That's true...people think that bc some countries in Africa are poor that the costs of living are cheap...hell nah...in Kinshasa DRC you would get a spot in the hood for $5000 per month...its all about how developed the property sector is in the country (supply/demand)...in SA you can easily get two houses like in this video

wood is scarce in Africa. people still gather stems and sticks for firewood in many places. although SA has a little forest, all homes are usually made from concrete or brick. Most homes are made from wood in the Americas because forests are plentiful. Most business and public buildings in the US are built from concrete cinder block, however.

A well built home whether built from wood, cement or straw will last If properly cared for. at some point most outlive their usefulness. wood frame allows for remodel. a cinder block home wouldn't be my thing. reminds me of a dorm room. and imagine the problems of tearing down walls for remodel.

@@lindastaves5042 you should stay away from some parts of Johannesburg like Hillbrow, Small street in the CBD. Braamfontein, Park town, Auckland park, etc are generally safe. It's hard to address safety in South Africa because it is a whole Country. It would be better if you stated a particular city. But South Africa is generally safe as long as you stay away from certain selected parts of the country
