I am so glad that you showed that the packaging is not good for people with mobility issues. Unfortunately, I am one of those people. I fight with my Fenty Beauty, facial cleanser packaging and I hate it! Unfortunately, for me, my skin loves it, but I am NOT going to buy anything else that I have to fight with!
It makes me so mad that universa design is still ignored in packaging. And they use those nice ball caps on their makeup...I actually thought they did that for those of us with hand issues, but nope. Aesthetic, aesthetic, aesthetic...that's all that matters.
@@standdownrobots_ihaveoldgloryI wish that was the case. I found it crazy how many people were saying that and the brand never said one way or the other. But of course why would they when they were making so much money!
But have you at least tried out the testers yourself? I plan to do that as someone with mobility issues in an autoimmune disorder. I appreciate Jen's video but I also think that what is considered easy or not easy for someone with mobility issues is subjective and to get the opinion of someone who doesn't have mobility issues saying that this is terrible really shocked me. Selena has claimed that all of her products are always intentionally made to keep those things in mind since she is a spoonie herself so I find this very confusing and I'm not going to make a decision based on a video Until I have the products in my hands and try for myself.
@@curlycurvypassion Two things… Number one, I am a long time viewer of Jen‘s content, and I trust her on these things very much. Number two is that I could tell from what she was having to pull on to open that hand thing that I could not grip that. If I am not mistaken, Selena stated that she does not make items that are specifically for those with mobility issues, but that she was glad that the ones she had made were working great for that. It was a rumor that had gone around that she had designed it for that, but she corrected this herself.
About the aromatherapy stick, there is a European brand called rituals that has a similar product called ritual of jing relaxing serum, for about $15, and origins has a peppermint “peace of mind” aromatherapy product that is a creamy texture that is $20. I have both and I tried the rare beauty. The other 2 are much more mint forward and are invigorating as well as relaxing. They don’t have the floral and tonka notes. They’re also much easier to dispense.
I was going to bring up the Origins one too! My mom got me a bottle of Peace of Mind for my migraines IN THE 90s and it's still just as good. And that little bottle goes a very long way. I use migrastil that I get on Amazon now, but every so often I treat myself to the Origins one because it's so good.
The value comparison portion tickles something in my brain and I’m loving it sooooo much. Thank you for putting so much work into this! Would love to see more!
love how you approach talking about the accessibility for the packaging jen-- not enough people talk about that when reviewing products! thanks for the video
I hope somehow she sees this video and sees that you like the product, but not the packaging and you were so thorough. I think that could be helpful to the brand.
Another benefit of a softer plastic, tube container is that you can cut through the center when you get close to the end and surprise! There’s usually several more applications left in there.
I really appreciate it when you talk about how hard/easy packaging is to open for those who have mobility issues. My mother had issues opening/twisting things because of her illness and it was frustrating for her. It is something a lot of people probably don't think about and it means a lot that you don't forget those people.
I have one of those jar lid poppers, and it's a lifesaver. I have arthritis and CFS, and opening a vacuum sealed jar is often impossible without my little seal breaker. It makes the difference between no salsa and yes salsa.
i bought the hand cream. i have nerve damage from a spinal issue and it is really hard to work with. went back to bath and body works for their hand cream because it is just a simple tube that squeezes easily
As a woman of a certain age (62) my RA is becoming more difficult to use certain packaging. Thank you, Jen Luv for your very thorough review of these products. Those scents would most definitely interfere with my new favorite fragrance, Coco by Chanel. You were wearing her new hoodie. Is it nice? How expensive is it & is it worth the price? Thanks again, Jen! Love your reviews & your videos! ❤
Fantastic deep dive! I thought the bottles looked difficult to squeeze (but definitely beautiful). Thanks for the amazing tables too! The sweatshirt is definely a good color for you!
Ugh I'm so bummed about the packaging! But thanks, Jen, for not only telling us about the truth of getting to the product but also for the images on your hands manipulating the products. That gave me so much valuable information - watching how the joints of your hands moved allowed me to extrapolate and imagine the likely result i would get with my very easily dislocated hands. I really hope Selena repackages some because i would like to try them.
