THE TRAINING PROCESS OF A WEANLING HORSE | DAY #4 |
Amry you’re doing a phenomenal job with Kix! So proud of you and him and how far along he is. ❤Keep up the excellent job, and keep us posted! 🎉
Thank you so so much ❤️🙌
Amry....looking great...he sure shows a good mind and is muscled up for a youngster
WOW Amry, Kix is really coming along great 😃. He's such a sweet little guy. He seems to be very willing, and just wants to please you. Doesn't hurt that he's also gorgeous! You are such an amazing trainer Amry, your kind but stern, which in my opinion these youngsters need, and you always use soft hands 👐. ALL these colts you start, really respond to you well 🐴. Loved watching you work with him. Love and Blessings to you always ❤ 🙌 Jennifer
I am impressed with both of you! I never tire of watching you.
Thank you Karen ❤️
Amy, you’re in your element! Great vid! Oh boy, he’s gonna be a tough guy to sell! 😜 😉
Kix is learning & growing fast!!! You’re doing a fabulous job as always!! 1 more to go till I’m all caught up!! Woohoo!!! 🥳
Glad you are enjoying KIXS journey ☺️🙌🥰
It's fun watching you do what you love.He is beautiful colt and quick learner🙂
I have enjoyed watching kicks66 since he was born. You have made a huge difference already in him. Nice work
Thank you Terri!
I like you to learn and talk to yourself. You continually talk to yourself. I LOVE IT!
You are doing awesome with Kix! He seems to learn fast and he retains what he learns. Love to watch you train! Keep on!
Great Amry and Kicks....really great.
You are doing great with him . He is making it easy for you lol ! 🙂
Big steps already! A pleasure to watch along .
Hi again AMRY
Good job to you too! You both had a really good session making progress beyond. Helps to have a smart and sensible colt too and a patient skilled trainer full of TLC. Always enjoy watching you and your gifts in action Amry.
A success in the making so thx for sharing and taking everyone along. He's licking his lips and you're smiling yay!
Catcha next time...
Thank you CC!! You notice all the small but important details 🥰🙌
Beautiful Job.
If I was younger this guy would be mine ♥️ been following this colt since birth @ Farm 66 ❤️ him !!! Amry you're doing a great job with him !
Thank you for following our journey ☺️🙌🥰
You’re amazing!!!!
He's going to be a hard one to sell after you're done. Smart, sweet, and beautiful! Love watching you!
He is doing fantastic giving his age as well as just learning. Can’t wait to see the end results. Tfs ❤
You are doing great with Kix! He’s such a good looking colt!
I got kix mixed up with the horse Trista is training. I love your gentle, common sense suggestive training, and the hugs and scratches you give to assure them they can trust you.
Alan's stallion if Gold 66 (palomino) he is three I believe and he is with Trista. His other stallion Kix66 if on lease to Martins Quarter Horse in Bayfield CO he is a roan. He will be at Martin's for some time. Gold 66 will be going back to Alan's place in a week or so. This baby also a roan is from a recent breeding, not sure if the stud was Kix66 or Gold 66.
So awesome to watch you work on them colts and fillys
You Amy are so GREAT with what you do. You are blessed with a gift. Wish I could watch you all day with this colt.
You are so kind!! ❤️
Kix has such a good mind, and seems so willing. I'm happy to hear how open-minded you are, Amry. I just know your work with all of these colts will produce some real winners. 🐎
Great start on this handsome colt! It’s fun to watch him learn. Good job Amry.
Look at who's trying to bite you!!
Colts
Flies
Cats
😂
Poor Amry!!
Good job with kiix . Who ever gets him s sure going to get a nice horse! His mother is lex.
Great patience. Kicks did well.😉✌️♥️
You are doing a wonderful job with Kix!
You doing a good job with him
Your contact with the colt is amazing, and his breeding is showing how intelligent he is and he seems to be eager to please!
Great job enjoy you training videos❤
Wow, you two seem to have a great bond and he's really listening and learning. I wish you could keep him ... is it too soon to tell what he'll be really good at? 💌
Thank you Marcia! I think Kixs could go any direction - he has the athletic ability to make a performance horse. I'm biased so I would love to see him in the roping or barrel pen 🥰 ... OHH maybe mounted shooting too!
