Wait, Hold up! The mother didn't go to the trial to hear the evidence and insisted he was not guilty based on the fact that She didn't want it to be him. Finally hears the evidence, realizes he is guilty and doesn't know how he could've lied to her.. That poor girl. Her mother should've taken her side from the start and supported the investigation to find the truth. Willing ignorance. This case is beyond sad! Those kids lost both parents and had to hear the shots that took their mother from them! I'm glad they found him guilty! So many red flags.

      First spot on comment.
I feel sorry for the mother - no mother should lose her children - but "the ostrich syndrome" (head in the sand) is obvious in her case. Moreover, she didn't fight for her grandkids and allowed them to be raised by HIS parents, what kind of bull is that?

For one highly unlikely thing to occur during a suicide is odd, but not entirely unbelievable. For several highly unlikely things to occur is entirely unbelievable. In this case, the husband expects everyone to believe that...
    1) His wife opted to commit suicide via gun, even though women rarely commit suicide that way
    ...AND...
    2) She decided to shoot with her left hand despite being right handed
    ...AND...
    3) Despite being in the driver's seat of her vehicle, she somehow managed to hold and shoot the gun from at least a foot away from her head
    ...AND...
    4) After shooting herself once, she shot herself again (still with her left hand from a foot away) for good measure.
To reiterate, on its own, any of those four aspects of the husband's story is hard to believe.... For all of these extremely rare and unlikely things to occur is impossible to believe.

I couldn’t believe that Tiffany’s mother Cheryl supported Jason. She kept saying ‘my son in law ‘ and not once did she refer to her daughter . She only attended court once during the trial and when she did , she was on the Stand saying how wonderful Jason was . She never attended court to hear the evidence against the man who possibly murdered her daughter . She fully supported him and his parents. Even when the verdict came through she was sitting behind Jason’s parents . It’s very odd that she never once questioned Jason’s guilt . If the verdict had been ‘ not guilty ‘ she would have readily accepted that her daughter committed suicide . And she even said she didn’t want to jeopardise his Appeal so wouldn’t say anything more to the 48 hour reporter .
Good that she finally spoke out during his sentencing .
I hope she contests Jason’s release in 14 yrs time, though I doubt she will . ( He has 15 yr minimum sentence)
It was disgusting that Jason’s parents brought the children along for sentencing . It was a tactic to garner sympathy for Jason but the judge is used to that! .
They should never have got custody of the children . They won’t keep the children’s mother’s memory alive in a good way . They’ll tell the children that their mother committed suicide and their father is innocent . The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Again, did I hear it correctly that she cheated on him not once but twice?! When people push others to that kind of limit, take them for that wild of an emotional ride, no one can complain then when that rope gets stretched too thin and eventually just breaks. He wasn't exactly the smartest in killing her tho, and in doing so totally allowing for her to destroy his life. He was angry at how he had allowed for her to play him for a fool, that anger blinded him and is what made him pull that trigger. It could have all been avoided if he had simply just left after the first time she cheated. They didn't have children, what made him stay after the first time she cheated?! That's what he was angry at, himself, because he didn't have the self respect to just leave the first time she did it; and because he didn't leave then she did it again, played him for a fool again. That's what killed him. It's time people understand something for once and for all, people will do what they will do, they can try to throw whatever bs they can try to throw at us, it's the way that we respond to it that determines who the fool is.

    1. As someone who has the most unexpected reactions to high stress situations, putting so much emphesis on 911 calls is not a very good idea. Some people just can't process what's going on like the average person.
    2. Saying someone would NOT commit suicide because they didn't look like it is ignorant. In this case she has written in her diary that she was struggling, her friends said her lover had broken up with her and she learned that her husband had found out about the affair. Statistically suicide is much more a spur of the moment decision as opposed to a calculated and thought out one.

It was heart breaking to see a mother not upset and seeking justice for her slain daughter, and I figured she was doing that so that she would continue to have access to her grand children. She seemed to mirror her son in law's pragmatic disposition. Then they show her the evidence and she comes out of her stupor and shows the despair of the loss of her daughter and in front of her grandchildren. Jason has a hold on his mother in law.

Am I the only person who understands why the mother is doing this? She wants a relationship with her grandchildren! He can prevent that just bc, let alone testifying against him. The grandchildren are all she has left of her daughter. I would hope she will change her mind as the children get older, or if her family has custody of the kids.
Cheating is dangerous. I cheated on my first husband w/my second husband. That was 37 years ago and I am still married to my 2nd…. Never cheated again…. It isn’t right. It causes too much pain. But, it was always in the back of my mind that anger, and pain can cause some people to do horrible things.

And her current husband was leading a normal life as a single parent prior to meeting her and was perfectly normal thru his marriage with her - no abuse, no cheating . Maybe her Mother found it difficult to empathize with her daughter to accept him as her killer

I remember a story where a guy tried committing suicide but pulled that gun away at the last moment and shot his chin off I believe. He was so messed up that he was unable to shoot again, he went unconscious and then died from the blood loss. Can’t remember the specifics completely, but there’s no way a small woman can shoot herself twice. I believe she would’ve went unconscious from the pain and shock from the first shot.

I was going to church, volunteering, and had done an evaluation with a counselor, but had thoughts of suicide. I never told anyone. Usually the people who are serious about it don’t tell anyone. I did attempt it, too. Have had thoughts of it since and I now have a loving husband and two children. So people saying ‘oh no, she seemed fine, she was helping people and started seeing a counselor’ doesn’t mean anything.
Regardless of the verdict or what actually happened in this particular case, people need to keep that in mind. People often commit suicide when no one saw it coming.

I’m not saying that SHE committed suicide though.

I hate this kind of argument, to be honest. Everybody's different, and far too many innocent people have been persecuted or convicted from somebody's idea of inappropriate emotional response.. He did not feel right when the cops showed up, but the emotion wasn't the problem. Rather, what he said sounded like he was telling a story, not like he was actually remembering something that had just happened. I've had to talk to the police before about a violent crime that just happened; it just doesn't sound like that. You backtrack, you correct yourself, you add things. You think a lot, trying to make sure you're remembering and retelling it accurately. It's nothing like this. Edit: He used the exact same words to the Dateline person! Totally a memorized story.
