A young Donald Trump (Sebastian Stan), eager to make his name as a hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn (Jeremy Strong), the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today. Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé-someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win.

Jeremy Strong is so unbelievably good in this movie
His Oscar nomination is so well-deserved.
If Kendall Roy became a serious person

Great movie Trump shouldn’t be mad it makes him more sympathetic if anything even if he is a jerk in this movie people already think he’s a jerk
In real life, he never lost this case. Because there was nothing there. These scenes are made up stories - Roy Cohn was dead 40 years ago.
"Rule 3. Claim victory, and never admit defeat."
That sounds awfully familiar.
Excellent performances showcasing truth, no surprise Trump hates the movie.
Thi s movei really exposed the thinking and world of Trump. Well played

Wow Martin Donovan looks so much like Fred Trump Sr! 😮
Good film, but dam that one scene between him and his wife was hard to watch.
Indeed😢
It all fake news, hello.
Completely made up
@ it’s based on his first wife’s testimony for sexual assault although she jumped back and fourth of calling it rape.
@@gk1961 "admit nothing, deny everything"
Roy Cohn permeated his whole being
This explains why Trump didn’t “lose” the 2020 election. He remembered the most important rule
Nope it is why he lost the election and why he tried to rig it in his favor with the fake elector slate and also why over 17 judges(most of them were republicans could find nothing that backed up his lies).
Well this movie is propaganda. So I wouldnt read into it too deeply.
@@Cha4k That propaganda came from his Art Deal book and from what of Trump's closet friends who knew about all these events(some are Hollywood influenced). But most of it was based on actual accounts.
@@Cha4kthis.
@@Cha4kRoy Cohn taught these exact things to trump. H9w is it propaganda?
Trump is a genius
or surrounded himself with soulless sharks.
not so sure. More like a spoiled brat that is used to always have his way thanks to his dad's money and fame.
I gotta see this very accurate film!
First off the acting and story telling is amazing . That being said there is truth mixed in with fiction or speculation the trial happened Roy becomes trump’s attorney all true but no body knows what happens behind closed doors their is no evidence . This is all speculation and hearsay. Either way great acting very captivating and I have a feeling the truth is probably more entertaining than the fiction but this story is still being told.
Jeremy strong has been a great actor along time glad to see him finally getting his flowers
Remember, they all loved him until he decided to run for office. Never forget that.
100%
Hillary Clinton must have studied the book this was based on, because she used the same defense: "Nobody told me the 'c's in the margins meant classified"
Exactly.
Immense respect for Roy Cohn.
Fight Fight fight
Anyone who seen this: is it as demonizing of Trump as it seems?
I think it paints a pretty good picture of his character. You understand how became who he is today, how and why he behaves the way he does. Depending on your worldview, it's either frightening or glorifying. Eight years ago, I didn't understand him, many of us didn't, I think. This film explains a lot.
@@alfromwork I see. That’s a very thoughtful response. I appreciate it
@@alfromwork and the people that blindly take a movie as fact can be judged the same. its an obvious smear piece, but this is the kind of juicy stuff that liberals leach on to.
One line from a comedian actually explains a lot about what he’s doing and how he handles it.
This Comedian actually riffed on him really hard. Donald was also present in the audience.
Afterwards he pulled her aside for a picture and told her

“That was really good Television.”

funny stuff so many people in here praising the movie its obvious they never saw it and just like seeing him being demonized.
just win baby
Lol Hollywood GRASPING for straws as always
If you know ANYTHING about Trump (including what his favorite movie is), this movie is actually insanely accurate and actually charitable. They could’ve made Trump out like a straight up villain and they didn’t. They humanized him and actually left a ton out. Jeffrey Epstein (one of his best friends in the 80’s and 90’s) wasn’t even mentioned. They could’ve gone so hard on Trump and they didn’t.
This is Darth Plagieus teaching Darth Sidious. Roy Cohn is responsible for the monster we have today.
Did you ever hear... the tragedy... of Roy Cohn the slippery? No, I can't imagine the Democrats would teach you that, it's a MAGA legend.
lmao so funny that explains your intelligence level you literally compare it to a baby movie ... sad
Destiny must have learned about these rules too. Too bad it fucked him over
What’s kendall Roy doing here
So many angry little people in the comments 😆
HE’S YOUR PRESIDENT GET OVER IT
Yup, and he's loathsome as ever.
Yeah but this is typical Hollywood propaganda, like they did to bush, and Dick Cheney (who is in fact a pos, but not that misleading way Hollywood made him out to be). Also side note has there been a Democratic biopic of a president? If so wonder I bet it’s lead in an different way
I love the filming style here. I feels like going back to the 80s - 90s

@Mason-uc9bo doesnt make my statement any less true. But believe what ever delusions you want to belive in.
@Mason-uc9bo im sure someone as smart as you would be a "iconic" American of you were given millions of dollars because of your last name and no other reason and even if you failed spectacularly, you daddy gives you another handout.
There are 22 million millionaires in the USA. There's only been two presidents ever to win non-consecutive terms, Donald Trump is one of those 2 EVER. It's clearly not just about daddy's money.
@@CanadianvoiceFred Trump has been dead for 26 years my guy.
Never forget, no matter how badly this movie attempts to portray Trump, until 2015 Hollywood, liberals, politicians, and everyone else who seems to hate Trump now loved Trump back then. He was an American icon who was in movies, television, and was glorified on just about every talk show you could imagine. Democrats took his money for their campaigns and wanted to be seen with him at all costs. His books became best sellers and were praised by the left wing media. Then one day in 2015 he came down an escalator and the rest is history. They’re all fakes and Trump has pretty much been the same guy you see today.

Do we think The Apprentice got a couple Oscar noms as a signal to the Donald that Hollywood bends its knee?..
Given the movie is an unflattering but deeply humanizing portrayal, doubtful. Stan has been overdue for awards recognition for some time and this was the more award friendly performance.
@AngelofMusic04 true. It could be the other way. I know Big D said he thought it was an embarrassment, I think.
Adrien Brody is going to win anyway. Fun to speculate.
@AngelofMusic04 correction: it was Chevy Chase who was quoted with saying the Saturday Night film was "an embarrassment," not Big D.
I don't know what he thought of it. Personally, I don't think he is portrayed unrealistically or in bad faith. Portraying him as borderline homophobic was questionable...
