As someone who did this mod myself, NEVER EVER use a power drill for this. Just use a triwing screwdriver, small Phillips head, and tweezers. Follow an in depth instructional video, there is a ton here on TH-cam and take your time. Took me around 2 hours for the whole switch mod and it turned out awesome. The most difficult part is removing the L and R button and reconnecting the ribbon cables. Incredible mod but take it slow

well Nintendo made both but for some reason the pro controller do not works on Pokémon Let's Go, ironically when playing this game on portable mode the two joycons works exactly like the pro controller but not the other way around.

I always roll my eyes at people who treat their Switch like a newborn (am I pressing buttons too hard?? Am I storing it correctly?? 🙄🙄) but seeing a hammer, mallet and a power tool near a switch gives me heart palpitations lol

I just did this for my girls switch lite, gave her the purple clear case. I'm a technician for all types of different machines though and it was a lot more smooth for me.

I did the atomic purple Joycon mods as well. Super frustrating. They look sweet but the process was infuriating and I'll never do custom Joycons ever again haha!

I almost lost my money because I was buying a just one from ebay Kleinanzeigen (similar to Facebook groups where private buyers and private sellers, sell or buy used stuff) because the Switch got more expensive and the shipping takes nearly everywhere a lot of time, and there are a lot of crooks. And he/she was also one. I was so happy because I thought my new switch would soon be shipped, I transfered about 300€ and maybe 3 hours later the seller wrote me that his account got hacked and that this switch does not exist.
The bank couldn't transfer my money back.
I immediately pressed charges against this person by the police.
I had a lot of luck. It seemed he wrote me a wrong name, so if you have the right Iban and everything, but the name is wrong, the bank can't transfer it. I got my money back today because there was something wrong.
I don't know if it was his name, maybe his bank account got blocked or closed, but I am so happy that I got my money back. It may not seem a lot of money, but I'm just a student who works after school. I can't earn more than 450€ a month. Mostly it isn't in my reach. I can't work a lot of hours because school an so on. Mostly I only have 200€ a month, and I need a lot of that for fuel so I can drive to school and to work.
I hope this person will get his punishment and that no one else got tricked. Sadly there are a lot of persons like this who say that they sell a switch but it never arrives. Also there are a lot of fake shops too.
I think I will give up my dream of having a switch and can play Animal Crossing or Pokémon. I really, really, could not belive that this happened. It feels just surreal.
Maybe in the future when I earn more I will be able to own a switch. But sadly I will need to wait a lot longer...
It's not a big problem, I could also be ill or have a broken leg or something like that. Stay Positive and stay healthy. :)

When you snipped the wire on the first joy con, I got an ad right after, I laughed
Having swapped Joy Con shells myself (opted for the white option with the DPad), I’d highly recommend a set of files. My + and - buttons were so tight in the shells that they were rendered non-functional. Had to take each joy con back apart to file the button holes to make them work.

I got my wife to change my switch joy cons and back case. Took her 2 hours. There's no way I could open my switch up and not burst out into tears. It turned out awesome.

This stuff is easy, its like a puzzle. The more you do it the more you realize how silly it was being so nervous about taking something apart. I've taken apart several Xbox 360's and my PS3 disassembled all the way to the motherboard, if a screw is a different color or just larger than the rest mark it with a marker so that the color is on both the screw and what its screwed in to so you know where it goes. Just remember these things are designed to be taken apart.
@@ToothpickMan11 The joy cons were a lot more complicated than I thought they'd be. I did mine like a year ago, got the jungle green shell, messed up twice and took me like 45 mins to complete. The shells are super cheap and one of the screws messed up the groove so I can no longer take it apart. The PS3, 360 and the Switch pro controller are super easy compared to the joy cons. Only one system was harder and that was the PSP as that took me about two hours and I had no idea where the WiFi antenna went so I just stuck it somewhere and taped it in place. It looks great in the clear blue shell.
It's much easier to take apart a ps4 than a switch joycon for the only reason that it's not delicate like a switch. I've teared down mine a few times and have gotten use to all its parts. It's no different from building or repairing an overcrowded pc.

3:20 That's exactly how I felt! I switched my casing to a NES design a couple of days ago. I love them and in post I'm very happy with it, but while I was doing it I was sorta regretting it because I felt sentimental towards the gray. I kept the casing in case I ever want to go back

He says it was for a joke but then he actually tried to use it so that completely negates the statement "it's for a joke" he knew it was a bad idea and then did it anyway.
Don't feel too bad. I work with power tools all the time and just did this with a drill not too long ago. Sometimes drill bits just break. Especially small ones.
I remember replacing my Wii case with a custom colored one and I swear to god, it took me something like 3-4 hours to complete because there was something like 80 super tiny screws just hidden everywhere and some of them were super soft so I stripped some of them. Once I was all done, I had something like 15 screws of varying sizes left over and the case still felt like it was on too tight or something. The best part was that I barely played my Wii at all and ended up selling it some months later.
Like my shop teacher always used to say "keep your hands away from the blade" then he goes back to playing solitaire
I've done shell swaps for 2 pairs of joy cons, 1 pro controller, and the back of the Switch itself. The Switch shell replacement was easiest, but if worried about damaging the console, I would advise not doing it. 1 of my left joy cons I went with a D-pad, instead of the normal buttons. I still have 1 pair of joy cons not modded, which are my original pair. The reason I left them as is and modded other ones is because I got the other 2 pairs used. Felt better to change a used pair than ones I paid full price for.
My only complaint about the joy cons shell swaps is that my trigger buttons all feel mushy. They work fine, but they don't have that click that they used to have with the normal shell. I've been told if I left the middle plastic piece as is, they'd be fine. What's the point of a shell swap if you're not doing the entire thing though, right?

I did the atomic purple as well for mine. I also did the back panel which was 5 screws and really easy. The joycons together took about an hour and a half but I'm familiar with this sort of thing. Still a huge pain to swap honestly

6:55 Those...were meant to be replacement case screws...to replace the triwing screws on the case with Phillips screws...not the internal screws....the people that sell those give you a video with step by step instructions...how did you mess it up so bad...I did this in a few hours and they came out perfect, but if you don't know all about the internals and just try to wing it...well I guess you found out, you screw up your joycons and mess everything up...
Even the little metal locking pins you order to replace the ones inside the Joy-Con come with screws and they include a video as well.

I modded mine. I upgraded the thermal system, new better thermal paste, removed the shim and made a fan cutout and lubricant in the fan assembly. Not sure of any gains but it fixed the weird fan noises and fan ramp-ups I was having. Fan cut out was just for fun. If you do this you will void your warranty and it’s very easy to damage internal parts mainly the fan if something falls in.
If you had just put it in the microwave it would've just popped off