@@maryeckel9682there are such fantastic fragrance free body product options out there at lower prices, I don’t really need the same type of thing from Rare. CeraVe, La Roche Possay, and Eucerin make such wonderful options. Paula’s Choice and Necessaire if you want a high end option. I feel like the only reason to pay for more expensive products is if you really want the fragrance for the experience because those ingredients can be expensive. If I’m going to pay more I want them from brands I trust to provide high quality skincare, which, for me, isn’t Rare.
I bought the body mist and I love scent. I wish it lasted longer but since it’s a body mist I guess that’s expected. It’s a “warm”lemony scent that was unexpected but it smells so good. I’m glad I got it and will probably repurchase when I run out.
I have major issues with gripping and squeezing due to damage to my tendons that connect the thumb and wrist. It's so frustrating when I can't dispense products easily or if I cause myself pain trying. This is such a no-go for me and I appreciate you adding mobility issue concerns to your review.
I love them :) ( I have yet to try the aromatherapy pen yet though). I spray my bed down and put the lotion on my legs, feet, arms before bedtime like a little ritual. I learned after some trial and error that if I give the lotion a good solid shake (like one hard motion) I can get all the product down to the top of the bottle then I open it :) Maybe she will take the usability into consideration and change up the bottle a bit, that way you might get to enjoy them again!
Hey Jen, in regards to the roller: a comparable product would be the Sleep and Relax Serum by Rituals out of the Jing collection. 15ml 14€. And Rituals is considered mid to higher end in Europe. So the price of the Rare beauty aroma therapy roller is laughable.
Thankyou for the packaging review! I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and it causes low dexterity and mobility for me, I wouldn't be able to use any of this products without dislocating my fingers! I really hope the brand hears this important feedback, because it'd be awesome to try with some malleable soft-touch products that can be used by ALL people (Disabled folks make up 20% of the market, and have buying power too)
I also tried the Find Comfort collection and I love it! But I agree with you - the body lotion is really hard to get the product out. I think the hand cream is a little easier, but it would be nice if both of these could be easier to use. Hopefully they will work on the packaging of these for future products. Thanks for sharing, great video! 🫶🏻
New subscriber today! I love all the breakdowns that you do, I find the information so interesting. It’s nice to get opinions but you can’t beat facts. Looking forward to more videos. 😊
thank u Jen for talking about the packaging issues that would make it hard to use for people with disabilities effecting their hands I have hypermobility in my fingers so while I’m strong and dexterous (i craft A LOT) I have to be careful with how I use my hands
I just smelled these in store tonight! And then, I saw your video. Such perfect timing! Thank you so much for doing all this work and giving us all your thoughts! (I kinda want the hoodie!) Origins has a similar head product...it's a little different, more like a lotion. Peace of Mind on the Spot Relief. When I smelled the Rare Beauty one in store tonight, I immediately thought of that.
I only bought the hair and body mist. I figured that was the best bang for my buck. Plus I work remote and I don’t need fragrance to last a long time. I do like the scent. Im starting to get mobility issues (thanks menopause) so it’s good to know about the issues.
This is my first video from you and I'm loving it! As someone with serious mobility issues in my hands I super appreciate you bringing up that these may be difficult for some to use. I also find it really disappointing that Selena's brand didn't prioritize access even with the founder having Lupus.
I did buy both lotions, the pen and the mist. When you said the mist didn’t last long, I thought you were being generous. I didn’t think it lasted at ALL. It smells very good and I misted it around my pillow, hair, neck and chest so I could sleep in a nice fragrance. In virtually no time, the smell just disappeared. And I know sometimes you can’t smell fragrance on yourself so I left for a couple of minutes, came back and just nothing.
There ARE rollerball aromatherapy in existence with way more product in it, I just find they aren’t at Sephora or Ulta. I always was gifted them by local places. Maybe one day they’ll change it but I think that’s too costly to get her interpretation of it 🤷♀️ I like the the look of all her packaging here but functionality matters to me
Thanks for showing the packaging and the issues those of us with mobility issues might have with it. While these may be great products, they are not going to work if we can't get them out of the packaging. For me, as a person with a mobility issue, this line is going to be a pass.
