God sure is confusing me. We're not even talking about the trinity, we're literally talking about the most miNUTE detail that has no theological impact. On the other hand, this does serious red flags about the accuracy, and reliability of the bible. You and I are able to make those mistakes, but God is above us in all aspects, meaning it is not in his nature to make those mistakes.

@@Omar-j2t now that I re-watched some of it basically the same guy ruled at different times … first as a proxy king while the real king was at war (at 22years of age) and later as king (though illegitimately…not of the line of David) at age 42…in the end God restored the line of David to the throne so Messiah could and would come through his line as foretold. But really you should watch the whole thing…he explains it all in detail.👍
@@redwolf7227 I did, but i did not understand fully. Did he rule for ONE year at both times in his life? meaning he ruled as a proxy for just ONE year and as an actual king for just ONE year? i don't remember (chicktracts) clarifying this, i could be mistaken.
@@Omar-j2t the first time was just long enough to keep the seat warm while the kings were off to battle…the second time was not long…I did not catch how long…I do get that given the genealogy in Matthew, 4 generations of the kings in Judah were not of the line of David …so God did a round-about action and through cousins who were of the line of David he restored the line to the throne after all of the evil that the decedents of ahab (Omari’s) line had done in Judah.

Isn’t the end result wonderful when someone challenges the inerrancy of the KJV Bible, causing us to dig deeper, learn more, and strengthen our faith that the LORD has provided his perfect word, translated accurately in English for us? Mr. Daniels, this truly was a difficult subject, but well worth your diligent study in scripture alone, and a very likely answer to the puzzle concerning Ahaziah’s age, co-regency, and also why kings’ names are missing in the Matthew 1 genealogy of Jesus Christ.
I am forever fascinated by the mysteries in the Bible, and the excitement when they are solved. This cannot be done with any of the modern versions which lead to dead-ends as the words and thoughts are changed. The KJV is always reliable in understanding knowledge. Jesus answered his disciples concerning why he spoke to the people in parables, and “He answered them and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.” (Matt 13:11 KJV)
Addressing the coup of Athaliah of the wicked house of Omri (Saul, et al), it was an attempt to take over the southern kingdom of Judah, and make void the everlasting covenant (2 Sam 23:5) and promise of God to David “..thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.” (2 Sam 7:16) Athaliah, under the influence of Satan, destroyed the royal seed (2 Kg 11:1) taking the throne for herself until she was slain. From what tribe was Omri? The Bible does not directly specify, however, before becoming king in Israel, he was a captain of the host, and “Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, …” (1 Kg 16:17) Gibbethon was a portion of the tribe of Dan. (Josh 19:44).
Why is the tribe of Dan excluded in Revelation 7? Samson, of the tribe of Dan, was indeed a saint (Hebrews 11:32), but did the evil of the house of Omri cause the tribe’s name to be written out? Here’s a curve ball, now, was Judas Iscariot also of Dan? Were not both of these, Athaliah and Judas, used of Satan to ultimately try to destroy Jesus’ future position as King from the lineage of King David, and, failing that, to murder him when he came in the flesh? The possibility of Judas being of the tribe of Dan is based upon “For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and, His bishoprick let another take.” (Acts 2:20) Psalm 109:8 was quoted. Reading the entire Psalm 109, but in particular, if these wicked ones were of the tribe of Dan, which is written out in Revelation 7, the text of Psalm 109:13-15 is stunning: “Let his posterity be cut off: and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.”

Thanks so much for taking the time to figure this out and putting it into a digestible order. I have been studying this for two days straight (over 12 hours) plus looking at it a few times in the past. I threw up my hands in hopelessness a few times after I filled up 3 white boards trying to draw out different possibilities. I used Floyd Nolan Jones who is usually pretty good, but he goes to the Hebrew and alters the English text. I used the commentaries and found what I expected there: “should’ve been 22 in both places” and I went to “errors in the King James Bible” which took me the farthest, but I couldn’t see that ahaziah was not of the seed of david. I feel bad now because that was the first statement in Matthew that I overlooked. It’s obvious now why those men were left out. Thanks again brother. From your first few words in the video I knew you had the answer.

