Feeling graceful learning that our youngsters are overcoming challenges with proactive attitudes. This is truly HKers spirit. I can foresee a bright future ahead of you.
It is a racist question when you ask or are being asked by "where are you come from?", at least in Canada, you could tell the people who ask you this silly question!! I come across this question couple of times. And the interviewee said the others gave her puzzle look, I think that is already a racism, how come you cannot come from Manchester? because they already have their bias, you are a Chinese, and you must be come from China. That's why they were not believing in what you were saying, but they already have their own presumptions and answers instead.
Why feel so insecure? On the contrary, it shows they are interested in you seeing you are different to them, I mean you could ask them back where their roots originate from, if they're white ask them if they are Irish, English, European etc? Native Canadians aren't white.

我在英國三年來學到的東西。就是我黎左英國三年都無比人歧視，甚至去到異地我發現到唔同種族都係人。已經化到唔會因為XXX而唔交往，基本上問我都係講我從香港唔係話我come from china 就無問題。

如果被問 "Where are you come from?" 就已經覺得係歧視就未免太玻璃心，我反而覺得只係其中一種打開話題嘅方式，之後可以更多有趣嘅交流。

我自己都成日俾人問呢個問題，我都試過用唔同嘅方式回應，睇吓對家有咩反應，如果我用而家嘅居住地嚟答，一般都唔會滿意，就算你答係香港，佢哋都非要將佢演繹為China為止，不過你發現身邊無論台灣人、韓國人、日本人都有咁嘅經歷時，就算吧啦，可能問嗰條友一世都未離開過英國島
通常咁問嘅人，根本對你回答唔會有太大興趣，因為佢已經前設咗答案，唔好諗住說服到佢
要記住自己嘅價值唔會因為別人嘅冷待而被貶低，將生活重心放響增強自己度，好好過自己喜歡的生活。被人歧視，要直斥其非，唔可以縮，要比對方知道佢嘅無禮，香港嘅年青人要加油！
