Panchayati Raj system means that the government of the village. Similar pattern is also there in the urban area which we know as Nagar Panchayat. In the 74th Amendment to the Constitution of India, urban local governance has been divided into three distinct levels. The smallest unit of which is the Nagar Panchayat. Its largest unit is the Municipal Corporation, followed by the Nagar Palika Parishad and then the Nagar Panchayat. Today we will learn about this Nagar Panchayat.
