- I know y'all been hearing about it for a while, but WHAT IS THE "GINA CURL"?
Seriously! What is it?
I want to talk to you about this CURL REFORMATION SYSTEM that many of my clients have been asking about and help break down what it is exactly and how it COMPARES to the TRADITIONAL JHERI CURL.
This video was fun to make (as you can see)! I enjoyed learning about some great inventors again annnnd I learned alot from researching these techniques.

I like your video because you did not put anyone down I've had Gina curl twice I've had Jerri curl I just don't think my hair takes very good to those kind of chemicals they broke my hair off and thinned it out even when I know I'm doing everything for my hair that the beautician told me to. So now I just do my own hair natural and that's the only way I know to keep it healthy. Great video though.👍🏾💯👏🏽 Thanks for sharing.

I decided to go back to a Wave Nouveau in December 2021 & love it. I am documenting my journey and can’t believe it is coming up on a year already❤ Just like many, I had a Jheri curl & Wave Nouveau in the 90’s. Thank you for discussing this topic.
You're so welcome! I'd love to see your progress. I had a curl when I was 7 and had it transitioned out when I moved out of state (cultural thing, LOL). I'm excited to see how people embrace these newer techniques!

I got a jheri curl 2 months ago for 35 dollars at a hair school.. My hair is long and very thick so I got it to make my hair more manageable
No matter how well it’s explained, there is no justification for a $950,00 price tag. She is just getting over on people.
It cost so much cause you only get a touch up 1nce or twice a year🤷🏾♀️
I paid $65 for my first wave nouveau curl this month. I had the jheri curl in the late 80s for free because both of my older sisters were in cosmetology school and I was their guinea pig.
My uncle gave me my cousin and I one when he got out of the Army. We were 7 and 8. I got mine blown out in 4th grade because I didn't fit it at my new school. Everyone thought it was a permanent wave ( all white school). They liked it, it just smelled like chemicals and it was too juicy. LOL

I use to get the wave Nuevo. That was my favorite rather then the Jerry curl

@karenjones9863 no my hair never shed or fell out. I also didn't use heavy products on my hair. I stayed with the Nuevo products at that time. I stopped when I moved and had this owner do one on my hair. She ruined my hair and at that time it did shed. My stylist before her was amazing on my hair. It was very healthy and full. Its never been the same since. So i stopped and went natural after.

Hi! I used Influance Honey Almond Foam, water and Mane Choice curl cream on these curls. Every other day, I rewet fully, comb through with a large detangling brush and either scrunch and air dry or two strand twist in large sections. Although this is from my hair extensions line, curly hair extensions still need proper care to stay pretty.

I feel as though the price for the Gina Curl is a gauge, that is an extreme price to pay for the remake of the Jerry Curl. If stylist begin to charge less they can price her out of that service force her to come down. Let’s be honest even if you charge someone $300 for 2 hours at the salon (and half that time you’re under the dry), is expensive but way more reasonable. Everybody wins.

What some people don't understand is that all curls are not jerri curls,the jerri curl was invented by jerri redding, I know this as a former shop owner and operator from the 80s, theres a lot of different name brand curls out there leisure curl, carefree curl, etc., these are brand names not jerri curls😊😊
This $950-1,500 price tag only allows these so called experts to asking for similar fees and half of them can’t do hair.
I remember you could put a perm over a jheri curl but you couldn't put a jheri curl over a perm...
I remember that because I had the jheri curl first... And then got a relaxer in the late 80s/early 90s.
That's right. Jheri curl is a perm. You can put a relaxer over a perm, not perm over relaxer. The breakdown of the hair follicle is different.

Your very pretty ,Gina just benefiting from white privilege , great marketer and she does deep conditioner before she does curly perm and she gone back to using hood dryer to set in the curl.

It's all about the length of hair and the type of curl you desire.
