You're supposed to be checking per cell not total voltage. You're already using a lipo checker. Switch it to show each cell. Storage voltage ranges 3.8 to 3.9 per cell. You'd be shocked to see how many lipos will have one dead cell still show a decent total voltage.
LiPo batteries are one of those things where if you're careful and do things correctly you'll probably never have a problem. But if you're negligent, the consequences can be catastrophic.
@@RCREVEALEDyep any time man also in a few weeks after I get over this cold I’m gonna show the track to I’ll get some running footage when I get my mini beast pro can’t wait.
I’ve made the same mistakes lost $ with dead batteries. Glad you took the time to make this video to remind me. Also the fire proof cabinet great idea😎👍✌️
I only charge my batteries at 1C and put them on the charger to storage charge (3.85V per cell) right when I get back to my house. I also try to not discharge them below 3.5V per cell and never below 3.3V per cell. If you get a good quality charger, good batteries and take care of them, they can last you a long time. I have some lipos that are 5 - 6 years old that are still in good condition.
New unused batteries from the factory though right at storage voltage. Same as new batteries come in boxes with a little foam around them. It kinda threw me off too. I guess the issues come from used batteries with potential unseen damages 🤷♂️
I do the ammo can method. I just traded into a Spectrum G2 charger and batteries, one you tested dean was gen 1. The new ones is where I think it is at. No balance lead and auto discharge.

Yea when I commented that last comment to you gotta make sure you also don’t drain your battery’s to low or there not gonna be able to get any charge to them mine have been sitting in my Rc bag and I feel bad but can’t do much till you get a trickle charger.
@@RCREVEALED Sometimes you can recover Li-Po batteries with no voltage by charging them in Ni-MH mode at .5 wats for 5 min. Then charge them normally in Li-Po balance charge mode. You may have to cycle the battery pack a couple times to bring it back to life. I've been able to recover many Li-Po packs this way but it sometimes won't work if the battery pack is too far gone. Worth a try though.
@RCREVEALED just plug them into a charger on the nihm setting.. on like 1 or 1.5 amps.. for a bout 3 minutes.. and then keep doing that til it reads on a lipo checker or charger.. then let the charger balance out the cells.. doesn't always work.. but it does a lot of the time.. 😎🤙🏽.. I remember we talked about storage charging in the comments on another one of your videos.. lol.. now look .. hahahaha.. great video man.. live and learn.
I have a 3 foot tall fire Safe rated for hazardous materials. 300 bucks is not expensive in any way compared to damage it can cause or harm it can do to someone. Just buy one less RC car. I only use Spektrum which will auto store after X hours. If you don’t properly store the battery at the proper store voltage (around 3.85-3.9 v/cell) it won’t last as long and can cause damage.
Puffy batteries should be drained and tossed. Unless you want your whole RC shop to burn. The puff allows them to be more easily punctured and the cells are now unstable and can easily explode when charging or using them in a car.
I left a 6s Lipo plugged in it now read 7.47 volts is there any saving it by charging nimh? I’d take it outside not sure how long to leave it on or what to try it was 150 bucks so I’d like to save it

Here is what gets me ... every single Hobby Shop stores them on the shelf. Not on ammo cans ... not in lipo bags .... no fire proofing.
