  • Replacing the cutch friction plates on a 1981 Honda CB900C. This is a project bike that I have been working on.
While test riding the motorcycle it feels like the cutch was slipping a little bit. The clutch also seems to be the original
Clutch that came with the bike out of the factory. It is time to replace that clutch.
This video shows the process and steps of replacing the clutch for a Honda CB900 Custom.
This video should be the same for almost all the double overhead cam Honda CB from the 80’s.

Seeing this bike brought back so many memories. I always wanted this bike back then. It was a beautiful bike and still is. It's timeless!

Great video, appreciate the "real world" approach. I have a CB750 from the same era and am getting ready to do this job. Thanks for the effort.

Good job, I have a 1982 CB900F to start my project build next year and I am looking for some spare parts. Can you help me in locating some spare parts?

Parts are easy to find for this bikes. are you gonna be restoring it to its original condition or just building something custom?

Good job over all. I just want to bring up two things. You didn't mention the "spring plate" in your clutch pack. At 6:04 you mention that you think somebody put two steel plates together. That is in fact the spring plate, or as is the Harley world, the Grenade Plate since they have a habit of coming apart in the clutch pack and causing much damage LOL ... The spring plate sits in the middle of the clutch pack. It is there to make for a smoother, more forgiving clutch. I'm assuming you replaced yours with two steels and a friction, as most clutch kits do, even though you didn't mention it. And second, you can buy a simple pin wrench from any auto parts store to remove the clutch basket center nut. Or, if you have a Dremel with a cut off wheel or even a hacksaw and a socket the same size as that nut, you can make a socket to remove that nut easier ....

Hahah hahah….. I broke one and decided to replace a second as well since I felt like to may have over torqued it as well.
