My previous house didn't have an outside tap, so I kept a bucket in the sink and any time I washed my hands, rinsed off plates, etc., the bucket collected the water and was used to hydrate my garden. It's crazy how quickly it filled up. As long as you don't use antibacterial soap, that might also be a good way to keep hydrating your mulch while infusing it with microbes and other stuff that will help power the decomposition
Hi ADHD Gardener! I’ve been using wood chips a many years now. Oh, and I also have severe back pain. I’m interested to see how your bioreactor ends up. I’ve always left my wood cups in a pile, don’t touch it at all, for 1 year. We get snow here, so when I leave the pile over winter, the moisture left in the chips and the snow water is sufficient. After the snow and frost is gone from the pile, I start using he chips. They should look very dark brown/black and moist .You should see all the fungal activity after I year, and the worms have already found the pile! You can’t use it to mix into soil, but at that point, I spread a few inches on my garden. The fungus and wood chips break down more and fertilize the soil. I add more each year, and it really enriches the soil while also helping to limit the weeds on my garden. What did you end up doing with your remaining chips?
I piled the rest up in a pile and left it to break down. Eventually I wanted to cover my walkways around the garden with the rest. I'm curious too how it'll go!
@@TheAdhdGardener I use the tree mulch on walkways too, as it breaks down further, whatever is growing nearby will grow into the healthy soil that’s been mulched. 😊 I just found your channel today and subscribed. Greetings I’m in zone 5b Ontario ( ottawa)
Just get some chicken wire fencing to make a 3ft diameter enclosures and fill with what you want to compost. Use at least three fence posts to maintain integrity/keep it standing. Relatively cheap and re-usable. Time takes care of the rest.
you definitely want something firmer than chicken wire, like she said. i used it to make raised beds this year and it was a mess, the chicken wire provided basically no support. definitely gonna be looking for something more like the square mesh in this video.
@@nascenticity I'm using this plastic fencing that's holding up well. I don't know the difference between square mesh and chicken wire. Maybe I'm thinking of something else.
Hey Jackie 😃 great video 👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾 thank you
