In times of conflict, safety margins are changed. That explains at least some part of the increase in frequency of crashes.

yes its interesting . i was just looking at all the planes you showed pictures of the wings are so thin so where do they store all that fuel ?

I think that the primary reason is that the planes performance is actually beyond the technology they are using to fly them. Thats just personal speculation

That doesn't explain why most of the planes which crashed operate/operated successfully for some time, both individually and as a type.

@@hb1338 yes. Just speculation about the difference between its supposed technical capacity and its actual

Hi Aan, either that or Russian aircraft factory workers are dyslexic!

      Hi Jody,
In my day we worked it out as we went along.😉
Have a good day and all the very best.

You should also ask why so many f 35 failures this year alone, 2 fell off of aircraft carriers, 1 crashed after takeoff, and 1 had the nose gear collapse while on taxi, 100 million dollar carrier fighters should not fall off carriers. 🤷‍♂️🤣

    • @hb1338

There have been four F35 crashes made public during 2022. All have occurred during landing - one was on an American carrier and the others were on land.
Landing aircraft on moving ships is difficult and dangerous - things sometimes go wrong. In the military world, much greater risks are accepted than in the civilian world.

Inexperienced aircrew, poor maintenance and inferior equipment.

It.s not the planes fault poorly trained pilots and the personnel who maintain them

The Russians actually fly over terrain where the opponent can fight back. we are used to fighting goat herders, where our sortes can go like a scheduled flight, hats off to the Russians fighting a difficult fight and yes they planes are lot less reliable when they are shot at, even if they seem to get away undamaged, microfractures will be in most the planes flying over Ukraine. Our planes wouldn't last any longer in such conditions, This is why they use drones and misles the age of the fighter jet is coming to an end.

There are very few Russian aircraft operating over Ukraine. During the first week of the war, the Ukraine air force, crippled by the destruction of many of its' airfields, nevertheless inflicted surprisingly high levels of damage on the |Russian air force. The Russians retreated and now operate almost entirely in stand-off mode, with their planes at least fifty miles from the Ukraine border.

@@hb1338 damage to Russian aircraft have little to do with an opposing air force, and Russia would be well aware of Ukraine air defences, as they designed them. the s300 system is far more capable and sophisticated than any western system, it dates back to the 70s and 80s , Russia now uses systems two generations ahead, but operating in this environment is more challenging than any environment the collective west has ever operated in. The future of military aircraft is quite boring, they will not fly near conflict zones, and they will need to use analogue systems, that can not be hacked. there is a reason why the US uses B52s and Russia uses TU 95s , all these aircraft have to do, is bring Ordnance reasonably close to the conflict zone, which is all any aircraft will be capable of, if encountering a modern sophisticated anti aircraft system.
