If there's a beginner for side-to-side, I think there are some tips I could give. This is based on my experience, some of the tips are situational, so take this with a grain of salt.
    1. Ofc look carefully at your partner cards. Always don't forget to click UNO BEFORE you discard the card before the last one. If you throw the card first, people will catch you and you have to draw 2 more cards.
    2. Use your wild carefully and wisely. This is situational, but well, at the very start of the game, there are few chance opposed team are going to change the color (either through discard all or using wild) if the partner with good cards or you don't have certain color.
    3. Learn the concept of "Challenge it". This is sometimes frustrating to me because some people don't get it. They either stack their +4 or end up draw the cards. Basically, once someone draw +4 over you, you have to guess if they have the card before they change the color, right? If you feel they have the color, you can "challenge it" instead of drawing the cards so your opponents draw the cards instead. In case of opponents, if they took many cards (more than 8-10 card), there's 80% chance that the opponent has the color of all cards. So, there are probability you'll be safe to click "Challenge it".
However, in side-to-side mode, there are certain situation where your partner only have +4 instead of regular wild to help you throw your last colored card. They usually tell you to "challenge it", because they still have the latest color card and their only intention is change the color for you. Ex: you have [+4, +4, green], the latest color is [red] so your partner use their +4 to pick [green] while they still have [red]. Rest assured, it should be safe to click "Challenge it", you can see your partner cards after all. The partner will take more cards, while you're ready to troll people 😂
    4. This is very situational and I think can be used for regular 2v2 too. While discard card is good for throwing one colored cards, sometimes we have to be careful too. When you use this card, someone can discard cards of another color too. In case of keeping certain color, maybe you need to throw regular card to keep the color even if you can discard all. Avoid using skip and reverse card, because they can change the color as well.
    5. Sometimes taking a card while you still have the color won't hurt especially if you and your teammate have a lot of reverse and it keeps reversing between you and your teammate until one of you win the game.
    6. Opposite of number 2, use your regular wild card if you feel suspicious. There are some situation where people use the wild card at the start of the game. It's either one of them have so many wild cards or they only have one colored cards with discard card (once they are able to throw it at once, they automatically win). A bit risky, but sometimes helpful.
    7. You have to be suspicious with someone that throw +2 very early, they either try to get their partner helpful cards, want to make opponent discard their +4 or they have many +4. Maybe at some Cases, they're just as dumb as ever but who knows? 😂
    8. If you're leading and in last 30 to 15 seconds. Maybe you can throw your card as late as possible (until time runs out), so your opponent don't have chance to throw their cards. In case of not having card to throw, wait until the time ALMOST run out and draw. If you draw same color cards or wild, throw them away quickly.
Slightly out of topic, bonus for regular 2vs2:
    1. This is a very risky tip but I came to understand this trick recently. Let's say I have [wild, red] and partner in front of me has [+4, red, green]. Sometimes there's case where the opponent of the next turn has the same card color as you. So you have to use your wild and ask for color that both of the partner and the opponent of the next turn don't have. In this case, let's just say Yellow. If the opponent of the next turn luckily don't have wild/skipping/surprisingly have the yellow card, then your partner can throw away +4 and asked for red. It's quite tricky since we have no idea either they have +4 or not. If they don't have +4, they can't challenge it either and skip to you who have the red card.
    2. You can try not throwing anything if your partner ask for certain color even if you have that color (unless it's skip, just use it). Sometimes it went like this:
Your partner ask for red card.
    A) Opponent 1: don't have red card, decided to take one card.
    B) You: have red card
    C) Opponent 2: either have or don't have.
In this case Opponent 2 will be forced to either put their red card or take one more card. However, if opponent 1 have red card, you can use your regular card to keep the color. It's because the color have few chance to be changed anyway, so you want to discard one of your card. Still, avoid throwing discard all if your partner is about to clear all of their colored cards (unless your partner has discard card too).
It's quite long. Sorry if my words are quite complicated, english isn't my mother language. I guess that's all I can share, keep in mind this is situational. Sometimes it's applicable, sometimes it isn't.
