    Before you even finished the second sentence, 2 hikers popped in my mind! 😂
    You hit the nail on the head with dogs... People have GOT to CONTAIN their dogs! I watched a German Shepherd attack a medium sized dog that literally gave up on life the second it was grabbed in Grayson Highlands. It was horrible. Neither dog was leashed at the time of attack. Great video! 😃💚👊

      Thanks. I made a statement, “get control of your pets” but cut it out because I didn’t want to sound like a jerk. I’m sorry you were able to put faces and names to that description. Was it me? It’s me isn’t it? It’s me. 😂🦑

    First off... we LOVE Sea-N-Suds! Andy Andrews introduced us to the place, through his books. We try to eat there on every trip. Have you ever read any of Andy's books? Pretty good stuff and they are set along the Alabama Gulf Coast.
    Second...I LOATH flibbin' bluetooth speakers in nature. I literally have had to fight the urge to bash them. One instance, we were kayaking and a dude had a HUGE one strapped to the back of his kayak. We could literally hear it, VERY well, from over two miles away. Another time, a guy had one strapped to the handlebars of his bike on the Virginia Creeper. And he just kept riding right with us. We would stop, he would stop. We would ride, he would get right behind us and refuse to go on...even when we stopped mid-trail and told him to go on. Finally we stopped at a little trail store in Green Cove and were just determined to make him go on. We were going to stay there all day, if we had to. He finally went on. Thankfully.

      The speakers are annoying but these two examples are precisely why I’m so against them. Like I said, if it’s in camp with a small group of friends and played at a low volume, it’s fine but when it becomes a problem for other hikers and wildlife …
      Every time we are at the Alabama gulf coast, we make a pilgrimage to Sea and Suds!!

    Great tips. With LNT, I teach my grandson “try to make the trail better than it was before we got there.” ie: even the smallest pieces of trash that belonged to someone else, gets picked up and packed out. We call it stewardship. 👍🏼

    I only break about 7 of those 9. I'd say that's pretty good. Tip 10: If a buddy springs a leak in his sleeping pad and you have 2. Let your buddy borrow your spare. (CLEARS THROAT) Crow! 😂😂😂

    Great tips. One think I hate is when MTN bikers come flying up behind me and give me zero notice to have my dog sit. She’s almost always off leash and grew up hiking on bike trails so she is excellent off leash but I need a hot second d to recall her and gave her sit. She hasn’t mastered the distance sit although she understands the hand signals. Maybe I’ll work on that 😂

    • @GoneFeralWithSquidly
      @GoneFeralWithSquidly  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All the “share the road” signs make me laugh because mtn bikers don’t want to share the road, they want it for themselves and then act like hikers are a nuisance on “their” trails. 🦑

    Avoid me or steer clear of me? That would be ideal! I go hiking/camping to avoid others and either be by myself or with a close friend.
    Staying on marked trails... oh, you're not talking about bushwhacking. Bushwhacking is a very good way to avoid others.
    I yield to uphill and downhill hikers. I go at a turtle's pace, so it's not a big deal to let others go first.
    I too love dogs, but I would much rather have a controlled greeting with the animal than an uncontrolled one. I would prefer asking the owner's permission before trying to say hello to the pooch.
    Gotcha, no washing up at the water source. How about I go up stream to wash my feet and swampbutt?
    Whatta bout crop dusting fellow hikers as you pass each other? Is that frowned upon? LOL

    • @GoneFeralWithSquidly
      @GoneFeralWithSquidly  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Crop dusting!! 🤣😂
      Bushwhacking is a completely different experience for sure.
      I like to get all the way in the water to wash away the swampbutt upstream from my closest friends. It helps to improve the bonding. 😂🤣🦑

    I don't know where this noise thing came from but it's inane. You're hiking and going in a group; talk. It's not a pilgrimage where a vow of silence is required.
