That awning looks mint, rate that it's all Australian made.
Absolute quality bit of gear. Clevershade are great to deal with and make an amazing product
Yes, very true
No place to guyed wire it down, no place to attach side curtains or legs in case of strong winds, cost is higher then other brands, and value is under top competitors Nordic and Bush company, which come in a lot lower in cost. Were going with Bush company where we dont have to fight with zippers, and the windows can be opened from the inside of awning walls.
There all 10-15kgs heavier
The awning now comes with Velcro wall attachments and they've lowered the price
Looks really good, $2700 is a lot of money for shade, you’ll have to go camping every couple weeks to get the value, my low budget I’ll have to stick to my $100 kings awning, nice awning though 👍
Yeah fair enough, they do a cheaper inexpensive one for about $1k I think
Nice review. Have you been in continuous rain for a few hours or overnight, does it drip or stay waterproof? I will have swags under it.
None at all
Clevershade the original design has been around for over 10years - the previous owner never really promoted much - the original design is the best imho, super lightweight (like 7kg lighter than this one with same coverage) but mounting is trickier
Ahh, yes, I know the design you're talking about.
This one here is a more traditional opening with the light bar etc.
had mine for a few years.. never an issue with it.. good kit.
Hi I noticed you have a fold down table on the inside of your rear door. Did you make that or is it available to buy. I have a 90 series Prado myself.
I made it. There's a youtube video about it
If it rains there is a gap between ur rack and the back door looks like it maybe a wet when cooking
yeah fair, every awning has this problem. The rhino rack 270 has a flappy bit of material that does nothing and make heaps of noise.
Awnings are not really for Rain or wind. but from experience, nothing handles storm without extra added amendments…common sense vs experience sense
Would those brackets work with a roof top tent mounted to the rack?
Dont think so. The company do make brackets for rtts now
Those water jet cut logos on the brackets signal a stress failure point for me. In much the same way as the AluCab 270 arms… there’s no reason to put a logo in a place where strength is far more important than advertising.
Are you sponsored by the company? I’ve not seen someone so enthusiastic about an awning even before it’s even been installed! 😂
I paid for mine, yeah fair would make it weaker. I've had no dramas with strength.
took it out for nine days in all weather?
No pics or video?
Sounds sketchy, sorry...
check my insta, all documented there
No amount of begging would stop my wife from killing me if i paid that much for an awning.
Seriously though, what benefits are there over an awning half the price?
Just say your supporting Aussie made aha
Those mount brackets are too weak, especially the one where the main hinge is. The lack of a mount bracket right at the main hinge results in the whole thing wobbling too much eg at 8m05s. The lack of top-to-bottom bolts for several of the arms is disappointing. And aluminium is just not a strong enough material for the arms IMHO, even though it saves weight. I see this mainly as a light-duty, occasional-use awning.
Most awnings come with 2 brackets and are like 150-200mm at the length. These are 350-400mm in length, the support spreads on to slats, not just one. Wont rust also
Not sure on it being black.
Your trying to get out of the heat and being black will conduct more heat.and still not to have some tie down ropes for extra security is questable
Fair, but honestly, it makes it darker under the awning, which is great for those sunny days. If it's mega windy, I'd take the awning down.
Absolutely ridiculous price.
yeah, premium
Way over priced!