Jen! I love these videos from you - always psyched when you breakdown the ingredients and you are super thorough! I feel especially grateful for your sensitivity to those of us that struggle with hand strength and mobility issues. Judging from the comment section there’s quite a few of us that appreciate the heads up. 😊🤗
Totally agree about the lotions. I really like them but the containers are so aggravating. I even pulled a muscle trying to squeeze out the lotion. I don't have big mobility issues, just older arthritic hands. If they were in an easy to use container I would definitely repurchase but no way with how they are now.
Thank you Jen. I'll definitely be passing on this set. I have issues opening items so not for me. I really appreciate you highlighting how difficult the packaging is to open or squeeze the product out. Have a wonderful day. Thanks for another great video.
If I had only watched this earlier because I bought the body lotion today and I have fibromyalgia 😢 I’ll give it a go but if I can’t use it I’ll just take it back to Sephora and they’ll give me my money back if it’s before 30 days. This makes me so sad because I love Rare Beauty and the fragrance is so nice. Thank you Jen for the great honest review. I see you are almost at your goal. By tomorrow you might be there 🎉
The only ABH palette I like is the Carli Bybel one. I bought a vault with the Modern Renaissance and Soft Glam, and declutterred both. The mattes were nice but so dusty, and the shimmers would disappear, and I wear eyeshadow primer every day.
I ❤ all the Rare Beauty comfort collection😊. I use the aromatherapy pen at work, and it totally helps me distress!! I agree it can be hard to squeeze out the last of the body lotion but I’m still a fan because it smells SO good and leaves my skin soft and non greasy. 🎉. I’m OBSESSED with the body/hair mist 🥰 Thank you for your review!
I love all 4 and think they should come with a warning of their addictive/habit forming properties 😅 - esp considering how little you get!! I also 100% agree the packaging does not give comfort 😆It’s beautiful and bougie feeling, yes, but I’d take cheaper plastic that’d be easier to squeeze!
Jen, you know I love me some Jen Luv style reviews! I literally have no questions… they were all answered and you thought of stuff I would not have. 300k here we come!
I have RA and cannot squeeze soft plastic so a pass for these. I usually try to use a pump and recycle any pump I can find. So I can hit it with the palm of my hand.
Re the aromatherapy pen: You're right it is unique. I went to a spa in the 90s and had a scalp and hand massage. They used a vial of Aveda Blue Oil. OMG it was heavenly! I'm allergic to most perfumes but this mixture smelled amazing, made me feel calm, and no allergies. It had a rollerball, too. I paid $20 CAD and brought one home. And then I drove 4 hours to get another one (the internet was new and most brands didn't sell online then). Then they replaced it in 2017, of course. I believe it WAS their best selling product, ever.
I’m surprised Selena created products with such difficult packaging given how everything else in rare beauty is supposed to help people with mobility issues and she herself struggles with it due to lupus
this was a rumor and the company has even said even though they happen to be designed in a way that makes it easier to open, this was not intentional and just a coincidence
Thank you for the review, i was planning to buy the lotion but seeing how difficult the packaging is I’m going to steer clear of that due to arthritis in my hands, however I will purchase the spray just to have the scent. This video was very, very helpful.
I bought the hand cream and body lotion. I love the hand cream. It smells great and it makes my hands feel moisturized. The body lotion is ok, but nothing special. The packaging is really hard to open and it is a deterrent for using the products. That said, I love the hand cream so much that I use it and will buy another one. I also bought the heating pad and it’s nice. I thought it was worth the price. You can remove the cover and wash it. 🎀
The aromatherapy pen made me think of the Jo Loves frangrance paintbrush gel its a 7ml paintbrush which comes with a 7ml refill so 14ml for £40 and the refills are 3*7ml for £35 so slightly cheaper than the £20 for 5mls with rare beauty, but they come in a variety of scents and are refillable for a lot cheaper.
I generally compare the cost to the amount of product I'm getting so even though I was curious about the hand cream I had decided not to get it until I learned about the hand massage aspect of the design. I thought I would like it and keep using it even after it was empty so I decided it was worth it. Not a huge fan of the scent, I didn't notice it being difficult to use but I have strong hands. The shape is really enjoyable for hand massage. Glad I got it. Thanks for the thorough review🙂
I have a nerve disease called CIDP, along with other 💩. I doubt I could use any of those products the way they’re packaged. You are so right that It doesn’t matter how good the product inside is if it has bad packaging. Thank you so very much Jen for all your hard work. You are a darling girl and I get a kick when you get scientific. I like ingredient sleuthing too 😊.
