Federal Signal 2001-130 (DC) | Attack Signal | Brecksville, OH | 9-9-17

Today I decided to go to the relatively newer 2001-130 in Brecksville that replaced their old Whelen WPS-2809 which was broken shortly before replacement in late May-early June of 2016. It is the newest siren in their system, and it still looks quite new even after a year and a half of service! Just like the 2001-130 in Brecksville, it is not serviced by an AC connection, rather a solar panel keeps the batteries charged to guarantee enough power. However, just because they're not running on AC doesn't mean they aren't any less sluggish. This particular unit nearly maxed out the mic on my camcorder when the siren head was pointed towards me as it reverberated off the Lubrizol plant which is directly behind a fence from where I was set up. Unfortunately distance-wise, this doesn't even come close to overpowering the Whelen even though that unit had tons of blown drivers, as I can only hear this siren faintly from several miles away, but it sure does a great job anyways! Brecksville’s 4 sirens, two ASC T-128’s (one of which directly replaced a Whelen WS-2016 and has it’s controls retrofitted into the old ESC-864 cabinet for the old siren; the other was put in for extra coverage) were installed in July 2005, and their other 2001-130 at Brecksville Cemetery was installed in 2013 or 2014 and also directly replaced a Whelen WS-2016. Like this newer 2001 (which is their newest siren), their older 2001-130 is solar powered DC operation only as well. Their 4 sirens including this one are tested every Saturday at Noon, from the months of March through October. Tests do not depend on weather conditions.

Reminds me of Miltons video of the 130 in south Fife WA, it was a year older than that 130, to bad it got replaced with an 8032-B in 2020 along with the 6 other 2001s (3 other 130s & 3 SRNBs)

a whelen over powered this brute? man, this was the bane of my ears when i was going to jay sheidler they had one just about 400 feet away from us and they tested during recess

Windshield Baller Oh well. I don't know where I'm gonna go next week; probably try the Brecksville Cemetery one or the RHS 2001. Not quite sure yet.
