    One word. Perfect.
    Read the documents and watched a bunch of videos, even by Microsoft, but nothing could push the stuff into my head. You did!

    Thank you - this is a very clear explanation. I did hours of tutorial on pluralsight but this is the first time I see the differences elucidated so clearly.

    This is brilliant, thank you so much Frank it all makes sense now! How would you get data to a client (WASM) project? For example, a Server-Side component retrieves data from Entity Framework but the client needs to manipulate it in their browser and only interact with the server again to send back the results when they save.

    in the start you pressed the button and time was not updated. shouldn't by default a server round happen whenever you press button (like old fashioned apps).

  • @Duelweb
    @Duelweb 9

    Very well explained. So how do you get data in this new template? Do you have to do services in the SERVER app and a separate API in the CLIENT app ? If so, that's a lot of work :(

    • @sprez

      If your component is rendered on the server then you can do direct connection to your database. If it is rendered on the client (WebAssembly) then you will need an API in the server project and use HttpClient in the client project. th-cam.com/video/qOF9Q8vAJ-o/w-d-xo.html shows an example of this.

    On 24:20 DisplayTimeComponent @rendermode is the same name for both cases. How does it recognises which one is Web Assembly or Server?? I'm confused.

    • @FrankLiuSoftware

      I checked at the timestamp pointed out, the top one uses InteractiveWebAssembly, the bottom one uses InteractiveServer. They are not the same.

    • @marko5734

      @@FrankLiuSoftware Ah yeah my bad sorry. On every separate project you defined the name of the render mode that will be used in program cs previously. BTW your teaching is very good. It would be amazing if you make some course on Udemy about full stack app with asp net and blazor SSR in Net.8

    I have had a doubt for a while, I understand the issue of the two projects and how they work, but when doing the typical crud operations, how should that point be addressed?

    • @FrankLiuSoftware

      Which point?

    • @andresbeltran5779

      @@FrankLiuSoftware I mean that for some reason I use the two render modes, and since web assembly communicates with the backend through an API and blazor server does not, having the two projects created, one for each type of rendering, what architecture or approach should I apply to communicate with the database?

    • @FrankLiuSoftware

      I see what you meant.
      If your page or comment uses InteractiveServer, you can use either Web API or directly use repository to contact database. If your page or component uses InteractiveWebAssembly, then you have no choice but to use WebApi.
