Even if Israel is technically apartheid there isn’t really another way to create a Jewish state just like all the Muslim states would also be apartheid toward any non-Muslim that wanted to live there. So there are good reasons to tread lightly here while her segment was a sophomoric bulldozer. Of course she lacks media awareness and should have been fired.

My take is all religion is awful, and our species cannot survive long term if it continues to pervade our political systems and power structures. But it is very clear Israel is in the wrong on this one.

So what? I haven't been to South Africa but that does not stop me from knowing it ran an apartheid system.
If you compare the two you will find the white South Africans were not trying to ethnically cleanse the country of the black Africans as Israel is doing with the Palestinians, nor regularly bombing them as Israel does with the Palestinians and they were not under military law as the Palestinians have been for 75 years.

Additionally there’s a great interview by Owen Jones entitled “Israel 'Worse Than Apartheid': South African Jewish Former ANC Politician Andrew Feinstein” in which Andrew Feinstein, a Jewish former member of parliament who was very active in the anti-apartheid struggle and visited Israel-Palestine numerous times compares the two systems in detail also with the conclusion that the Israeli system is worse on a number of specific points (without minimizing the horror of the South African version of apartheid)

Good reporting! I am a bit curious. Why can´t we point out Jewish power, for example, in the U.S. What is wrong with that? Jews make up a few percent of the population, but how many Senators/Congressmen/Governors (or voices with power) are Jewish. Incluiding wives/husbands, the numbers would increase greatly. Help me understand this disparity in numbers. What is anti-semetic about pointing this out? I don' t understand.
Katie's got a point. Just because a platform is corporate, doesn't mean you can't criticize it. Isn't RT is state sponsored? Abby Martin worked there and said she felt the most openess there and even was outspoken in criticism of Russia on it when warranted.
I'm always suprised why the Law is not used to keep voices free, to take those who seek to prevent criticism and want to intimidate and coerce - why are these people not taken to court? How can a foreign government coerce US citizens in the US?

A semite is defined as someone who speaks an 'original' language. The 2 of these that are still spoken as they were thousands of years ago are Arabic and Aramaic. Others being Biblical Hebrew, Moabite, Edomite and Ammonite, which all have been lost to time. Arabs today are not granted this 'antisemitism' protection, even though Arabic and Aramaic are both Semitic languages that are still spoken... whereas 'modern' Hebrew was only created at the end of the 19th century(and is just a dialect of Aramaic with Yiddish and Arabic influences). In fact biblical Hebrew itself is just a dialect of Phoenician. The language the original Canaanites spoke.

You don't know what you're talking about. Hebrew is an ancient language the language of the Bible and is the language of modern Israel.
@@masambeni Modern 'Hebrew' is not ancient. It was only invented in 1877 and is a mix of Syrian Aramaic, Arabic and Yiddish. It has nothing to do with any ancient language. Biblical 'Hebrew' itself is just Phoenician, the language of the original Canaanites, or at best just a dialect of Phoenician, so not a separate language at all.

Only thing that surprises me about all this is Katie Halper wasn't labeled antisemitic.
I recall first hearing the term "settlers " used in Hollywood-produced Western movies to refer to American gun-slinging settlers otherwise called cowboys who often were depicted fighting and massacring the indigenous American people, who were disparagingly called Savages.
But why are those movies called "Westerns"? Because white Europeans, British to be exact, who fled religious persecution in England, had originally settled along the Eastern Seaboard. But as settler colonies grew, they decided to head West, which began first as a trickle but the discovery of gold saw turn into a cascade.
Most of America's indigenous people lived on the vast western plains, and in their push west, attracted by gold, white European settlers often and systematically gunned down those so-called Savages, primitively armed with bows and arrows - in much the way white European/Israeli settlers today gun down the "brown" indigenous people of Palestine for the sake of taking their land.
Settler violence against the true and original American people is what is largely depicted by Hollywood's Western movies, and in everyone, the settlers/cowboys are always presented as the victor/"star" and the always-defeated Indians as being the villain.
From its inception, American colony society was racist and to this day continues to be racist. When in the 18th century, white Europeans got on ships and boats to cross the Atlantic to America, racism and bigotry were passengers on board. Thus, from the start, racism was part of the DNA of the white settlers who fled slave-dealing England to America, and to this day racism remains a part of America's DNA; therefore, none should be surprised that Israel, America's protégé, is an inherently racist nation, a condition which, without external or international pressure, it will not easily get rid of.

Great show. I was exhausted by the end because you women covered everything. If you haven't seen the Democracy Now show from 2 days ago, highly recommend it. A Mr. MOAZ INON spoke, his parents, living on a kibbutz had just been killed. Peace, he said, we must use a new vocabulary: peace, equality (i think he meant end apartheid) and partnership. A heart wrenching, soulful message. No, i dont suggest intruding on his grief but to watch the message that is in all our (who watch Rania and Kathie) hearts being given so humbly was a gift.
People need to know that Israel was a MAJOR supporter of the former Apartheid regime of South Africa
