Oh my goodness, Sue and Noel are so calm. They are the sweetest. If that's their worse then I wish they would have taught me. Hopefully when Katie watches this back she can see how kind and encouraging Sue was about it. I wouldn't tolerate my kid talking like that to me. They have great patience.

Here in Germany, there is no way around going to an official driving school and paying for it. And it is just as expensive here.😓 Back in the day, when I was old enough to start taking driving lessons, I had to find a job after school hours to pay for it myself. There was no money coming from my mom with her little income and two more children to feed. And I managed to pay for it on my own. 🤓 So I’m sure Luke and Katie can come up with something.😄

I took drivers Ed in school but you still had to pay for it, but it was only I think $50 or $60 dollars. You got to go out driving with a teacher and you got to take your written test at school and it counted towards getting your learners permit. But that was way back in 1980 lol 😝

I had to meet the safety ed teacher about an hour before school started.
We drove around town and he had a brake pedal on his side of the car.

You guys are fantastic parents. Driving instructors, not so much. I would make all the kids a deal; they bank half the money for a Certified Drving Program, and you'll pay the pther half. The savings in Insurance costs are drastically reduced when they have the Drivers Training Certificate, so it will actually save you money (and nerves) in the end.
    Too funny. 💁😕

This is so funny to watch. Reminds me of when I first started teaching my son. Here in the states they can start driving with a school permit as early as 14. Him now being almost 17 and having plenty of experience behind the wheel makes me feel a little more at ease. He is a good driver, but it takes years to become a proficient one. All in due time. 😁

I got a few driving lessons and I paid for every cent of them, it starts the responsibility of owning and driving a car.

Way too funny!! Laughing to tears, especially when the truck came, and when Katie told Luke that Sue kept referring to 'throttle,' which Katie wasn't familiar with. I can so relate. It's frustrating being a learner when you're not getting it, and it's a skill you want and need, and everyone else seems to have.

Yes!! as she’s a really hard worker , she saved for an apple laptop for two years from her paper job and got it at 15 years old on her own with a bit of birthday money from me to get it , so if your kids have the right work ethic and try hard then yes i would absolutely help them along if I could .

It's best to have your first few lessons with an instructor so that way they can help you with the clutch since their cars have that. Then once you sort of get the hang of that you can go out for a drive with your parents. That's what I did and it saved my dad a lot of grief from the stress of the first few lessons haha.

Without that muscle memory of just being able to handle the clutch, they will keep panicking on the main road. Poor Noel getting whiplash LOL

I tried staying calm but when you are heading towards a tree because your daughter is looking at the pedals on the floor instead of where she is going, it is very hard to say "BRAKE" ten times calmly. We missed the tree by inches but we still went up the gutter and then back down again and she still didn't BRAKE. That was it for me.

I taught my oldest to drive no problem 4 years ago but just recently my youngest got his learners and it didn't go so well. I shook the entire time and for 2 hours after getting back home. He was all over the road, almost put us in ditches, nearly hitting power poles, heading towards oncoming traffic and did at least 20 km over the speed limit. My heart was jumping out of my chest! I told other family members to step up because my nerves weren't going to take it. He's also going to do a driving course.

Awe I feel for ya! I taught my oldest daughter, eldest son & 2 foreign exchange students to drive. When it came time for my 2 youngest I couldn’t do it!! I paid for their lesson, worth every penny!
Sue, I really like your hair styled with the side part and penned back, chic & Jackie ‘O with your sun glasses!

1 tip, I took the teens to a empty car park to let them get familiar with the car before I let them lose on the streets- really helped!

I'm learning to drive at the moment and yes it is quite expensive. My brother who is my twin is also learning to drive. He has passed his theory. Mum and dad are helping us with the cost a bit.

How hilariously frightening!! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry 😳 for Mom and Dad! I swear we saw them age 10yrs in the first 5 min in the car with the kids.....and the glasses jumping all over 😜hahahah! Sorry kids you need to study some sort of manual to know at least the pedals and what they do! Good Luck! I would have to make them pay for their driver's ed. LOL. Love y'all and I will be praying!😘❤🙏

Hi I love watching your family on you tube and also on Wednesday evenings and my husband was watching the last one where you were teaching your family to drive he is a driving instructor and he was in stitches at the way you and Noel were giving up as thats what always happens but Katie was doing a bit better than Luke but it is really hard to teach any member of your family. We drive an electric car which is so easy to drive, however we have just bought a new campervan and it is manual and I am not sure about driving it but will just need to get on with it but I feel I am back at the beginning with using the gears so good luck to Luke and Katie x

The first thing I was taught was to look at the pedals and practiced moving feet between them. Reverse ABC while stationary then moved off.

Perhaps the learners could go with a driving school for a couple of lessons to learn the basics , then you guys take over :)

Stick shift makes it much harder. I'd have them drive around a big parking lot until they get used to a clutch. Then go out on the roads. I learned to drive with an automatic, but the first car I bought was a manual. I got about 10 minutes instruction and then taught myself in an empty parking lot.
