Many thanks for taking the time to post this. I had this on a VW T5 so as soon as I only had one speed on my Ducato I knew what the problem was, but not where it was! Thank again

The reason for this resistor failing might be that the bearing on the fan is sticky. Then the fan will not speed up and the temp fuse on top of the resistor blows. Some correct oil on the bearing end a new fuse and the fault is history. (this video is one of the best instructions I've seen for ages!)
Thanks so much much, I was about to take apart the dash thinking the problem was the switch!! I was able to test it with tinfoil and it worked so I ordered the part and installing the real one tomorrow. You've given me back my van heating.
Really helpful, thank you so much - 10minute job now the blowers are working perfectly! Really appreciate you taking the time to make and share this video
One of the best instructional videos I've seen. No nonsense or hogging the camera and pin points the exact location of the resistor. Helped me enormously... thank you so much, and happy camping.
Great video, saved me a lot of time and probably frustration! Took me 40 mins to replace the resistor and burnt wiring, fan working well now. Many thanks 👍😊
Another big thank you goes to you for sharing and helping! Appreciated! I see many people have already said thank you and I join them since I have the same problem that is addressed in your video! Happy holidays in 2023-2024!
thanks for taking the time to post this well explained procedure, everything needed including 5.5mm socket size. Got mine off today following this and able to check part before getting one for £11 online. Used a mirror and torch myself, as van in a tight drive, to find parts without neck strain!
Done mine yesterday. Before I purchased anything, I took out the resistor, cleaned the plug and sprayed some contact cleaner on the pins. Working perfect now.
mine sprang back to life after an unsuccessfully dismount last summer, having got the connector free, but soon reverted to no4 only. Did not mind in extreme heat! Now with new part on order will always have a spare if connector was the issue
Nice one! This has just fixed my 2016 Peugeot Boxer. Resistor cost £11 on ebay and took 5 mins to fix. As others, my fan would only work on full speed, now it works as it should. Thank you.
Thanks for this video mate, finally got round to checking mine in my Peugeot Boxer, as it would only work at #4. Pulled it out and checked the resistor with a meter. Resistor is fine but the whole thing is corroded, so sprayed all the contacts (plug and resistor pack contacts) with electrical contact spray, and plugged it all back in, and it's working again. I've also got a new one on order :) and will swap it out as soon as it arrives... happy days.
Thanks, especially the tip about sliding the resistor out. Checked resistor pack with a multimeter OK. Mine turned out to be bad contact in the connector. Bit of emery paper and all working again.
Really helpful - Thanks. Worked on our Autosleepers. Would have spent ages trying to pull out the old resistor without this - or given up and gone to the garage.
Thank you, I was cussing because I bought the part 1st and couldn’t get it off (simply slide it…. Trying to break it off before watching this), that is after the 5.5 socket that I was cussing about but had one in a kit so job done. Thanks again
i have a non working fan motor - been like it for a year, but as i have an auxilliary diesel heater, i wasn't too bothered with it. But now we heading in to colder weather, i feel it incumbent to get the thing working - not so much for the heating in cab area, but to dlear inside of windscreen when it mists up. i ordered my resistor from Germany - it was a lot cheaper than ebay, and didn't take very long to arrive. Going to try and locate the old one today, and like your video, i also will video it if possible for future reference for other people with same vehicle as myself ( Iveco 50C13 16 seat minibus) Many thanks for your helpful video on this subject.
The problem I described is that the fan is either (1) Off on settings 1,2 &3 (2) Only works on setting 4, full speed. The fan DID work but only on full speed. The resistor is used to slow the fan down. If your fan DOES NOT work then you have a different problem.
great vid and very useful. thank you. Only point i would add is that in my experience, having a left hand (passenger) door doesnt help. still easier squeezing in like you did
Many thanks for this - had intermittent problem as you describe which turned out to be loose connector which is in exactly the same position on my 2010 Citroen Relay.
Thanks for this instruction. Hopefully similar to my 35S13 Daily camper. Fan stopped completely fuse and relay appear Ok so next up is the resistor - Hate working in the footwell!
Many thanks for that , took my relay van in to have marker lights fixed , took him three hours to find a fuse , cost £144 , tools him wanted heater blower doing , thank god I saw this .
The cable have burn and it has 4 cables and no I need to know witch cabel is on No1 to No5, there is 5 connection but only 4 cables, the colours are black / black-white / black-gray / gray The black and black-white is thicker. Need help and thanks for a great video
I had this issue, I went to check mine today and one of the wires has melted, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now its working again, probably not for long but it'll do for now
I don't know you, but, if I did you would be getting a Large (make that a dozen) bottle's of the wine you prefer. Changed this last year in the South Of France $95 Euros. It took the frog mechanic IN A FIAT Dealership 45 minutes to change it. Just been turned back from entering Scotland 19/04/21 by the Police and it blew again. Back in Leeds, watched your video , bought the part £39 and fixed in 10 minutes. Yeeeha, for folk like thee cithie. Apparently we are only allowed to enter Scotland from the 26th of this month?! I could not make this up!
that is a brilliant no nonsense video no miles of waffle , i love it sure will save us lots searching and struggling to do ours if need be, do you have the new part number please? thank you & happy camping.
I think the best thing to do is extract the faulty one and get the part number from that. There are several different types out there and I think I got lucky just eye-balling it on a web site.
Thanks alot for the tips. Maked some more savings by just changing the resistor heat fuse. Simply clip it out and welded new one carefully 1€ a piece from local electricalstrore . Easy piecy.
A very informative video you made it look so easy, would the location of resistor be similar on a B644 2001 LHD Fiat Ducato Chassis, at the moment fan not working.
I'm guessing yes....but there's only one way to find out. However if it's not working at all then I think you have a different issue. Worth pulling out the plug and resistor to check though.
@@gohumberto Hi thanks for your reply, i will first locate the resistor & then get an auto electrician to find what the problem is as i would not know where to look. Will let you know of the outcome
TIP: Always check first this connector on this resistor when you have problems with not-working fanspeeds or airco failures. I had to find out the hard way doing a lot of work checking al parts piece by piece.
Hi Thanks for the video, I have just replaced mine however the heater is still not working. The AC light works now when turned on and off, this wasn’t happening before. Still no air or heat moving whatsoever on any setting. Any ideas ?
great video. Thanks Mine problem is a bit different. Whatever speed I select it is all blowing at maximum. Even when I select 0, it does not want to stop. It was too hot and entire day driving with a/c and fan at max. Do you think is the resistor or the selector melted ?
My heater was only working on 4 and after pulling the resistor out the heater still works on 4. So I wonder why it still works. Maybe the 1, 2 ,3 only work with the resistor? Any the old one still looks good Im not sure if its blown or not. Ive ordered 3 off eBay for $18 because they were so cheap. They want $100 for one here in New Zealand!
It's likely to be the actual switch (the piece behind your 1,2,3,4 position dial) that is burnt out. see at 3.00 mins at this link: th-cam.com/video/HwQECDGve4g/w-d-xo.html "Go Humberto" - I hope you don't mind me adding the link to your post. Your video has been excellent and helped me with my Citroen Relay Van , where like yours, the strongest position (position 4 on my switch) worked but 1,2 and 3 didn't because the resistor was faulty and could therefored not function to slow the fan down. Big thank you to you for your great video and contortions to explain everything in great detail :-)
Thanks! I was already gearing up to take apart my glove box after watching other videos. This saves me a ton of time!
The bit that I needed was your instruction to slide our the resistor. Easy when you know how but impossible if you don't.
Many thanks for taking the time to post this. I had this on a VW T5 so as soon as I only had one speed on my Ducato I knew what the problem was, but not where it was! Thank again

