After years, I've only now realized that the beginning of the song is the "winning theme"--the song you hear when Mario completes a level in Super Mario Bros.
This orchestra does everything, from Armenian Dances and Variations on a Korean Folk Song to Super Mario, Mission Impossible, and even the caped crusader! Holy variety, Batman!
I imagine a great opening sequence to a future animated Mario movie to this sequence. A poor boy living in the poor side of NYC in the 1930s is watching his mother trying to make excuses to the landlord about the condition of the piping in her house that led to an overflow of water, and the landlord threatens the mother with eviction if she doesn't find a way to pay for a plumber to fix the problem by tomorrow morning. The boy finds a sign for Mario Bros. Plumbing promising the first job with a client as free. The boy realizes that they are located in Brooklyn. He tries everything he can to reach Brooklyn in a half hour before closing, such as jumping over obstacles in alleyways and scrounging for change along the way (overworld theme), catching the Subway (underground theme), gets caught in a crowd but bursts through when he sees overworld light (star theme), and swims under the Brooklyn Bridge (water theme). Finally he gets there and hires the Mario Bros. (Peach theme and end).
Becca Hawkins ) I was thinking maybe have the young boy as an Italian immigrant living with his mother at the age of 20-25ish where basically everything happens as you explained except the plumbing company would be called "Luigi co." hence starting the Mario and Luigi relationship. I also think it would work good as a live-action (Yes I said that)
Well it seems cool but I don’t think any movie developer could truly do it right. It just would never work because they would mess something up. Or it would be terrible in general. We don’t know.
I just love how they made such simple music come to life. They added so much character to it, and made it very entertaining to listen to. Unbelievable job.
I agree. It's probably because this is a wind orchestra. No strings. God knows how difficult it is to find 50+ string players (bass players not included) who can swing properly.
It's from the "New Sounds in Brass Series" arranged by Takashi Hoshide. You can find it on Amazon Japan but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere else.
@QuackiesDuckies I feel that it's just a regular clarinet, not bass. I think bass clar is playing the bass line. Might be completely wrong though so yeah...
Haha funny you should say that- I'm pretty sure they were the ones who did the recordings for the Smashing: Live; the game developers of Melee actually used themes of theirs when synthesizing the game's tracks.
Zander Grier Whoever came up with that quote is stupid themselves because actually less than 50% of people are below average intelligence. 50% of people are less than the MEDIAN intelligence. This is a concept we learned in 3rd grade math.
@Nikkobone I'll ask my conductor about where exactly he bought the sheets, but I think it would not be of much help to you unless you are german because I'm not sure if it was bought on the net... the arrangement is by takashi hoshide, maybe it helps xD
0:00 Level clear (flag down)
0:24 Overworld theme
2:04 Underworld theme
2:34 Power Up
2:40 Starman / Coin Heaven (NES)
3:06 Hurry! (Time remain 100)
3:11 Swimming theme / Title screen (Super Mario All Stars remake)
4:16 Bowser defeated (after hitting the axe)
4:25 Princess Peach saved
5:25 Game over
I just discovered this orchestra. I think I'm in love.

1:06. The flutes. The power-up sound. Freaking awesome.
flutes, piccolos, e flat clarinet and 1st clarinet
@@kokishimoda6084 on clarinet, it’s just hard to chain, you have ne prepared for it. Other than that it’s just a nice little section
FRR
I love the fact that this outstanding musical ensemble doesn't take itself too seriously!
The 7 dislikes are from Wario, Bowser, Waluigi and some goombas and koopas.
Jordan Trombone dont forget Bowser Jr. and the pirhanas too. dont forget kamek
Now squared.
It’s a little more than 7...
There are more likes on your comment than dislikes on this video, so I consider that a win.
and the shoobs, fawful, smithy, every Mario villain hahaha
I have heard A LOT of Mario Medleys out there, Symphonic, Orchestral, you name it. But this is BY FAR the best.

This orchestra does everything, from Armenian Dances and Variations on a Korean Folk Song to Super Mario, Mission Impossible, and even the caped crusader! Holy variety, Batman!
I love how the underground theme had an 80's feel to it. This a very cool interpretation of the original piece.

Becca Hawkins That, actually seems pretty neat
Well it seems cool but I don’t think any movie developer could truly do it right. It just would never work because they would mess something up. Or it would be terrible in general. We don’t know.

I like the feel of this... It has a kind of tropical feel.
I just love how they made such simple music come to life. They added so much character to it, and made it very entertaining to listen to. Unbelievable job.

This song is a destroyer of self-confidence.................when you're playing it of course 🥲
I agree. It's probably because this is a wind orchestra. No strings. God knows how difficult it is to find 50+ string players (bass players not included) who can swing properly.

4:25 onwards would be a good national hymn if ever I'd get my own country.
I really like this!
Very true, I never took that into consideration until now.
Thanks for the feedback.
The other orchestra versions on TH-cam are nice too but this is my personal favorite.
2:51 sounds almost like they quoted 'Petroushka". I nearly jumped out of my seat lol
Hey Neil! Thank you very much for this advice. I got it and will do it with my Band :)!
at 2:50 one of the flute players is playing what sounds like a few measures from Stravinsky's Petroushka...
it fits in pretty well, though.
This is awesome!!!!!! I hope there would be Pokemon remix from this orchestra!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT!!! Our generation where real gamers played....

"Think about how stupid the average person is, and then realize that half of 'em are stupider than that."
Zander Grier Whoever came up with that quote is stupid themselves because actually less than 50% of people are below average intelligence. 50% of people are less than the MEDIAN intelligence. This is a concept we learned in 3rd grade math.
