Guntown Mountain | Kentucky Life | KET

Kentucky's Guntown Mountain offers family entertainment in its version of an Old West town.
Here you can find everything from the sheriff's office and jail to a funeral parlor complete with pine boxes. It's all about fun here, and actors, singers and dancers offer several shows throughout the day-country-western music performances, an old-time medicine show with magic tricks, and a can-can show in the saloon.
The highlight of any day would be the live gunfights performed on the street-loosely based upon actual fights from the past.
Guntown Mountain is said to be the highest point in the Mammoth Cave area, and you can reach the top via shuttle bus or chair lift- one of the few such lifts in the commonwealth.

i''m now 52 and remember this place as one of my fond moments as a child, thank you all for the wonderful memories. what a nice place to be. Too bad that we live in a world that has robbed us all of such places as this.

Wonderful place !
We went there often, taking our sons, in the 70's, 80's & 90's, sometimes a friend with them.
I still have music cassettes of the Guntown Mt. singers/ music show. Very talented people.

Guntown Mountain - now there's a place I remember seeing in the summer of 1975. Got several slide film shots of it that were taken on a Kodak "Instamatic" X-15 with 126 cartridge film. (Still have that camera that I bought in 1972 ? I think)

Its a real shame that Guntown mountain is no more...now the new owner has let it get run down and changed the name to Funtown Mountain.

SAF4EVER now he lost it too he was selling drugs no wonder it was changed to fun town mountain. Borrowed money against it and lost it. I went there after it was shut down I go to cave city quiet offtion I don't live very far of course I'm from a county over. Anyway everything is like left there the carts the chair lifts are left hanging on the mountain it's like it stuck in time. They blocked the rd going up the mountain
