I never understood why people complain about location on fan films when...let's be real...there's about zero chance most fan film makers can afford to build sets or travel. You work with what you got. If they lived in Arizona, I bet it would have been desert based. Colorado? Mountains....oh wait...that's forest too mostly. :) It's not like fan film makers can trot the globe to exotic locations. lol. This film was overall good. Kept a decent pace. Scowl face girl was a bit much, but I understand the idea. Not bad work. Well done.
It's called green screen. You can do green screen sets in a garage and not have to build anything except props that characters physically interact with.
Considering the budget you probably had to work with, this is freaking awesome! If only the "professionals" Disney hires had the same kind of passion for the SW universe as what clearly went into the making of this short film! Keep up the great work!! Semper Fi!!
Frankly I just stumbled on the Fan-film genre and am blown away... Until any haters write the script, assemble the actors/actresses, film on location and do such a fine job with post-production, I would recommend to sit down so as to not embarrass yourselves. This genre is dope!! Nice job Mike!

True, it was quite a scowl, but I believe it fit the scene. "It ends here!"...all the pain, all the death.... It fit the scene. Toughen yourself up before the final fight.
Just have to say, I come back here often. My favorite SW fan film ever. Doesn't even seem like a fan film. So awesome and compelling Vycus is one of my favorite SW characters now, canon or otherwise. His story deserves a major motion picture. His conflict and betrayal, and the pain in his face as his Sith mask/helmet is removed. That actor has a future. Well directed, well cast, and well costumed. Superb!!! Great job!
I greatly appreciate that. I plan to continue his story in "Tales of the Sith" and hopefully produce a sequel film that'll give more insight into his character.
Damn. I’m impressed. Wasn’t so sure what to expect with that like ratio. The characters are a bit... derivative, but that’s nothing to really be upset about. Everything got a little sloppy after the mask came off, but even then the lowest score I could give this is an 8/10. Very nice job.

Being a die-hard Star Wars fan myself, I absolutely LOVED your Star Wars Short Story fan film!!! I’m very happy to share this official selection with you guys, because its truly a GREAT, FANTASTIC JOB! You’ve done an amazing short film! and those two years of effort making the film can be seen. The VFX are outstanding, and the lightsaber fights/battles are whatba Star Wars movie should be: EPIC. Definitely somuch better that the theatrical Disney spin-offs. I’m now a FAN of your short film! This was very good, I've unfortunately only discovered it now more than a year late. Lord Vycus is a great character and I love both the make up and the costume, and the actor does a pretty good job too. All thumbs up!
This was really good. I have always had a huge fascination with sith. More of mixed feelings. What i mean is i always liked that they follow their passions and what not. Yet at the same time i feel sorry and pity sith. They allow their emotions, passion and greed to run unchecked. I admire yet pity the sith in this fan film. He used his anger of being betrayed blind him which lead to his defeat. He wasted time talking when he should have killed the soldier and made sure the jedi was dead. I pity him because he died a lonely death in his anger. His military was defeated and he was rejected and banished from his home. He was unable to seek vengeance for being outcasted. He died in his anger with unfinished busness. To make it worse he was not killed by a powerful jedi but by a mere soldier. Yes a jedi may have given that soldier the opportunity but it was a mere soldier none the less who ended his life.
Kick-ass coreography (seriously impressed by the saber battle moves and counters!), outstanding make-up (the Ficus unmasking was a spectacular sight!), and a good ol' Shakespearean ending. Standing 'O'!
So funny "This is what I'm faced with? A weak Jedi and some woman?" It almost exactly describes how I've felt about Disney Star Wars "This is what I'm left with? A lame Jedi who's a woman?"

Lord Vycus was trying to be too much of Kylo Ren than be his own thing. Might as well have Vycus do that stance with a cross guard light saber. Even though I'm being critic I actually thought it was great and I could see Vycus a better version of Kylo Ren.

