    I have the F502, and YES, they tell the source quite a lot, even DACs change the sound. The change on the tube preamp is drastic in tone, and because of this I bi amplify them. Different amplifiers for the woofers and tweeters. I then balanced the sound and the room measurements at the listening position are really good. I did apply a high pass filter to give them more headroom (they have 300wpc dual mono, becase the woofers have dips of 3ohm) - and to minimize the woofer excursion at louder volumes. Added subwoofer 12" and it drops to 20hz.
    It sounds believable, yet exciting. I can play any genre, from EDM to Opera, from Andean acoustic to Norwegian Black metal. It's all good, non fatiguing sound. I know, the measurements aren't smooth. But I've had KEF R500 and Focal Aria, Klipsch Heresy iii, JBL L100 among others at home. Man, like... The depth, tone, layering, size!!, holophonicness, expressive dynamics I get from this is drunkening. I stopped swapping speakers, unless I want to go fro the 502SP. But all and all, love them. Been just enjoying music months now.

    • @BastianUllr
      @BastianUllr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rafaurbanik8511 You cannot tell these things from afar. I am a big fan of Yamaha, to be honest. I am a detractor of boutique sound. These questions will cause you to purchase things going around in circles.
      The room and how you place your speakers have more impact IMO. If the placement isn't great. sound won't be great no matter what. If placement is good and you achieve a decent sound measuring space (it can be done in the living room, even easier than in a dedicated room I have found), it would sound nice. Will improve with better electronics over the A-S301? Sure. How much? Not worth sleepless nights. It is a matter of disposable income by today's standards. How much you can/want to spend on an amplifier. 100, 1000, 10000, 100000? You totally can. No, it's not going to be like listening to a boombox vs live performance. No matter how much you spend, they are ALWAYS a stereophonic gimmick and will sound as such.

    This is a very interesting review because the uneven response at the top would suggest -- to me, anyway -- that the speaker should be happier with a more toe-tappy, forward-leaning amp, but almost as soon as I'd formed that thought, Terry said that they'll be much happier with a warmer sounding amp. I wonder if that's more an outgrowth of the faster midrange, than of the uneven top end?

    I absolutely love mine, which is used in tandem with a Naim Audio Nait 5SI | Witch Hat Audio SCs as well as a Mac Mini | Rein Audio X-DAC........, and in the end after doing this for well over 43 years, ( and all of 16 systems later ) I’ve never been happier.

    F500 falls hard, down to "between SVS and Acoustic Energy", wow. It's becoming quite clear that the well established larger speaker manufacturers have a substantial advantage in budget for R&D, and extensive experience (see B&W, Focal, Klipsch, Wharfedale). I love Fyne Audio's 700 series and above speaker lines, nonetheless. Great work as always Terry, thanks.

    wait till u go for the f501, it is very transparent for the price to the point I have to tune my amp change my speaker cables and power cord because it reveal the rest of the components without much mercy. after that once u get it right they will sound extremely holographic, layering, width, depth and height is jaws dropping. also mind u that u can upgrade your source, amp and power cables these speakers can and will keep up easily. one point to take note it is very sensitive to the choice of speakers and interconnects, u can hear shitty cables how they sound like and good cables u will know it and it will just disappears these speakers are not for beginners or those just starting in audio they are more for more experience audio guys, so do not fault them if u can’t get them to sound right it is because u might have match them with the wrong cables and components.

    Great review, first a question... In the USA this speaker is called the f502,,, is it really the f500 in UK? I think you hit most of the points I did. But you missed one that I though was very important. upper freq sound stage is quite narrow, you have to ensure the center of the speakers are aimed at you, or you can hear a drop in high freqs as you move some 20 to 30 deg from center. I almost wish they would have made the cabinet a bit taller to hopefully produce deeper bass. I will say that I ended up purchasing a pair of the younger brother f301 which is an outstanding value for about Half the price. Peace out from Texas.

    No the klipsch doesn't have a tractrix bass reflex
    Don't waste your money on the speakers you can get the 8-inch tannoy series gold monitor active speakers for 400£ a much better speak. Or the seven even less.
    Can't see any benefit in the speakers specially at that price! they are poor representation of tannoy's
    You should check out the sound artist speakers concentric drivers, they will be better than these and do an 8-inch model scsb, and a 15-inch model floorstander 15-inch model is fairly cheap for what you get I don't know what they sound like but they look good by anything to go by the 8-inch should be very good. You should try the 8-inch model see how you get on Terry!! Cheap as well.