I could see the two of you on that obstacle course someday!@@cnahorses
Loved watching you work with Kicks66 today. He is so smart and eager to please for his scratches and lovin. He is such a gorgeous looking colt!! With your excellent training and his blood lines, he is going to make a great horse for someone someday :) Looking forward to his continuing progress. And your other colts as well! Enjoyed Amry :) TY ❤
❤
He is so pretty and sweet with youu
Yes. Enjoyed it immensely. You mentioned that it drives you nuts to have people not tie a halter. Why don't you do a tutorial? I don't know how to do it.
Good advice! I will show rope halter tying in a future video ☺️
❤🎉 Excellent sessions, fun to watch. I wondered about the cow hocked too and thought maybe as they gain strength it would correct. You mentioned it's not uncommon for cow bred horses. Is that because they are quick on their hind quarters darting after cows and changing directions and such?
Thanks for your videos. 🐎⭐💐🤠❤️
I love these questions - It is a bit hard for me to explain through text so I will explain why in the next video 🥰🙌☺️
Hi
He's a smarty for sure, AND a looker. You're gonna hafta get him some of those H U G E sunshades cause his future is sho nuff bright. 🙂 Excellent work Ms AP ...this is gonna be good.
Hey hey hey I like that!!! HUGE sunglass order placed 🙌☺️ thank you as always Richard!
Have you used the finger pressure method to move the forequarters before the stick method? It might be just a touch easier for him to catch on.
I haven't tried that method. Thank you for this tip - I will try that out!
KIXS really seems to like you. On the backup motions of the horse what command do you use to tell the horse to backup? Are you just teaching them the motions first?
I use a few different commands, I can show the differences between them in a future video - the basic concept I want Kixs to learn is that when pressure is put in front of him he moves back away from it. The pressure could just be a stick being waved or his lead rope being waved. The back up is really good for me to get Kixs to respect personal space and move out of it when asked ☺️
God dam, he's shooting up and looking leggy, could be a barrels prospect?
That's what I am thinking too! And he's got the moves 🙌☺️
Hi Amry. I found your channel when you bought a horse from Jerry Winn. I've been binge watching your videos since. Fascinating. I would like to ask about the crouching posture you often assume when asking for a response. Why do you crouch?
Hi! Thank you for coming over to my channel! My crouching is me changing my body language. I am trying to give my horses clear communication of what I am asking and I can do that through body language. Horses don't speak English to each other but they do speak body language. Watch horses in the pasture or in the wild and when they want another horse to move out of their space they pin their ears and lower their neck. Changing my body position from passive (crouching) to relaxed (upright) shows the horse clearly what I am asking ☺️
@@cnahorses Interesting. You are the only trainer that I have seen use that technique.
Also what is thecounting meant for?
Best thing to keep for timing to take it to the next level of the necessary step.
Where’s Milo?
What happened to I haven't seen you in a couple mon youtube
I am working on a weanling now. not bred by me, he is still pretty wild and is very hesitant when i approach him. he always comes to appoach me but the minute i reach out for him he gets scared and moves off. we think the guy that bred him thought he was "in his space" and whacked him. How do i help him overcome that fear of being approached, he is really good with everything else. been doing this for 40 years. never had this at this age
Hi Amanda! Practice and repetition make perfection! Some horses are more flighty and hesitant than others. Just keep practicing approaching your colt. Start slow and build up speed. Every time you approach him give him some good rubbings and he’ll start liking you coming into his space 😊 once he’s ready maybe my Crazy Dance method would help - th-cam.com/video/jqD2oPShqGI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BG002gQwaOlkdYFF
Crazy Dance is basically a approach and retreat method of desensitizing your horse to yourself.
@@cnahorses thanks. This almost feels like a sight issue. But I will keep doing what I have been and hope for the best!
How long do you plan to work with them (I.e. the new colts) till they go to auction?
Besides Kixs (who just recently sold) the other colts will be with us from 4-6 years … maybe longer 😊 we like to keep them around and put all the special buttons on them!
Why are you crouching down like youre stalking him when you ask him to yeild?
I crouch so that Kixs can see my body language change - when I crouch and start putting pressure on him that is his cue to move. When I stand up and have passive body language that is his cue to be still.
This guy seems like he is going to be fairly tall, guess we shall see.
Pretty tall for a young guy - will be interesting to see how tall he matures to be ☺️☺️
