The Chinese version of "meteor garden" is the best in my opinion. The character development and chemistry between leads was amazing. I was literally crying the whole time while watching and couldn't get over the couple for months. People were obsessed over them dating in real life because their chemistry was so good.

I've seen 4 versions (Thai, Japanese, Korean & Chinese). They were all good, but the K drama and Meteor Garden are a tie for me. I love Dylan Wang. In the K drama, the 2nd male lead (Kim Hyun Joong) is my favorite of all the versions. The Korean version is, IMO, definitely worth watching.
Taiwan's Meteor Garden and its version of F4 literally started THE wave for most of Asia. The boygroup by Jerry Yan, Vaness, Vic & Ken were so loved. It was insane🫠
Meteor Garden Taiwan is the OG of all versions and it started the Asian drama wave. It open doors to Asian drama series to be aired and dubbed in majority of the countries all around the world.
I loved Meteor Garden far more than Boys over Flowers. I also quite liked the Thai version too. I think calling the Korean version of Little Women a ‘remake’ is a bit of a stretch, it bears little resemblance to the original and is more what you’d call a ‘re-imagining’. I’d love to watch the Korean Scarlet Hearts but I can’t get it at all in the UK 😞
Im still not over how 2010s popular drama were downright sexist and misogynist. BOF was the sickest every version even the thai one. Chinese version was still tolerable because of the cast chemistry and still bareable script

Ahhhhm HANA YORI DANGO (japanese version) has always a special place in my heart no matter how many remakes it will have from different country. Tsukasa Domyouji will always be my first love (charcter in a drama)like literally I cried for a whole month because it finally ended. Like everyday I was watching it in our local tv station (gma), it was dubbed in Filipino, I don't have internet access and personal computer that time, so my fangirling was waiting every afternoon to watch the show.. and when it ended I was so devastated. Like I can't move on to their characters. So I bought a dvd which the subtitles were sucked but still watched it anyway. And yeah, I remembered that I always write their names so I wouldn't forget them. *Reminiscing* Those were my teenager days.
Of all the BOF remakes, Hana Yori Dango is topnotch for me and the only version that I’ve rewatched that I lost count already. I just love everything about it. The acting and chemistry is beautiful for me. Makino’s character is not annoying and Tsukasa was portrayed perfectly. And also the other actors that played the F4, they have this balance and not too overacting. Not much kissing scenes too but the chemistry is overflowing. So yeah. That’s the drama for me. From season 1-2 even the movie at the end. MatsuJun and Mao Inoue, they were the power couple of jdrama.
I've actually never understood the hype around the korean adaptation of BOF, for me it's always been and always will be Hana Yori Dango! Maybe it's a generational thing lol? It was one of my first dramas ever along with Gokusen and I was hooked for years!

When I saw Little Women in the thumbnail I knew you were going to be reaching. First of all when the source material is as iconic as Little Women you are not a remake of another movie but another adaptation of the source material. And that being said calling the k-drama Little Women an adaptation of the original is in itself a reach. Other than the fact they are sisters there is really little else to relate it to the source material. The bad part is that the source material is good enough that a good melodrama could of been done without all the thrills. You telling me we have a story where a wealthy heir is friends with a group of sisters, who is in love with the oldest, while at the same time the youngest is in love with him. Then you throw in a new love interest for the oldest sister. You telling me that doesn't sound like a k-drama.

World of the Married was so amazing, every little detail was important and even the title at the beginning was an easter egg, the dresses the main caracter wore had meaning, the cast was phenomenal, a must watch
Personally, I love the original Brit series though. A lot of the details in the WOTM were the exact same copies of the scenes from Doctor Foster so if you've seen the original series, the adaptation kinda pales in comparison. I wouldn't say the same for the other dramas mentioned in this list though (Boys Over Flowers, Destined to Love You, Mr. Queen, Romance Is a Bonus Book, Wtich's Romance, etc.).

Fated to Love You is an all time favorite. I had to re-watch several episodes because I was crying so hard/loudly. Still can not watch it again, years later. Moon Lovers is fantastic. However I still haven't seen the last episode, becuase they broke my heart.

