  • Hello dear followers, in this video I cover a topic that is frequently asked: how much should I budget for my studies in Vienna?
Well in this video you will find the answer!
    My instagram: / maria.teachie
WU BBE online entrance exam preparation course:
    www.bbe-exam.com/
    00:00-0:58 - Introduction: 3 categories of expenses
    0:59-4:43 - Monthly expenses
    4:44-7:00 - "Per semester" expenses
    7:01-7:54 - "One-time" expenses
    7:55-8:48 - Conclusion: total cost
8:49-11:05 - Documents: Bank account statement
    11:06-11:15 - Bye, bye!
The links I mentioned in the video:
The official requirements for the amount of money that should be in your bank account in order to apply for a residence permit: (scroll down until the "Checklist for a "Residence Permit - Student" part for a summary)
    oead.at/en/to-austria/entry-a...
    Minimum amount:
Students under 24 years of age: EUR 569.11/month
If the costs for accommodation exceed EUR 309.93/month [as of 2022], you have to prove additional funds.
You also have to prove sufficient funds for the necessary health insurance.
So if we assume you found a very cheap dorm (there are some) that does not exceed 309 euros a month or someone is hosting you for free, and that the price of your insurance is around 65 euros (I pay around 64 euros per month for example), then you should have:
569.11*12+65*12=7609.32 euros on your account, upon request you might be asked to show where the money came from, please read the accepted documents for that in the link above.
My estimation for a comfortable living: 1000-1200 euros per month.
Links to the health insurance you can get:
    www.gesundheitskasse.at/cdsco...
    www.feelsafe.at/?gclid=Cj0KCQ...
FeelSafe is a private insurance and the spread of services might be wider for ÖGK, the national one which a lot of people use here, but on the ad leaflet, you can see that FeelSafe says that they cover more services. So it is up to you!
There is also a website where you can find the doctor you need and see if his services will be covered by the insurance or not:
    www.docfinder.at/
Link to the tuition fees (education fees) of WU as an example:
    www.wu.ac.at/en/students/admi...
Please check your university's fees on their website.
Books: depends where and what you study, but I only bought 3 books throughout my 3 years of studies (each book costs around 20 euros).
Food: based on a survey I did on my instagram (maria.teachie, "dorms&food" highlight) students spend from 150 (buying in bulk with friends to share) up to 500 (rarely cooking at home) euros on food. A good estimation is 250-300 euros per month, the golden middle I would say.
The cheapest shop in my experience is Hofer, and if you buy the shop's brands they are the cheapest ones (e.g., the billa branded products at Billa or Clever, another great, student-budget-friendly brand sold in Billa shops).
Mobile tariff: Educom changed its name to XOXO, I use it and it is great.
    www.xoxo-mobile.at/#
Housing: I did a great video on that before • Where to live as a stu... , all the details are there;)
But a good dorm will cost you around 500 euros per month I would say.
Takeout/going out: an average meal or a fancy cocktail costs around
    10-15 euros.
The food you see in these pictures is from:
    Burger's Bar (pretty self explanatory)
    Shin (Taiwanese cuisine)
    TeaPlus (bubble tea)
    Adlerhof (cafe)
    TOGA (bar)
WikiWiki Poke (wasnt my favorite to be honest, poke bowls)
    Transportation:
Google maps builds great routes with precise times of arrival/departure of the metro
WienMobil is where you buy your student semester ticket (75 euros per semester, 29.50 per month in July and August as summer months) online
ÖBB is for trains (e.g., going from or to the airport, since it is outside of Vienna, or going to Budapest for example).
Travel: unlimited, this summer I went to Budapest, Palermo and Palma de Mallorca, unforgettable experiences with friends that turned out to be affordable;) you do not have to spend a fortune on plane tickets since most cities in Europe are pretty close to Vienna.
Thank you for watching and see you in the next video!

As of all the previous years the OSA questions were easier/shorter than the entrance exam questions

Great question! As I do swimming semi-professionally since my childhood I know exactly the price for 2.5 hours of using the swimming pool and its facilities is 4.60 euros, but as for gyms, it is around 20-25 euros per month.
There are 2 gyms close to WU:
      Fit Fabrik at Vorgartenstrasse: fitfabrik.at/preise.html
      FITINN at Stadion: fitinn.at/mitgliedschaft/