Here is what the Holy Bible states:
2Kings 8:26 Two and twenty years old [was] Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

2Chronicles 22:2 Forty and two years old [was] Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also [was] Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

Notice the "REIGNED ONE YEAR" part that he missed covering in this video.
Interesting that I've been working on creating a timeline of biblical dates and that this came up simultaneously with my getting to the same point in my timeline.

I still don’t get it. It does not make sense. He was 22 as proxy king and 42 he became official king. Still we have a problem. It says he reigned for one year in 22 and he reigned one year when he was 42. Am I the only one who don’t get it ?
He became a proxy king for one year. He was a proxy king later at 42 and died after a year.
I heard a great debate. That he reigned 2 times. Once because his father was sick. I can't comfirm this. I haven't prayed or fasted on this. When you use the word “maybe” that means you’re accepting assumptions to prove there is no contradiction.
The fact is there are contradictions everywhere, but christians refuse to admit it. To prove there are no contradictions, you have no option but to make up stories that are not in the Bible.

He was 22 years old but his family had 42 years as a whole. Counting his father reign.
But doesn't 2 Chron 22:1 say that Ahaziah's father was Jehoram? I personally think that the 42 is by a different calendar; he was the last King reigning in the line of Omri (house of Ahab). He began reigning 42 years after Omri began to reign. He was 22 by age, 42 as the last reigning member of the house of Ahab/Omri. that's the only way I can get it to work
A step father, a father by marriage, is still called a father. California has lots of them.
I've heard of that solution too. The only problem I have with it is that it solves the apparent error in the text by claiming the other part of the text is in error. So, when it says Ahaziah was 42 years old when he began to reign, Bible correctors usually say the number "42" is an error and it should instead be 22; this apparent solution says that the number 42 is not an error, it is correct but that the name "Ahaziah" is in error as it should instead be "the house of Omri"
In my eyes this solution is no better than other bible-corrector's solutions. Just say something in the text is wrong.

In my humble opinion I believe the Bible answers this quandary in James 3:16
"For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work."
With all the envying and strife the scribes of the day must have gotten confused on how old king Ahaziah was when he began to reign. Because both passages of scripture are so simular except for the kings age it must have been the scribes of those evil days who were so confused.

I believe that there was a coregency between Jehoram and his son Ahaziah
Examples of coregency

In the fifth year of King Joram of Israel, Jehotam reigned at the age of 32, 8 years
This means that when King Jehoram died, the period of Joram's rule over Israel was 13 years
King Ahaziah reigned over Judah when Joram ruled Israel for 12 years
This means that Ahaziah ruled jointly with his father Jehoram one year before his father died of illness
He was 22 years old at that time, and he ruled the first time
The band of men that came with the Arabians had slain all the elders this means that a long time passed, until all the elders died, and a new generation appeared
This generation elected Ahaziah king for the second time at the age of 42

Ahaziah ruled twice, not once. The second time, his age was older than the entire lifespan of his father, who had been dead for decades due to his illness.

What is interesting to me is the possibility that Jehorams son Jehoahaz very well could have been taken to Israel and made Jehu's heir. If this is the case, then during at least a portion of the ~54 years when the seed of David was not ruling In Judah, his heir was ruling over Israel instead.

