This is so far beyond cool!!! Old and gritty, real sound, Sony handheld. Great stuff. Surprised there isn't a datestamp in the corner😂😂😂 Keep posting these old gems
Shelby Indiana misses you Chessie System, Seaboard System, Family Lines, New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail, L&N, and ofcoarse the gone but never forgotten Monon "the Hoosier Line" railroads...❤
Anderson Indiana here, this is why I loved the 80s, I grew up 1 block from the North/South NYC/PC/Conrail line from Anderson to Marion and Elkhart yards and I'm building a Conrail N Scale layout in the mid 80s so I can run cabooses and a mix of power from these different roads!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁👍👍👍👍
Hi Zeke Ill try and see which F40 is leading on the 49 clip, Could possibly be 263 among other overhauled in those months. Nice shot of the last of the Summer 1983 to Spring 1988 consist, 4 Mail Fall 86 to Spring 88.
It was single track for roughly 40 years between Hamler and East Gary. The B&O took out the south track in sections and converted the line to CTC in the late 1950s. CSX changed it back to all double track in 1997.
That K5 at 7:01 is the best K5 I've ever heard in my life.

Nice catches from 1988. That K5LA at 7:01 though.
I love that Chessie K5LA booking it through Walkerton. Interesting long cut of coil cars with Chessie hoods.
7:01 that K5LA is godly!!
It’s so cool seeing lad footage of places I regularly visit now.

Still crazy to think that majority of the local and switching power we know today was once the creme de la creme of the railroads back then.
Great stuff!

I never knew they had sections of single track on the old B&O mainline (Chicago to WIllard OH)-it must have been a short lived reduction.
