the reason you find it difficult to knit the stitch from the front leg is because your stitch is set on the needle with the leading leg on the back. that is why is easier for you to knit from the back loop because your stitch is has the leading leg on the back. when you knitted the front loop you have in fact twisted the stitch. basic knitting 101 :)
