I learned of Swollen Members back in 2000 when Much Music was part of a basic cable package in the States. The first time I heard Lady Venom I knew this group was fire. Honestly, I fell off as I don't follow modern music anymore... I'm stuck collecting classics in varying genres whenever I travel. I got Mad's Dope Sick album back in '12 and need to follow up on what they're putting out now. I don't want to say they're underrated, nor that they don't get enough recognition, but fuck it, I bump their catalog hard and they're one of the few acts I'd likely go out of my way to catch live. All the respect and gain they've received, they more than deserve.
Ok, so I learned about SwollenMembers and Mad Child from his battle on KOTD against Daylyte. Past few days listened to a lot of his (their) songs and it's a shame more people in America don't know about this group as they are solid. I'm glad I came across this group and they will be on heavy rotation on my playlist.
I have loved Rap since the early 90's. Swollen has brought me back to the days of the greats when you could actually gain knowledge from the verses. I am a big fan guys. Thank you.
Prevail and Aesop Rock are two of the most literate, articulate rappers out there, their choice of words and themes mean they go deeper than most are willing to. So glad these guys are back from the woods
Just the way this album is lined up is brilliant. The beautiful is The Difference right in the middle of the set-list. And it's surrounded by a death machine of dark songs. Speaks for how the group is at heart. Mad, Prev, and Rob really know how to do it.
