As someone who worked on Millsberry, I was curious to see if anyone still remembered it. Nice retrospective! Millsberry was originally created and run by Neopets. I worked on Millsberry in 2005 and 2006 as a production coordinator--talking to General Mills about what they wanted, then planning and scheduling everything with a small team of talented and hard-working artists, programmers, and writers who brought the site to life. I helped design games and activities like the Colhurst Tunnels, the karate dojo, Editor in Chief, and painting. GM gave the contract to another vendor in 2006 for reasons I don't know, so I can't speak to anything from that era. It's great to know that folks have fond childhood memories--we really tried to make something fun and educational that rose above mere advertainment.
You’re not alone! I loved this game so much and I remember when me and my neighbors saw the ad for it on a cereal box and we all ran to make our characters! It held such a soft spot in my heart that I literally still remember my username. The yard sales, my home, my pet, and all the mini games were so great! And honestly if they brought it back I’d play it daily! Great video! ❤
Millsberry is one of the first games I ever played on computer, definitely the first MMO. I sank so much time into it as a 6-8 year-old. The Fishing was without a doubt my favorite part, always hoping to see Nessie. I remember loving the Halloween trick-or-treating too.
what a core memory :’) millsberry was my introduction to the internet in a weird way and i joined forums for it where i made online friends i later got to meet in person a few times and we got matching tattoos over a decade later to honor it/each other i remember playing hop n drop the day it shut down until the server disconnected. still want an irl fangy sue and svendi reading unit :(
My first online game ever... it was such a special game for all the new content it brought! I loved collecting all the rare items via trading with people on message boards and forums! All the fun mini games, building rooms, collecting clothing, viewing yard sales, reading the gazette each week I wish it was open to this day, such an amazing game. It would've benefited so much had it have paid memberships! It was a game before its time. I hope one day Millsberry returns.
Man what a blast from the past. I was too young to even understand how to properly play the game but I had so much fun visiting homes and the arcade games.
This game just came up in memory for me when i was trying to tell my husband what my first and only experience with MMOs was. So many fond memories of this game. I actually paid it in middle school so the bank and orne systems and educational activities were such a great addition. Agreed with all you said.
Ah that was a nice trip down memory lane! I remember my older cousin helping me navigate this game and it was kind of a bonding time for us. I also remember I always bought A LOT of pet hamsters to put around my house and didn’t understand I had to actually take care of them or else they would leave! 😂 I also loved going to the grocery store and learning about the different food groups. It was such a fun game, I wish they would bring it back. Thanks for sharing this, and have a blessed day! 🙏🏻✝️🫶🏻
One of my all-time favorite games of any kind! I just actively searched for videos about this. I'm surprised to hear someone say the demographic was probably 5-8, because it felt more "complex" and "sophisticated" than most content for that age group back then, to me. I remember being in 8th grade, playing this at the Boys & Girls Club. I distinctly remember feeling 🤯😢😅 the day I went to log on and the site was just gone. I was so shook because I'd just played it the day before and heard no news about a shutdown either. Wild times 😂
Wow nostalgia hit me hard with this one thing I loved about this game was the garage sales you could have me and my sister would buy each others stuff lol ughhh 2000s were just a vibe
I loved this game! I feel like if they brought it back, people would play, cos it’s got that nostalgic feel. But they’d probably charge for it now, which would suck. I used to be obsessed with this, neopets and webkinz. #2000sKid
I remember playing this game so much. If I remember correctly they announced the game would be closed in their in game newspaper. I was so sad when the game ended. I hope they make the game again because it really was so nice for kids.
I’m glad someone else remembers this game! I would have liked the pictures to be bigger in this video, they were kind of small and hard to see. Keep up the great work!
thank you! i have been trying to get better at video editing since i started making videos about 2 months ago, i will definitely keep the size in mind from now on! :)
ok i will never forget how you could name your house, and it was just a drop down bar of adjectives and you could pick two and they were all in alphabetical order lol and i evidently didn’t go very far back in the alphabet because my house was called “above and abode” 😂😂
millsberry was so great, since it shut down i’ve always been sad that there’s no way to play it anymore 🥲 my older sister and her friends used to play too and they would hack each others accounts and make each others characters ugly when they were mad at each other 😭😭😭😭 good times

Thanks for this little tidbit!
I loved the editor in chief part of the game!
I'm slowly but surely trying to recreate a similar experience, karate dojo was so fun lol thx for that

customizing my house was my FAVORITE part of this game. I also loved visiting other players' houses to see how they would decorate theirs 😭
Same, I did everything to build up that house 😂
I treasured Millsberry as a kid! I would spend hours playing the mini games and decorating my house lol

I thought it was just a dream holy crap. Thanks for the nostalgia trip

Everyone I’ve asked hadn’t even heard of this game. I’m glad some people still care. I wish it was still playable.

The sheer amount of Chip the Wolf™ Dolls I had in one room was insane...

I played it when I was 9. I remember being completely hooked on it. If I wasn't playing Delta Force: Black Hawk Down I was playing this 🤣
I honestly forgot about this. It was awesome.

PETA kept breaking into my home and taking all my pets 😡
I had no idea most of the stuff in the game existed. I think all my friend and I did was play the arcade games and customized our houses. Lol.
The game with the fruit loops, I barely remember it but I know it was a water park and that sht was so fun to me at the time 😂😂😂
ok i will never forget how you could name your house, and it was just a drop down bar of adjectives and you could pick two and they were all in alphabetical order lol and i evidently didn’t go very far back in the alphabet because my house was called “above and abode” 😂😂

Good times tbh
