Fyi, Larethian's Wrath is also a finesse weapon, very useful for Dex builds. Larethian's Wrath and Phalar Aluve are the only finesse longswords in BG3. Using them both in dual weapon builds.
If you are a high dex class, dipping into monk will make any weapon capable of being wielded in one hand go off dexterity. Only takes one level kind of like how some builds dip into wizard to get the ability to learn spells from scrolls.
Kind of drives me nuts that DnD depicts longswords incorrectly. Longsword is more like a twohanded rapier than a soldiers sword. Meant for stabbing not slashing.
I hate the assumption that Rapiers are only for stabbing even though it's a type of blade that was purposefully made to be the most versatile and well rounded possible ...... why do you think they had *sharp edges* if they weren't made to cut ? The entire point of rapiers is that they are extremely light and maneurable swords that you can cut and slash with at a moment's notice and are therefore the best weapon you can bring to a duel due to that flexibility and ease of use
It’s a great sword you can use the entire game! Good point on it moving around people with the shriek hahaha can help with lock picking / pickpocketing if you don’t have minor illusion
There's a little detail about the bonesaw you may have overlooked which is that the bonus necro dmg and weapon actions only work if the wielder is a house of healing nurse so if you're playing unmodded it is functionally identical to a vanilla longsword Also missed opportunity for the intro to be "longswords. @@JasonDunna Using Nyrulna on an eldritch knight seems wasteful, as they can make any weapon they throw return to them whereas Nyrulna will return to anyone who throws it. I'd think the only worse choice than Eldrich Knight would be Pact of the Blade Warlock, as pact weapons cannot be thrown. Champion or Battlemaster fighter could be ok. If you are using a thrown weapon that returns without needing to be an eldritch knight, then the ability to throw the weapon with a bonus action as a Berserker in Frenzy seems more valuable than any Eldrich Knight abilities. The Jason Momoa version of Aquaman definitely has more of a Barbarian look too. I'd see an Aquaman build as more of a Barbarian/Storm Sorcerer/Tempest Cleric. I was thinking to go to level 6 in Storm Sorcerer, as I thought the Heart of the Storm would make Nyrulna deal extra thunder damage, but now I read it only says extra damage from lightning or thunder SPELLS so I doubt it counts. Still, Heart of the Storm: Resistance could make you less likely to hurt yourself when you throw Nyrulna as a target that is too close.
Now that I think about it, I rarely use longswords! Always opted for greatswords or short swords, often times daggers, but never...longswords. Huh, weird. I think I used Phalar Aluve but nothing else?
There’s not many great long swords, it’s being propped up by Phalar Aluve hard. Great swords and short swords just have a lot more benefits! Being able to use long swords 2 handed or with a shield is nice but yeah longswords in general are probably like C tier because there’s not many awesome choices like other categories of weapons
Longswords do 1D10 if not wielded either dual or with a shield. Blade of Oppressed Souls is an easily missed weapon as its kind of off in the corner of a room. Also, there is a pair of gloves and circlet right next to it that pairs well with the sword.
How the hell can someone put so much effort into making tier lists, and giving nice and clear feedback, and then NOT PUT THE ITEM DESCRIPTION OR SCREENSHOT ON THE SCREEN. I dont get it. I truly dont. Weapons or armor that have a feature locked behind a race can be finagled with Disguise Self. However, the game does not apply these bonuses without doing the disguise first than equipping the items. Something that I hope either the devs or modders can address. It's quite tedious.
It works on attacks and some spells but it’s not super consistent with applying. Like Open hand monk can apply reverberation twice with the added radiant damage to their punches, but if a target succeeds a save against a spell and still takes damage they don’t get the reverb
