With Linda's voice, I kind of took it that Serenas voice was changing during her mid teen years. She just turned 15 in the special 2 part episodes "BIRTHDAY BLUES, 1 AND 2", thus her voice was cracking. Because she didn't sound like a little girl anymore like Tracey. Nor did she sound like Terri who was acting in the 14th year. And LINDA did a Fantastic job with the Temper Tantrum over the lemon pie that Rinni ate, because Linda had to act through nearly a dozen(12) emotions within only 3 minutes, and Linda blew the roof off the studio 🎙 with her hissyfit, and coniption..
I agree. She mimics Terri Hawkes own princess/queen Serenity voice pretty well IMO. That may have contributed to her getting the gig. But that's just a guess
I'm from Mexico and I really like the work Tracey Moore and Terri Hawkes did with Usagi and without a doubt they are my favorite voices of the English dub of SM. The ones that leave much to be owed are Linda and Stephanie, the first one went way out of character when interpreting it, exaggerating it, while the second one imitates in an unnatural and forced way the Japanese voice and interpretation. Well, I realized that Viz Media's re-dubbing tries to match the Japanese one at all costs.🥴

But I think depending on who directed the episodes, some episodes sounded better than the others. For example, I went to see the SuperS movie in theaters, and their performances and lines seemed to be better than the episodes from the series. Couldn't tell ya why.
After speaking with the original VA for Sailor Mars at Comic Con a few years ago, I got the distinctive impression that even if they were asked, none of either the DiC or CWi cast would touch SMC. The personalities are far different than their respective characters of the 90s dub. There is no Usagi/Rei bantering, and that was pretty iconic. Rei in SMC and the manga isn't interested in boys. Plus, the whole Senshi/Shittenou pairing didn't really sit well, given that it was completely absent in the original anime (in Mars' defense, she'd take Yuuchiro/Chad (who is a 90s anime exclusive character) over Jadeite/Jedite any day). Add the fact that Luna no longer sounds like a British nanny, it just wouldn't fit. Stephanie Sheh owned Usagi in SMC, mainly because of the writing. Asking the other three VAs to tone down on Usagi/Serena's whining would be a huge departure for the character. Sorry, but I cannot see them voicing our favorite meatball head crybaby in SMC.
@@lizsmith8136 I would of really liked if the OG cast come back for the BluRay release of the 90's anime but it wouldn't make any since to have separate teams of voice actors for the 90's and Crystal dubs. And while I think most of them could of done well in their rolls if they had returned yeah they probably would of felt like completely different characters to them and the dialog wouldn't of been nearly as fun. Thanks for the info! That's super interesting to learn.

Because, for instance, Terri had the most episodes, she could hold some words longer, or accentuate other words, and by just Listening, you can hear the inflections. And know EXACTLY what episode each phrase was used in. Cooool!!!!! HI from April 2023A.D!! Happy Easter, and RESURRECTION SUNDAY!!! GLORY ALLELUIA 🥰!!! AMEN ✝️ 🙏!!!!!
Yeah when working on these videos I sifted through a ton of episodes to find the audio clips that timed the best with each transformation and attack from Crystal. Mars and Jupiter especially I remember looking through tons of episodes because some of their attack names were really stretched out in the DIC dub. I'm glad that each episode is re-recorded cause it made for better results for my videos and it just sounds more natural in the episodes themselves!
Love it!!!! The first two og voices where iconic!!! Never like the third one though, felt too forced trying to emulate the previous two actresses. Is interesting how fitting they are even though the voices are from the 90's.

Linda doesn't sound bad when she's doing the attack names but when she's speaking normally it's like nails on a chalkboard.

I agree the voice acting was good for day but I do agree the OG voices dont really match the personalities like they do with viz dub