I didn’t know Mr. Queen is a remake. I definitely have to watch the OG. Much as I adore IU, Moon Lovers can’t hold a candle to Bu Bu Jing Xin. It’s really hard to adapt a story from a very distinct time period in China.

I prefer the original Little Women adaptation with Elizabeth Taylor. I would love to see a Korean take on Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. A dark tale indeed would be a good Korean remake.

Boys over flowers (Korea) was bad. Meteor Garden (Taiwan and China) were waaay better. The Taiwanese version is THE REASON why the Korean version was made. The F4 became hugely popular all over Asia and that's why they did the Korean version. Which is really bad. The only great thing about it was the cute guys. If you want to see the most hilarious version, watch the Japanese version. I had stitches from laughing so hard.

Although parts of some of the adaptations are quite questionable, it should be taken as a learning experience lol

The chinese version was filmed quite some time ago and had a very low budget compared to the korean remake. I still think it's worth watching just cause of how funny the show is but the korean version is definitely more polished.
Indeed the thai version of boys before flowers, the japanese version which is the first one to be launched, is the best so far aswell in the script with more sense aswell in the acting.
It's good. Obviously with the 10+ year difference between the original and the K version happening, it means the time shift goes back to the 80s instead of the 70s, and that works really well because they work it around the 88 Seoul Olympics. So they do a good job of making it relevant to Korea. There's even a lot of faithful crossover (they do a straight adaption episode of 'The Warren' - the classic original story, and clothing choices are a great nod). But man, they really, REALLY whiff the ending. Doesn't have anywhere near the same emotional punch - it's just a fundamental difference in storytelling and, for my money, it doesn't work anywhere near as well. YMMV, of course.

Kdrama Little Women is nothing like Little Women Novel or movie. It just has the same name. Even if it is inspired by the original Little Women it still does not have any similarity except that it is a story of sisters. That's all.
I preferred "My Queen" over "Witches Romance" though the lower budget can be seen in the debut episode. A big thing I liked being covered in the Taiwanese Drama vs. the Korean one was the father putting pressure on the son to commit being that she was older and may want kids. That was completely left off of the Korea one to its detrimit in my opinion.
IN My memory the remakes were of SK versions was "The Tunnel" (three different countries did it} and one I think twenty years back ,about this woman gets a boyfriend in the mail but he's a Android?? Original was Japanese and from a manga.

Romance is a bonus book might have been great - if the female lead had ever looked as if she liked the male lead. Even in the clips on this compilation you can see that he is all intense and she looks as if she's wondering if the ceiling needs a fresh coat of paint. South Korea's Tempted was also a good version of the classic Dangerous Liaisons which was also adapted by the movie Cruel Intentions.

Nothing beats Meteor Garden Taiwan version. That being said, I’m still hoping for Scarlet Heart S2.
Boys over flowers (Korea) was bad. Meteor Garden (Taiwan and China) were waaay better. The Taiwanese version is THE REASON why the Korean version was made. The F4 became hugely popular all over Asia and that's why they did the Korean version. Which is really bad. The only great thing about it was the cute guys. If you want to see the most hilarious version, watch the Japanese version. I had stitches from laughing so hard.
I never meet a person who watch any of “Boys over flowers” versions and says the Korean one was the best or the good idk about other but I mean i life with Meteor Garden and that show always remain the best

The only kdrama that actual good from being adapted of j-dorama i watched is 365: repeat the year. They pretty understand but the show is really the best

- Scarlet Heart over Moon Lovers, can't even compare. I did not finish ML. It 'might' be more popular to some bcoz of younger & KOREAN Stars
- Hana Yori Dango over BOF
- Fated to Love You TW over KR
I think Moon Lovers was more popular because of the eye candy cast and OST - it certainly was for me anyway 😂
But the original Chinese drama had a bigger impact and bring more emotion for me. Did you watch it?

