IstaBreeze i2000 3 vs 5 blades, a new setting for SUN grid tie inverter and a hub reinforcement!

- Today i have some new issues for you for the istabreeze i2000 setup together with a sun wind grid tie inverter. I will talk about the difference between 3 blades or 5 blades setup especcialy on i2000. I will show you a really big problem with the 5 blades hub and how to fix it. At the end of the video i have a new better setup for 5 blades. Not windtunnel tested but modeled after the 3 blades windtunel test.

I found that using the 5 blade hub that the turbine started spinning earlier but the power rose more slowly than the 3 blade version. Also, at around 4-500 watts the 5 blade hub started to get really noisy, making a loud fluttering/ripping noise. No such problems with the 3 blade version. It smoothly and quickly goes up to 8-900 watts with only a little noise. I ended up going back to using the 3 blade version.

In poland is a seller of propellers larger to ista breeze. length 127cm, width at the hub 18cm and at the end of the propeller 7cm.

Hello. I just received the GTI inverter and I have a doubt: the manual says that the inverter's output power will be determined by load power if we select limit function. Then why do we have to adjust the shortcut voltage, dumpload voltage. The inverter should do it, if not, how is it possible that the inverter only produces the energy that the load needs?
Good question, i have no limiter. But if the wind is f.e. 800W but your need is only 600W your turbine will run to higher voltage. So first the dumpload acts on higher voltage and finally the shortcut. So if the wind is higher the dumpload can burn it goes to shortcut and you will get nothing. Probably. Short times the dumpload can handle 600-1000W i think. If your need is long times you should install a better dumpload like a heater or something.

How much noise does it make? What kind of noise? And by what km pu it becomes loud?
Outside not more noise then the wind itself. Inside the mounting building I would not like to sleep there. Inside the surrounding building everthing is fine.

Hi, average windspeed low under 5m/s 5 blades, higher average 3 blades. U get a lot for the money. Dont know better ones.

Nein, die hab ich mir vom Metallbauer machen lassen und hier nur die Zeichnung veröffentlicht. Denkst du ich soll ihn noch ein paar Scheiben machen lassen und auf eBay rein stellen? Dafür ist mein Kanal aber zu klein. Was dürfte so ne Scheibe kosten mit Versand? 30Euro?
@@forum9919 ehrlich gesagt, würde ich für 30 Euro die Scheibe kaufen… weil ohne ist es ja nichts. Man muss ja das verstärken.
@@Thomas-or5wh ja das stimmt, ohne ist die 5er Nabe kaum was wert. Ich hab mal den Metallbauer fragen lassen, was er für so eine Scheibe offiziell haben wöllte. Ging bei mir auch nur über Bekannte. Wenn ich was weiß sag ich Bescheid.
Hi nochmal, tut mir leid, mein Metallbauer will nicht in Serie gehen, war ne einmalige Sache für mich. Reine Kosten offiziell wären 40€. Aber auf so Kleinkram hat diese Firma keine weitere Lust.

Basic rule is that the turbine mast must be 3 times higher then the surroundings to get clean air. That setup will never produce good power. Sorry
I know. But in Germany 10m is max hight without permission.
My i-1500 is only 4.5 m from ground to centre of hub. Performance is really good. Higher is always better but I think there are many other factors that can spoil performance. Have you tried outputting directly to batteries with dump relays and resistors in parallel?.

@@JC_Han I have the 24v I-1500 but I run it into a 12v volt battery bank. This gives me a much earlier cut-in. ( the point at which turbine volts>battery volts to allow charging to begin). I found that when running into a 24v battery bank the turbine would do a lot of spinning before reaching cut-in. Regarding number of blades, at first I went for the 5 blades because I'd heard they generator more energy harvest overall, especially in lower wind coditions, but after experimenting, I reverted to the 3 blade hub. The 3 blade turbine takes a little more wind to start turning, as you'd expect, but the power rises more quickly and more quietly. Also, the higher RPM achieves earlier cut in. I found the 5 blade noiser compared with the 3 blade from around 400 watts, probably due to the increased turbulence caused by the extra blades. (flapping/vibration noise). My conclusion is that if you have low to moderate wind speeds, as perhaps in the summer months, the best way to achieve and maintain cut in is to use a lower battery voltage and just stick with 3 blades. I should add, I only have a simple DIY volt sensing switch and relay. Perhaps an MPPT controller would make satisfactory use of 5 blades at lower speeds at the turbine's specified volts(24) but I've not seen one yet that seems to get good consistent reviews.
Yes that seems like a bad spot with houses surrounding..and luckily it won't spin that fast, in full blast you probably going to get some disturbing noices in your house because of vibrations..
People. Do not buy ista breeze wind turbine. Extremelly bad quality. You are going to waste your money. Any chinese wind turbine is better