Thank you . I never expected it to be so helpful when I did it. It makes it worthwhile now.
Thank you for a great explanation. I knew what the fault was & what was causing it but didn't know where to find the rheostat/resistor. 👍
thank you for this video, local garage quoted me £85 plus the price of a resistor. I am confident that I can now do it myself thank you

Thanks really appreciate your help, could have taken hours without, even finding it’s a 5.5mm socket 😂👏👏
Thank you. You spared me from headaches from the noise and cold feet when I use the AC.
I was lucky: There was only a bad contact in the connector.
Done mine yesterday. Before I purchased anything, I took out the resistor, cleaned the plug and sprayed some contact cleaner on the pins. Working perfect now.

Thnx for this video, just replaced mine on our holliday in about 5 minutes!! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for this vid.
In a LOT of cases the contacts just need cleaning. Certainly worked for mine.
Thanks for the video. Very usful indeed. Saves a lot of time and effort. Now need to see if I can find a spare in Spain.
Thanks, Saved me hours trying to figure out where it was
Thanks man - had the same issue on my Elddis and couldn't figure out how to remove the resistor, Saved me a lot of swearing!
Hey Humberto,

Excellent thanks. Especially the need to slide the unit along prior to removal.
Thank you so much for posting this information. I replaced resistor & hey presto fan now working perfectly on all speeds 👍👍👍👍