The lead actress in Mr Queen was so good. She was playing a male character who's trapped in a woman's body lol so she had to pretend to be a boy who was acting like a girl..
Nah Hana Yori Dango is definitely the superior version, I couldn't even get past episode 1 of the Korean one.
1:05 Boys over flowers (generally, not referring to just the Korean version) is forever iconic, to the point that it should be a rule that all asian media watchers have to have at least watched one of the adaptations. Although parts of some of the adaptations are quite questionable, it should be taken as a learning experience lol

Taiwanese meteor garden was better. Esp choice of female lead. Shancai was a lot more convincing and likeable heroine.

No wonder why scarlet heart ryo was so painful and addictive to watch. With incredible plot twists and a sad open ending.. Chinese books are so great on doing that. Making you cry and beg for more even if it's hurt. Many movies and series are adapted from amazing books. I wish more people can give a try on Chinese dramas.

The chinese version was filmed quite some time ago and had a very low budget compared to the korean remake. I still think it's worth watching just cause of how funny the show is but the korean version is definitely more polished.
Actually, Meteor Garden is far better than Boys Over Flowers. I can always rewatch MG, but can not do the same for BOF.

Indeed the thai version of boys before flowers, the japanese version which is the first one to be launched, is the best so far aswell in the script with more sense aswell in the acting.
For me, BOF Korean version is on the bottom of my list if I had to rank all of the different versions. Thai version is the best one!

It's good. Obviously with the 10+ year difference between the original and the K version happening, it means the time shift goes back to the 80s instead of the 70s, and that works really well because they work it around the 88 Seoul Olympics. So they do a good job of making it relevant to Korea. There's even a lot of faithful crossover (they do a straight adaption episode of 'The Warren' - the classic original story, and clothing choices are a great nod). But man, they really, REALLY whiff the ending. Doesn't have anywhere near the same emotional punch - it's just a fundamental difference in storytelling and, for my money, it doesn't work anywhere near as well. YMMV, of course.

They didn't mention Playful kiss, which was way better than the Taiwanese version Miss n kiss. Nor did they mention criminal minds, which the korean version was excellent. They didn't mention Designated surv8vir, korean version was pretty damned good.
Wait you didn't like the original 2005 Taiwanese adaptation It Started with a Kiss? Ariel Lin and Joe Cheng chemistry was so popular that's why they got a second season.

Actually BOF would rate 3rd in my list of remakes for Hana Yori Dango - Meteor Garden (2018) and F4 Thailand (2021) are both better in my opinion

Kdrama Little Women is nothing like Little Women Novel or movie. It just has the same name.
Even if it is inspired by the original Little Women it still does not have any similarity except that it is a story of sisters. That's all.

I preferred "My Queen" over "Witches Romance" though the lower budget can be seen in the debut episode. A big thing I liked being covered in the Taiwanese Drama vs. the Korean one was the father putting pressure on the son to commit being that she was older and may want kids. That was completely left off of the Korea one to its detrimit in my opinion.
Liar Game is such an underrated show.
The korean remake is maybe more popular, but it's such a downgrade from the original one.

IN My memory the remakes were of SK versions was "The Tunnel" (three different countries did it} and one I think twenty years back ,about this woman gets a boyfriend in the mail but he's a Android?? Original was Japanese and from a manga.

Romance is a bonus book might have been great - if the female lead had ever looked as if she liked the male lead. Even in the clips on this compilation you can see that he is all intense and she looks as if she's wondering if the ceiling needs a fresh coat of paint. Also, her disappeared daughter was really weird.
Perdón pero no el caso de Liar Game. No estuvo mal la version coreana pero la original tiene esa esencia que de la sentido. Por algo se hicieron dos temporadas y como tres peliculas.
1] Boys Over Flower drama was my 1st Kdrama , it was good & I loved it sm ,but I would say its Thai adaptation really hits different

3] Rich man &Poor woman k drama was not my cup of tea , the FL looked emotionless , Suho did a good job( its true it did well & became popular only because of him)actually it was really a bad adaptation , I liked the OG version better {MY OPINION } 🙂