In the 90s, I used to love an Origins aromatherapy that was peppermint. I would put it on my temples. Now I want to see if they still sell it and compare it to Rare Beauty. It was small too, and I would go through it so fast.
This information was so useful. My hands are very weak. I really want the hand cream, but that’s a non-negotiable for me. I wish the products were in recyclable plastic!
First, the color of that sweatshirt looks amazing on you!! Love the review, the honesty is appreciated. The packaging does look soft but I did wonder if that lotion would be hard to squeeze, it looks like it would be. I do like that the hand cream packaging moonlights as a massager! And that rollerball looks like a major disappointment. 5ml?! I think Rare Beauty should be ashamed to put that out. Hair mist appeals to me, but that’s about it. I love a good hair mist 💁🏻♀️
The aromatherapy pen is such an Asian mom thing lol my mom used to homemake aromatherapy pens and have them in her purse! Tiger balm actually has one too!
I am a little bummed to hear this given her makeup like is supposed to be easier for people for mobility issues. I love the blushes because of the formula and packaging. Thank you for the thorough review.
I was very surprised at how hard the packaging was to open. In NY with the weather, my arthritis kicked in and I was struggling. I was surprised considering she made the rest of her line with packaging for that client specifically.
I bought the body spray and really love the smell. I just want to let you know that be careful when you spray that you do not get it on your clothes. Since it has some oil, it will stain your clothes.
Hi Jen! I am having a problem with my skin care…in that I think I am using things that are duplicates of each other without knowing it. I am trying to cut back on spending and was hoping that you might know of a site where I could plug in everything I use on my skin, and it could tell me where I am duplicating. I know… Random question!
I come here for the beauty and I learn about French environmental sustainability initiatives... Gosh I love this chanel. (also I have a degree in environmental policy so it was both very engaging and slightly humbling)

She didn't design the packing for the rest of RB packaging with that in mind
this was a rumor and the company has even said even though they happen to be designed in a way that makes it easier to open, this was not intentional and just a coincidence
Agree!
@@nancy92792it was an actual thing that Selena used as a talking point at the launch of the brand. I’m so confused too.
good comment
I love the hand cream and the bag is huge and water resistant. I may or may not have dropped a drink on it 😂
Wow, I love this thorough review! Thanks Jen!
I didn't know i needed that body spray until now. Also, that hoodie is a great color on you, love it w the lipstick~ ,)
also, that moment the geek inside with joy when you say you've made charts
on point palm massage :D good job !
That's Jo Malone, right?
@@maryeckel9682 It's Jo Malone's brand that she opened after leaving Jo Malone under Estée Lauder.
I have missed these videos!
Loved this!!!!!
I often see a peppermint type roller at my local Dollar Tree. My mom simply loves it and for $1.25 if you hate it, not such a big deal.
I was somewhat curious about the Comfort Line but a lot of what you mentioned is a deal-breaker for me. I'm not wasting my time on bad packaging.
Thanks for the notes on accessibility, Jen. As a disabled viewer, it means a lot! ❤
This information was so useful. My hands are very weak. I really want the hand cream, but that’s a non-negotiable for me. I wish the products were in recyclable plastic!
Love the mist.
Great review! They need to fix that issue-make an optional non-hand hurting bottle!
Thank you so much! you just saved me time and money.
I was very surprised at how hard the packaging was to open. In NY with the weather, my arthritis kicked in and I was struggling. I was surprised considering she made the rest of her line with packaging for that client specifically.
You deserve 300 million subscribers 😊
The loccitane hand cream comparison gave me a chuckle. If you know you know.
Ahh! I really want hoodie but I like an oversized fit and the XL is sold out! 😭
I love the color
Thank you so very much for this review. Your the best
Let me rephrase… ANYONE who knows of a site like that, please let me know!
I come here for the beauty and I learn about French environmental sustainability initiatives... Gosh I love this chanel. (also I have a degree in environmental policy so it was both very engaging and slightly humbling)
I really like the product. But hard to use, I hope Selena listens to us and make the packaging easier for us.