2Kings 8, "begin to reign" & "began to reign" & "and he reigned" all three of these statments come from the single Hebrew word "Malak". Now Malak, depending on the context of the verse could either mean H4427 (Mickelson's Enhanced Strong's Dictionaries of the Greek and Hebrew Testaments)
H4427 מָלַךְ malak (maw-lak') v.
1. to reign.
2. (inceptively) to ascend the throne.
3. (causatively) to induct into royalty.
4. (hence, by implication) to take counsel.
Thus at age 22 Ahaziah began to "take counsel" and NOT when he began to reign. There is no "copiest error" as many suggest. Peace:)

Hi Brother David, where did you get that ESV Catholic Edition (as shown at very near end of this clip)? I searched and found only TWO sources - Joyofgifting and ATC Books in India. The ISBN is 9789386516329. But it's impossible to order due to their payment system unless I live in India! I collect Alexandrian bibles for research purposes like you do yet I only read KJV. And btw your video was very interesting about Ahaziah!

Why would it be so terrible that an error in a translation might occur?
It would give people an excuse to reject other portions of the Bible based on the presumed errors they may also contain.
@@isaacdrake yeh, I get that, but none of the “errors” even come close to imputing any tenants of the faith. Most are merely transcription errors that are easily identified through textual criticism. I believe the original texts were perfect, but to say some insignificant error could never make it into someone’s version of the Bible seems a little disingenuous, and maybe bordering on the delusion of human perfectionism.
Than how is Athaliah mother of Ahaziah if her brother’s name is also Ahaziah?, as it states in both scriptures she is a mother to both Ahaziah’s.
2 Kings 11:1 And when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the seed royal.
So, how is Genesis 49:10 explained? It says "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be." If "all the seed royal" of Judah was killed, it would seem that for a time the scepter indeed departed from Judah for some years.
This is a complicated subject. I haven't resolved it in my mind but am thinking there may have been three different Ahaziahs; one for Israel and two for Judah.
There has not been a king of Judah for thousands of years now. The sceptre represents a right to rule. It does not mean that a king should always be on the throne. A king was not on a throne until hundreds of years after Genesis 49:10 was written. Jer. 33:14-17. The context of this passage is the millennial Kingdom of Jesus Christ..

This conundrum is one of many apparent contradictions atheists and agnostics, particularly ex christian, chuck out. The dating and records of the ancient near east is a difficult one for the reasons David outlines.

All of these statements are true. If you Isolate these statements and try to make them one event there would be an apparent contradiction. We often assume politics is a neat transition when we look back at history and the further we are removed from it. The bible illustrated political confusion at the time Solomon was anointed the King.

Thats talking about Absalom's age. In that verse. Cause obviously when you match the time frames in Chapter 14 with that verse in 15:7 they don't match...right? So..its talking about Absalom's AGE! After 40 years, Absalom had to be at least in his forties(AT LEAST) cause as it is written, if you balance the time frames they dont line up. It IS a reference unto Absalom's age friend.😀

After 40 years from what? That is the question you need to ask. It doesn't tell you. The burden of proof is on the person accusing it of being a contradiction or problem.
It's 40 years after David killed Goliath. Notice that the context is absolutely when he steals the hearts the children of Israel. So 40 years after David won the hearts the children of Israel his son does

I saw one the other day that for me was a little on the 'Harry Potterish' side and it was an NIV called "Incredible Creatures and Creations.
It's hard to find good a good children's Bible and just wanted your thoughts and recommendations for us parents with wittle one's.
Might I ask the purpose in seeking a Children's Bible? My 6 and 7 year Olds have been reading their way through the KJV for awhile now. They don't understand it all, but as this video proves, neither do most people. God reveals to us what we can take. The key is just to keep reading. I think trying to flash the Bible up for children is dangerous. They need to learn to love the Good Old Bood from a young age.

I’ve been studying the Divided Kingdom Chronology in depth for several years now. Know that in this area of study, there are a lot of very poorly researched theories floating out there. Three cheers for the answer to this discrepancy that says Ahaziah was both 22 and 42 years old when he started ruling. It sounds crazy, but sometimes details may appear to be contradictory, but in reality, they’re both describing the same thing accurately from different perspectives. This is consistent all throughout the books of Kings and Chronicles which provide dates reckoned from different starting points.
David- if you want a challenge, try to explain why King Ahaz was about 11 years old when Hezekiah was born (I would argue when the chronology is properly calibrated, alleged problems like these disappear)!
And if you want to laugh, read Christine Tetley’s “The Reconstructed Chronology of the Divided Kingdom”. Then cry when you realize she was awarded a doctoral degree for that work!

