefer the gopro app on the phone.

@@spazsi3838 It's an immense amount of data to transfer wirelessly is why it takes so long. Memory card in the computer/laptop is the fastest way, but often I'm out in the field, and can't easily access a computer, and want the videos on my phone to have them easily accessible. I've noticed if I keep the video length under 10 minutes, or shoot short videos, it tends to be somewhat faster. Also, I started recorded in 960, and even 720 sometimes, and it was much faster on the uploads.

Ive got the 3+ silver.
Some of the settings have nit been to sure of what they are or reason for them but this has helped alot.

Thanks. Go to settings (Wrench) using the Mode button. Push Shutter button to select it. Push Mode button to switch from Video to Photo Settings and hit the shutter button to select it. Use the Mode button to select either: 12MP Wide, 7MP Wide, 7MP MED (Medium) or 5 MP MED. 12, 7 and 5 are your options on the Hero3 for MP.

What are the mm options for the lens.....wide = 28mm?, = 35mm. and 50mm?? I am talking about the GoPro Hero 3 Black
I believe wider like 16mm and 35mm. But unsure of the entire range and hard to find now.

Why my hero go pro 3 doesnt have 30fps and 50 fps. It only have 24,25,48,50 fps what should i choose?
Switching from PAL to NTSC will give you different options between 24/30/48/60 or 25/50 in the settings menu.
HOW do you get to your videos and scroll through them?
With the Hero3 in this video, you'll have to connect it to your phone with the GoPro app. Then scroll through your videos on your phone. You can't do it on the camera itself.
If you have a Hero7, you can do what you're asking on the back screen by tapping the icon that looks like a bunch of clustered boxes in a grid when you're in the video preview area.

It has to be the Hero3 Black to have 4K capabilities. An easy check is to look at the "3" on front of the camera. Is it white, silver or black. The color of the 3 refers to the model. If it's silver or white it can't shoot 4K video.
@@AndrewSebrell Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the 3 is white. I ask you one more thing (I'm a beginner). It is possible to load the fw of the hero 3+ on a hero 3.

@@lucaferrando6465 the features like SuperView made for the 3+ won’t work on the 3. I tried a long time ago. The hardware doesn’t support it. I don’t think the 3+ firmware will add anything the latest software for 3 doesn’t cover unless you have the 3+.

Try updating your camera software. This has been a known issue that should be fixed.

@@AndrewSebrell my gopro 3+ silver edition is another issue. it will turn on but freez immediately. i repeat many times but still freeze. i followed the instruction to hard reset but still freeze on startup. i put the sdcard which is contain firmware upgrade but still freeze on startup. plus it getting hot and hot

@@momogunsabah Try a different SD card without the firmware on it and/or a new battery. Connect your GoPro to a computer and manually update your software. You can do this through GoPro Quik on your computer. Plug it into your computer and turn it on and see what happens with and without an SD card and battery. The combo might tell you where the issue is stemming from.

Have you tried GoPro Quik on the desktop? As you watch your video and hit the Highlight button when you want to include a clip, then the software will build a video around your highlights. How the hell do you get it to take non wide angle photos? Ie close ups?
Try 7MP Medium, not wide. Its not really a camera for close ups but its the best you can do from these options:
12mp - Wide
7mp - Wide
7mp - Med
5mp - Med
this must be the hero 3+ because I have the hero 3 and there is no option for wide or narrow
No, it's the Hero3 Black. I bought it when it was released before the 3+ came out. Also, the 3+ has a distinct "+" on the front of it. You probably have the Hero3 White which does not have all the FOV options that the Hero3 Black has.

You probably have the Hero3 white or silver edition. The color of the “3” on the front after “Hero” will tell you

I am a professional photographer. I had never used a camera that was as frustrating to use as the GoPro. These menus and lack of direct settings is pathetic. One of the most useless purchases I made.

Yes. You can set up a looping video with different recording lengths. So, after 5 min just say, it’ll start recording over itself. Works as a dash cam

mine records in 17min increment when i put the SD Card in laptop to view it there is 3 or 4 videos 17min long, is there a way to make it record one long video, maybe i didn't understand your Video?
That's perfectly normal. If you recorded in 4K, that time would probably be more like 5 min. GoPros record about 4GB worth of data before making a new file for many reasons. You just have to stitch them together. It should be seamless.

Just purchased a Hero3+ at a pawn shop. How do I tell which model (color) I have?
Stormy Look at the number 3 on front of the camera. Silver should have a silver 3. Black has a Black 3.

That cut to you flyfishing at the end has me excited. I use mine while out fishing. Want to get a chest mount because the head mount is hard to get an ideal angle on, but I use a chest pack when trout fishing. What's your setup?
Chest mount. I like the vantage point of having the reel and rod in a larger portion of shot. Plus, it is steadier. You can also use the Jr. Chest Mount, but just use the waist strap, not the shoulder harnesses.
@@AndrewSebrell Thanks for the response. Jr mount around the chest pack is a great idea. I've got a Hero 3 white right now and it's just not that great. Considering upgrading. Should I get an 8 or would an older model suffice?
@@seanbeck1370 I tend to upgrade every 2-3 cameras. I have the 7 Black, so I didn't get the 8. If you find a good deal on the Hero7 Black, I'd go with that. Alternatively, I think GoPro is having a trade up right now. You could send in your Hero3 for a Hero8 discount.

I would update the Hero3 personally. Although it does shoot 4K, the newer models have so much more clarity and stabilization. You don't have to get a 9 though. Find a discounted Hero7 or 8.
@@AndrewSebrell well I’ve had a hero 3 since it came out but only used it a few times as it kept shutting off on me and then stopped working. Just ordered new batteries for it. if I can get it working again and make a few decent videos I’ll upgrade the camera to a 7 or 8

How did you get 4K on Hero#?
The only GoPro Hero3 that is capable of 4K is the Hero3 Black. Make sure you don't have the Hero3 White or Silver.