Very cool, but all I could think was how Vycus's mask looked like the masked magician's on Fox's Breaking The Code: Magic's Biggest Secrets Revealed. Otherwise, thumbs up!
+Headless Horseman That time when a fan can make a better film than Disney...Rian Johnson is in a pickle. This needed a little more throwing child tantrums while smashing things with the lightsaber to be more like Kylo Ren hahaha.
I am stunned. Amazing. The effects, story, acting, stunts and sound editing. All perfect. What software did you use ? I'm using Adobe Premier Pro to make my Lightsaber edits.
The Jedi was stabbed through the chest, the temperature alone from the saber would have caused intense burning throughout his chest. He wouldn't of survived a little more than a few seconds but he somehow managed to get up with the sith not hearing him, and stabbing him in the chest. Who's to say he won't rise up and kill the woman?
For its time, this was a great fan film. The bar has risen since. I did like the close up of the light sabers plasma arcs. The Jedi died foolishly as he just step over his Sith opponent without disarming him of his Saber first. Come on Jedi, this is street tactics 101.

Vycus is infinitely more badass than Kylo Ren. In fact, they are ALL badases and most of all, are right at home in the world of Star Wars. Well done for this brilliant peace of work. The force is strong in all of you!
This was really well done! If only Disney had your passion and creativity. SC Reviews TH-cam channel recommended your kickstarter. I have only one (tiny) nit-pick, which I hope you'll consider in your next film. Stars don't twinkle in space, the twinkling is only visible from a planet with an atmosphere (variations in the atmosphere cause the twinkling). I said it was a tiny nit-pick.
Thanks for the support and nice attention to detail! I told my VFX artist to get rid of the twinkle but for some reason, he said he couldn't completely remove it. He did reduce the twinkle (it was bad in the first render) but I totally understand that one! Small details add up!
@@MikeTheMarine Mike, it really was a minor thing, and doesn't really affect the film. But I could see from the quality of the rest of the film that you'd really put your all into it. I wouldn't have had either the talent or dedication to produce this. Years ago I did some CGI for awhile (back when lightwave 5.5 was new!), so I probably notice those sorts of things more than most people.
It was a difficult production and tested my commitment quite a few times. The filming alone spanned an entire year. Since it was no budget, I had to deal with cast and crew dropping like flies...The sequel would be impossible to do with no budget, so it'll take quite a few years to get the following and financial backing to begin production most likely. Yeah whenever you do post-production work, you can never look at a film the same haha

Damn, this is good! Good acting, in my oppinion. Good special effects, even thoug the Intro was mostly made with 2d effects it looked really good! And while I respect fan movies who do their own Star Wars music, the results are often dissapointing, so I agree with just using John Williams masterpieces. Nuffin sounds more Star Wars than the real deal after all! ;D

This is next level fan film action. The lightsaber battle was pretty epic. Some really good special effects as well. Btw at first I thought he was called Darth Ficus (like the tree because you were in a forest) before I saw the credits :) Great job man.

I was just thinking about the fact I've seen 3 sith in these fan films so far that have black metal-like makeup on. So this dude was like hell yeah I'll do it!
Well that was short lived, I expected something a little less Disney of an ending. The womens facial expressions were too cringe, and the short needed more bloodshed from the sith to stand out. This could pass as a part two maybe. Overall nice job but was pretty let down imo.

Fox McCloud destroys the 1st Death Star in The Trench run in the last Battle of the movie: The Battle of Venom. Iden, Del and Zay also participate in The Space Battle over Venom Air-Space on Area 6 while attacking the 1st Death Star as Inferno Squad with X-wings and Y-wings and A-wings (with models od the Episodes 4, 5 and 6) and V-wings from Rogue Squadrpn from Nintendo 64 N64). They Do the 1st trench attempt but fail to hit the target (The same flaw is the one that Galen Erso installed.)
Pepper survives that explosion of the 1st Death Star but it is captured by Iden Versio And Del Meeko and Pepper is punched by Iden Versio as torture for wanting to know his reasons from deffecting to The Galactic Empire and The First Order. Pepper explain his reasons but insults Iden by calling her that she is a weak woman. Iden, in full anger tells Pepper that he is a traitor and a coward; and that he messed up with the wrong woman and executes Pepper by shooting her blaster towards Pepper's heart and Pepper dies instantly.

