If Biden is running the country in his current state, it makes me wonder how important a president’s role really is in the United Sates.

Picking better candidates should have happened a couple of years ago or even before either of them became president.
The inability of these powerful parties to find better leaders underlines their hidden failures to lead.
Neither party is powerful politically. Both of them are basically fund-raising organizations with little policy influence. Wealthy donors call the shots. The Republican party establishment never wanted Trump. In 2016 they fought him tooth and nail but the other candidates were so lame they were crushed by Trump, who has now taken over. The Democratic party *did* want Biden for some inexplicable reason, and continued to want him until that position became impossble to maintain after the debate.
Our primary system, which assigns huge power and influence to the voters of Iowa and New Hampshire, is so ludicrous that a room full of five year olds could design a better one. If you want to know how we end up with two terrible candidates, over and over again, start with the Iowa caucuses. I am 70 years old and I have never, in my entire life, been able to vote in a Presidential primary that could have made any difference at all.
It’s an ego play. We’re experiencing the same thing in Canada right now. Most of our current leaders party has requested he step down. Both Trudeau & Biden refuse to accept that their time is over, & in return their parties have plummeted in the polls. I’m not captain conservative & I’m certainly not pro trump, but the libs & democrats have done an awful job over these past few years. With the funding of wars, intentional cultural divisions, & astronomical inflation I will be hard pressed to see either of them remain in the driver seat for much longer.
The only issue I have with this analysis is the notion that the Republicans would do better if they dropped Trump. Trump is the only thing keeping the Republican Party alive for most “normal” people.
The Republican Party turned against their values decades ago and millions of people want to vote for Trump because he might actually reverse some of that decline. Trump may offend a lot of people, but he also galvanizes millions more.

Biden looked like the seniors in the visiting lounge when I visited my grandma at the nursing home. Many times with a look on her face of confusion, nodding off, and her mouth open with blank stares. He clearly is running half-speed. Jill is so wrong to put him out there like that.

The man is sundowning & there are no two ways about it. This is elder abuse & the fact that we're all dancing around it is disturbing.

Those are not symptoms of dementia but rather Parkinson’s disease. The falling over also fits with a diagnosis of PD. My husband died with this condition. He had all those symptoms.

That being said, theres a lack of shaking an twitching which would turn me away from pd, an the ramblings an losing ur train of thought are more consistent with alzhiemers. The falling is consistent actually with age (your field of view narrows), but increased by the inflammation of the brain an its ability to process info quickly, again similar in both conditions.

The format, perhaps designed to contain Trump, put a frame around each candidate, metaphorically, that isolated their answers and the way they answered in their own context, without anything to intrude or distract. In this bubble, Biden could be seen without the gaslighting of the media, or Trump interjecting or interrupting. It was pure Biden. And what we saw was a man who had worked hard to try to recall a list of lies and insults he had trained to deliver, but in the manner of a man who has mostly finished a bottle of scotch. By himself.
Perhaps the very worst thing Biden could have done was forget the Marines who didnt come home from the withdrawal from Afganistan. Maybe he can remember the watch he was wearing when they were shipped back under flag covers. Maybe even what time it was.

One thing to take note is referencing illegal migrants as immigrants. There is a big difference between a person who immigrates legally to a country and a person who migrates illegally across many borders in order to illegally sneak into the United States.
If you were to look at two people who say they’re immigrants but one is illegal, would you be able to tell who is illegal and who isn’t? If there’s a big difference between the two, what would be the main tell tale sign that someone is legal vs. someone who’s illegal by just looking at them?

One gaffe that really made me upset was that Biden claimed that no servicemembers have died under his command. The fact that he completely forgot the loss of 13 American lives during the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan was incredible and certainly speaks to his mental competency.

My father struggled with dementia for years before he passed and I’m seeing the same behavior in Joe Biden that I saw in my dad when he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. The shuffling walk, the halting, somewhat slurred speech, and just the overall struggle to get a point across. I’m no Biden fan but seeing someone exhibit these symptoms is very sad for me. We did not see a leader in Joe Biden. We saw a frail, and at times, confused old man. He’s not equipped to run a grocery store let alone the United States.
Biden doesn't have dementia , all those symptoms & behaviours are due to Joe suffering from a cold.
