    Snowy Owls are so beautiful!!
    I have 2 Barred Owls that live in the game reserve behind my property here in Texas. I've never seen them but I have sure heard them talking to each other off in the distance around midnight or later.
    So cool !! Loved watching, and seeing the ducks and sea gulls too. Thanks!! Stay warm up there.

    I'm from the eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Snowy Owls are literally everywhere around here. The most I've seen in one trip is 11, in about an hour, but I know people who have seen over 30 in one trip.

    Such a cool bird. I saw one in 2013 in Florida!! 2013 was an exceptional year. There were three arctic birds here in North Florida at the same time: Snowy Owls, Snow Buntings and Harlequin Duck.

    Ryan and Derek, thank you for your awesome youtube channel. I live in Holland, MI. So many of the species we see here are the same. I am organizing a youth birding day for our county middle May 2022. Im planning on using your channel to generate excitement for birding. It's so cool for our youth to see young birders like you. Most birders around here are over 50. Our county has loads of birding locations being next to the lake, having huge dunes, swamps, grasslands and dense forests. We are also seeing many Snowy Owls this year. Lemmings must be in short supply this year. One snowy was photographed on a car at Grand Haven, MI high school.

      Thank you so much for your kind words! You are very much welcome to share our channel with your young birders. Also, let us know if you would ever like us to speak with them over zoom to answer any questions they may have

    I know I should not be picky but I would love to spot one in a field or rural area, I just love the pictures of them roosting on top of old barns. Looks I need to head over to the lakefront as I am only about 20 miles from lots of sightings in IL on E-bird. Funny story I thought I saw first one in the middle of a big sod farm them other day way off in the distance, slammed on my brakes, parked on the side of the road got my binoculars out and it was a 5 gallon white bucket with black stripes on it on top of a pole, either a funny joke by the farmer or coincidence. My parents live in Central WI very close to BV and that looks like a very hot location.

    • @BadgerlandBirding
      @BadgerlandBirding  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bags and buckets are definitely the enemy of people looking for Snowy Owls lol In regards to being picky, I remember a few years ago a Snowy was being seen in a farm field with old tractors in it and people were just desperate to get a photo of it sitting on the old tractors

    Snowy Owl is such a cool bird. In the winter of 2013/2014 there was an eruption year and we even got a couple of dozen birds in Europe! The birds that made the journey probably did so by ships. I heard of a story where a Snowy owl was catching fish out at sea and then returning to the ship. What amazing birds.
    This year there have been a couple of Snowy Owls in southern Europe. I hope they reach the Netherlands again on their way north.
    BTW love your videos. They're a real inspiration for me.

    Anyone who likes these videos, it really helps them out (and other people who like their videos) for you to subscribe, comment, and share with your FB or other social media friends. I know from experience it doesn't cost you anything or have a bad effect on your YT experience (you might get ads that more closely reflect your tastes, but not more ads than you normally get). I note that their subscriber number is climbing steadily - they deserve to make 10K and beyond for all the great videos they make.!