I never understood why people complain about location on fan films when...let's be real...there's about zero chance most fan film makers can afford to build sets or travel. You work with what you got. If they lived in Arizona, I bet it would have been desert based. Colorado? Mountains....oh wait...that's forest too mostly. :) It's not like fan film makers can trot the globe to exotic locations. lol. This film was overall good. Kept a decent pace. Scowl face girl was a bit much, but I understand the idea. Not bad work. Well done.

Vycus is one of my favorite SW characters now, canon or otherwise. His story deserves a major motion picture. His conflict and betrayal, and the pain in his face as his Sith mask/helmet is removed. That actor has a future. Well directed, well cast, and well costumed. Superb!!! Great job!

Damn. I’m impressed. Wasn’t so sure what to expect with that like ratio. The characters are a bit... derivative, but that’s nothing to really be upset about. Everything got a little sloppy after the mask came off, but even then the lowest score I could give this is an 8/10. Very nice job.

This was very good, I've unfortunately only discovered it now more than a year late. Lord Vycus is a great character and I love both the make up and the costume, and the actor does a pretty good job too. All thumbs up!

This was really good. I have always had a huge fascination with sith. More of mixed feelings. What i mean is i always liked that they follow their passions and what not. Yet at the same time i feel sorry and pity sith. They allow their emotions, passion and greed to run unchecked. I admire yet pity the sith in this fan film. He used his anger of being betrayed blind him which lead to his defeat. He wasted time talking when he should have killed the soldier and made sure the jedi was dead. I pity him because he died a lonely death in his anger. His military was defeated and he was rejected and banished from his home. He was unable to seek vengeance for being outcasted. He died in his anger with unfinished busness. To make it worse he was not killed by a powerful jedi but by a mere soldier. Yes a jedi may have given that soldier the opportunity but it was a mere soldier none the less who ended his life.

Lord Vycus was trying to be too much of Kylo Ren than be his own thing. Might as well have Vycus do that stance with a cross guard light saber. Even though I'm being critic I actually thought it was great and I could see Vycus a better version of Kylo Ren.

The Jedi was stabbed through the chest, the temperature alone from the saber would have caused intense burning throughout his chest. He wouldn't of survived a little more than a few seconds but he somehow managed to get up with the sith not hearing him, and stabbing him in the chest. Who's to say he won't rise up and kill the woman?

For its time, this was a great fan film. The bar has risen since. I did like the close up of the light sabers plasma arcs. The Jedi died foolishly as he just step over his Sith opponent without disarming him of his Saber first. Come on Jedi, this is street tactics 101.

I have only one (tiny) nit-pick, which I hope you'll consider in your next film.
Stars don't twinkle in space, the twinkling is only visible from a planet with an atmosphere (variations in the atmosphere cause the twinkling).

Thanks for the support and nice attention to detail! I told my VFX artist to get rid of the twinkle but for some reason, he said he couldn't completely remove it. He did reduce the twinkle (it was bad in the first render) but I totally understand that one! Small details add up!
@@MikeTheMarine Mike, it really was a minor thing, and doesn't really affect the film. But I could see from the quality of the rest of the film that you'd really put your all into it. I wouldn't have had either the talent or dedication to produce this. Years ago I did some CGI for awhile (back when lightwave 5.5 was new!), so I probably notice those sorts of things more than most people.
It was a difficult production and tested my commitment quite a few times. The filming alone spanned an entire year. Since it was no budget, I had to deal with cast and crew dropping like flies...The sequel would be impossible to do with no budget, so it'll take quite a few years to get the following and financial backing to begin production most likely. Yeah whenever you do post-production work, you can never look at a film the same haha

Well that was short lived, I expected something a little less Disney of an ending. The womens facial expressions were too cringe, and the short needed more bloodshed from the sith to stand out. This could pass as a part two maybe. Overall nice job but was pretty let down imo.