I'm not familiar with the passage you are referring to, but what you proposed is not an impossibility. In fact there are very recent examples.

@@rattlesssit was explained on the video, that Jehoram was 19 when he travelled with his dad, Jehosaphath, and his foster son, Ahaziah, son of Athaliah, daughter of Ahab, was 22 and thus become the proxy of Judah kingdom. Athaliah was whoring with unknown/ unname male before she married jehoram (political marriage) when she was 16, And that explains why ahaziah was 2 years older than jehoram, his foster dad.
Also- and this is slightly off topic, but I would encourage people to read 1 Samuel 13:1 and compare it with multiple translations. I think the KJV accurately preserves the meaning. Most scholars will say Saul ruled for 40 years, but I don’t think this is true. Compare this with the Ark of the Covenant’s chronology being moved to Kirjath-Jearim and later to Jerusalem by David (1 Sam 7:2; 2 Sam 6:3-12). Could Saul have been 40 years old when he became king (as opposed to ruling for 40 years)? I’m not an expert in the Greek (Acts 13:21) but I think a case can be made that the 40 years is in reference to his age. If I’m right, then I think the KJV’s translation is the most superior available.
As for your theory about Ahaziah and his mother, I can’t remember exactly, but I think it sounds very similar to that which was brought up by Floyd Jones.

Wow, it takes a lot of faith to be able to question Gods word. But as you said, God pushes us to go on exploring, and with time he reveals treasures (i've had some great findings too).

I'm back. Busy evening... In Luke the word "son" is not there, i mean it's not in the greek ! It's just a list of nouns (sorry for the KJV -- KJV is the best anyway ;-))
As I said, it's not even a genealogy, (contrary to Matt 1:1) luke doesn't define itself as one.
It's a sort of genealogy but not a genealogy of the flesh, it's a genealogy of the spirit. It makes completely sens as it follows Jesus baptism, just 2 verses earlier !
This explains why King Salomon is not in the list.
And also a difference with the genealogies in Genesis. Arpakshad begot Shélah in the book of Genesis but in Luke the spirit went to Kaïnam first. I guess Shélah turned to God later on, or maybe he just was too young.
Joseph (Mary's hudband) didnt' get the spirit from his natural father but from another spiritual father. And i guess he (Joseph) must have died at the start of Jesus's ministery as no there in no mention of him elsewhere in the NT.

Even if it was Marys genealogy it would still contradict the genealogies of the OT.

42? Ahaziah died at 22. There are two Ahaziahs. Their deaths are recorded different. The 22 year old was wounded in his chariot and died in Megiddo from Jehu's men. The 42 year old was captured and brought to Jehu and killed infront of him. These are not the same men.
Both passages are referring to the same Ahaziah even though there is another Ahaziah. 2 Kings 8:25, 26 and 2 Chronicles 22:1, 2 both say "...Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah..."
@@isaacdrake No they aren't. The 22 year old died in Megiddo the 42 year old died in Samaria these are not the same men. One was buried in the City of David the other was not. Athaliah has more than one son. One ruled in the 11th year one in the 12th year. Both are counted as his son. Is Jesus the biological son of David? No. Joseph is called Heli son how and he married his daughter?? Son in the bible is used very different.
Athaliah was more evil than Jezebel.

If the KJV is perfect then why was the Apocrypha REMOVED from it? Was it not perfect yet? Or is it now imperfect due to their removal? I am a KJV reader, but I find it hard to call anything perfect once a human has touched it.
Greetings Starwars... On another point, the apocrypha was NEVER part of the King James Scriptures. At the end of Malachi was written "the end of the Old Testament" and at the beginning for Matthew was written "the beginning of the New Testament."
