How to Hand Pollinate Squash: Part 1

If you are an ambitious seed saver, this how-to video will take your skills to the next level! Lauren and Lavender learned last week how to hand pollinate squash from Liz and Electra of the Community Seed Exchange in Sebastopol. So this week Lauren demos her first attempt at hand-pollinating zucchini squash! In Part 1, she'll cover the first three steps: (1) how to identify male and female flowers of a zucchini plant, (2) flagging the female flower for easy ID, and (3) taping closed the selected male and female flowers so that the native pollinators (bees!) don't get a chance before hand pollinating begins in the morning.
