Btw don't get me wrong. I purely meant this as a joke. I actually still enjoy that scene (well perhaps aside from the unnecessary twirl Obi Wan does). That sort of scene shouldn't be too flashy otherwise it may have distracted from the tension and emotional effect of Obi Wan and Vader facing off again after so long.
I agree with idlovetoclimbthat, the scene definitely feels like Vader is basically toying with Obi Wan who has grown old and is unable to challenge him anymore. So the way Lucas did it works for several reasons.

Honestly, I viewed it that way even as a kid in the early 80's because the fights in Empire and Jedi were much better.
I felt more attached to Jyn in one movie than I did with Rey in three.

Have you watched a movie with Darth Vader in it, Strokerman01? The dude drops quips like that like running water, and those types of mannerisms are what made him iconic.
Oh I didn't say it was the only thing. Just among the types of mannerisms. Not just his look but his badass attitude made him one of the biggest bad guys of the century. Shoot, Skeletor would have pissed himself if he met Darth Vader. Dude can stop laser blasts with his hand like "bitch please" and then take your weapons away.

Khmer Rouge is the french name for the Red Khmer from Cambodia (a former french protectorate btw), "famous" for a very bad genocide in the 1970s.

I absolutely love Rogue One. I thought it was a brilliant mix of war story, adventure, and very sparing, well-timed humour.

For all it's flaws, the cinematography in this film is amazing and probably the best of any of the franchise. I wish they released a longer cut with the scenes from the trailer though :(
Agreed! I was actually surprised to find out that the guy who directed Rogue One was the same guy that directed Monsters. Say what you will, but Monsters was a great film, and the guy knows his cinematography! (that said, his filmography is apparently quite short, which is interesting).
@@georgeoldsterd8994 It's Gareth edward, he directed Monsters, Godzilla and rogue one. I believe he was originally a VFX artist. Rogue one is his last movie to date but his three movies have amazing cinematography.

Or it is a torture device - if you are hit somewhere, then it makes you feel pain like thrown into hot sulfuric acid - and maybe it even injects some poison into your body? Maybe that is the motivation for troopers to be a good soldier - because after being promoted, you can get rid of it and wear the uniform of the officers...
It's probably just a reinforced uniform, because like you said, that stuff does nothing but keep the dirt off your back.

Hey guy sequel trilogy is garbage and rogue one is the only movie in disneys era that was great. Did not see Solo since i heard it bomb in theatres and i was not interested in seeing Han Solos background. Too bad that disney did not let George Lucas make one more star wars movie and say the end with star wars. George Lucas is star wars and disney knows nothing of making good movies that people can enjoy.

I don't want to be Douchey McNitpick but Stormtroopers being inept is a staple of Star Wars, you can't just teach them how to aim suddenly. Then there'd be no movie
the stormtrooper ranks got consistently worse as the empire got older, because more clones from the era of the republic died, and the clones were much better stormtroopers than regular humans. So, technically, the closer you get to the beginning of the empire, the better the stormtroopers overall should perform.

After rewatching all the Star Wars movies many times, this is actually the best one. I have all my childhood memories wrapped up in the first 3, but this is the best film. Maybe Empire is 1 and this is 2, but it is close.

It seems like there's a lot of different reactions to this movie. To be honest, I had a lot of fun watching it, and isn't that why we watch Star Wars in the first place? I also ended up liking the characters more than I thought I would, especially as they've started to fill in their backstories with books.

Although, I actually didn't care for the Last Jedi too much, so I'd probably join them.
You can have supplementary material to a film, but it shoulder _never_ be a requirement in order to make the film decent/good (or be required to understand it).
The Stars Wars media I personally liked -- the old EU books, comics and games -- I'd think about them from time to time, about how much I enjoyed it and eventually want to go back and experience them again. Why? Cause they had memorable characters, stories and ideas; they were well written; and they certainly weren't just glorified adverts for the new films (like a lot of the new canon stuff seems to be, unfortunately). In short, the content could stand on its own two feet, and didn't rely too heavily on nostalgia.
Rogue One? Saw it once, most likely won't watch it again. I liked this movie when I saw it, but I didn't remember anyone's name at the time, or after (except Jyn, and only because she was the main character). In my opinion it's boring and really forgettable. If Star Wars wasn't attached to it, I don't think anyone would give this movie a chance.

I got goosebumps on the hallway scene when I first saw it. The glow of red light saber, absolutely terrifying.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. I really don't understand the complaint "we didn't need it!". So? We didn't need the original star wars either. It's a film, no films are necessary. This one was simply made for entertainment. And it worked in that regard, at least for me.

Rewatched this recently. Its just as good as I remembered. The tense dialogue in every scene was so gripping I held it long after i had to go thinking id just wait for the end of a good part that never came. Only good movie disney made, might be my favorite ever. Its that damn good

I have to agree. The first time I saw that scene in the movie theater was absolutely amazing. A moment before the lightsaber came on I somehow *knew*, and then when the scene happened I was honestly speechless the whole time

It is odd, I like some of his movies and dislike some others... and he has a distinct style.

Hubris M Snyder's Watchmen was great. The book will always be phenomenal, but Snyder managed to get it about as accurately as he could
Honestly, this just makes the characters more endearing, the plot more enjoyable and only serves to make me want to throw out the prequels and sequels, then rewatch this movie before going back to the original trilogy.

sivad parks without him there wouldn't even be a rogue one. Without Bodhi, the rebellion wouldn't have gotten the death star plans and they wouldn't have won in their fight against the empire. Without Bodhi the star wars continuity wouldn't be what it is. He is one of the most important characters in the SW universe.
