Teutonics failed micro management... they move around like chicken...
I found that it can go both ways (when going according to equal numbers, not sure about equal resources though)
@@epicsheepgamer7002 With even numbers, the higher the number, the more likely the Samurai win. Samurai are quick and fight well together, whereas Teutonic Knights are slow. 1v1 Teutonic Knight wins, but 15v15 or say, 100v100, Samurais win.

I feel this should have been balanced using resource cost

War elephants would still win most matchups, thats how good they are vs unique units
Japanese have one of the best counter againts war elephants in the game. They wont use sams in persian matchup.
@@eget4144 and good persian players won't use war elephant to counter infantry when they can just mass archer units with zero gold cost due to their unique tech and overrun Japanese base with nothing but archers, like an army of goth but ranged.
@@Ragensu64 and good japanese players wont use halbs and samu against the archers of persians but skirms which are pretty good from japanese. So it will depend who is the better player.

@@eget4144 u mean all, in theory. In the battlefield well, they counter better some than others because of the other units bonuses ;). Samurai vs Jaguar warrior (unique unit bonus vs infantry unit bonus), theay are practically equal
@@pope00 No because Japanese attack 33% faster, so while Jaguars do more damage per hit Samurai hits faster and does more damage overall, Jaguars does 31 dmg per swing against infantry, Samurai do 28 damage but do 33% more attacks in the same span of time. Of course Jaguars are much better because they counter all infantry and the Japanese anti unique bonus is not as useful as a lot of UU counter infrantry hardly like Cataphracts or most archer units.

and in the Mangudai's case obviously the Mangudai would win in a normal match because they won't just stay still, they shot and retreat, kinda the same for most of archer civilizations and mamluks

Yeah, I don't play the game, but the numbers versus elephants and artillery just didn't look remotely like a situation that should happen in the game.

Champs (especially Aztec) already have high damage, rivalled only by heavy cavalry like Paladins, but they still lose badly to most popular units (mass archers, heavy cavalry, and so on). Jags are better against infantry, but that's not something that helps Champ-like, because you don't make infantry to kill infantry, unless you face pikes (which Aztecs will never do), neither it fixes any of its weaknesses, while being harder to mass and more expensive. That's why Huscalrs, being quite weak and expensive, are good UU whereas Jags are bad: Huskarls are infantry that is basically immune to traditional counter whereas keeping all strong sides (fast building razing, countering trash, being light on gold and spammable).

Wouldn't it make more sense to send 15 samurai against the number of units that cost roughly the same amount of ressources? Many cavalry units are very strong individually, but they're also very expensive.
when the samurai attacks the long bow archer, the archers can't even survive long enough to let us see their health bar

You must make a video about cost benefit. Units prices x units amount. For example, War Elephants cost something around of 3x more than Samurais. So, must be 3x less elephants against Samurais

Samurai only lost to Cataphract, Mangudai, War elephant, Mameluke, War wagon, Elephant archer, Ballista elephant and Leitis. Even then they were still cost effective most of the time of course. To my surprise they beat Boyar and Slinger but lost to Leitis.
Im not sure about Cata, he has massive bonus against infantry. Yeah, Boyar surprised me too.

One reason of why I like Samurais is how versatile they can be, even though the halberdier and elite skirmisher can do better in other things.
And one advice, try to use more Karambit Warriors, because they only take 0.5 population

Not every unit must excel in every situation. Karambits are a swarm unit suited to taking out infantry and archers with a 2-to-1 or higher superiority of numbers.
Predicting Cataphacts, Elephants and mangadi come out on top.
Cataphracts were like, "Unique Unit Bonus Damage? What Bonus Damage?"
They have anti-infantry negation, but not anti unique (cataphracts get bonus damage), the caveat is that samurai is still infantry
Samuri have +10 bonus and unique units and cataphracts have +10 against infantry. So they cancel out and cataphracts with higher Malay and HP get the win.

samurai in this game is in medieval time, while samurai in the Tom cruise movie is in early modern period (Age of industrial Revolutions)
Sometimes what makes or breaks these units is not how good a killer or tank they are but how cost effective they are. Something that isn't shown in this video, highlighted by the samurai fighting the elephants both having equal population.

The flaw is that the ranged units should never engage like that. If I controlled the longbows they’d hit and run and kill each samurai and lose maybe 1 at most
Yes of course, but as he has to test about 50 units against each other, with well over 2000 battles in total, having to micro each individual archer is going to take a lot more time and effort than just 'a-moving'

Obviously, when you have firing units, especially firing rider units, you want to use micro control instead of making them fight face to face with infantry.
That way, they will have no chances against Manguadais , in case of equal number of units, of course.
This shows how OP some units are. Winning melee fight against samurai.
So they can win against any infantry , archers and some cavalry too.. Amazed ♥️

That’s smg I’ve actually been wondering: do units such as the Imperial camel and Imperial skirmisher count as unique units in regard to the samurai’s bonus attack? Both are specific to one faction, but they’re also upgrades of already existing non-unique units

Samurai are the best overall unit in the game. Not only do they trade cost-efficiently with all other unique units, but they also trade cost-efficiently with archers, skirmishers, and pikemen. They're basically Champions with 25% faster attack speed. They essentially have no weakness because they don't have a hard counter. (All the unique units that can counter them, they can counter too)

Basically, if it's a unique unit and it doesn't have buckets of health, it gets stomped by the samurai, with very few exceptions.
No micro is used for horseback shooters - these would probably win the fight.

So what I learned about history: The Samurai, dedicated, trained warriors, are no match for an Elephant in a fight to the death.
Basically Samurai only can deals with feet units except Teuton Knights, and lose against most part of the mounted units except for Spanish Conquerors without micro.
Kokushibo samurai: i fear no man, but that thing (Yorrichi skills) its scares me

Actually for the game Imp skirms and Camels aren't unique units, they are merely unlocked by a special upgrade. So the Samurai won not because of its bonus but because they are just anti-cav/anti-archer units.
Samursi won because they were up vs trash units. Trash units lose to everything else they don't specifically counter.
